Background info and/or History: Céu Azul is based on the rare parrot known as Spix's macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii). This species found only in northeastern forests of Brazil officially became extinct in the wild by the year 2000.
Due to the diligent progress of the WPT, Spix's Macaws may actually return to the wild again through their breeding programs. We only need to stay positive, looking for those familiar blue parrots to make Brazil a place to call home again.
