In my case I think it helped having used the internet since I was a kid

Started a conversation about shyness.

I really am alot shy-er IRL than I am on the internet. The idea I can see someone and they can see my body-language makes it more difficult.
Also being able to think more about what you want to say helps as I mutter ALOT IRL and even on the internet I mutter sometimes.

Should know that I am also very shy IRL....lot's of people think I'm weird or stuck up, but I just never know what to say. It is a lot easier for me to communicate on the internet.
