Ungh... okay, that was entirely too much of me being passed out and catching up on missed sleep.
I think I have everything I need to get the game started. I'm going to stick with v0.2 right now of the school, in favor of getting the game started. Unless you guys want me to try my hand at a courtier variant (or artisan?) first.
Otherwise, now you may make characters. Standard 40cp. If you use a school other than Himura Bushi, know that Rank 2 is the highest rank you can start at in a school, unless you have a Different School arrangement (Brotherhood Monks and Ronin are, of course, exempt to this).
All non-ronin samurai get the Himura +1 WP Family bonus, as something emphasized by the adults who surround you as you grew up. If you have some other character idea in mind that would justify a different family bonus, I'm all ears. Remember, it's not just the fact that you're BORN, but how you're RAISED as well.
Let me know when you have a completed sheet! You will be starting game away from Megumi Tenpi, in another clan's Winter Court. Kyuden Doji, to be specific! Along the eastern seaboard of Rokugan, it is the place where Colonial diplomats arrive for court these days, as well as many minor clan emissaries - the decision made due to the influence the Mantis have over minor clans, and the ease to which they can get there.
For the most part, Minor Clans hold court in their own cities, often entertaining a handful of other minor clan emissaries. Rarely, if ever, will they see a Great Clan samurai in their halls for winter court, unless there was a really good reason. But they still send out their own to have an influence in the greater politics of the empire, even if the gesture is a token one without much influence to speak of. It really is more of a matter of being ignored versus being forgotten.
So here, you will see other samurai NPCs from other minor clans you will be able to interact with, but their numbers, as well as yours (all PCs in the party) will be small versus anyone else - especially the Crane. Kyuden Otomo is nearby, so you can even expect a few imperial big cheeses to be putzing about.

DESCRIPTION Naohiko stands at about 5' 8", nearing the tall side for a Rokugani male. He wears his brown hair fairly long and unbound, with the tops reaching his shoulder. Nobushige's green eyes dart constantly, gauging the challenge set before him or for a shapely woman to rest his eyes upon. Normally, Naohiko wears the standard green kimono and grey hakama of his clan. In battle, Nobushige wears a set of light armor in the clan's color. Nobushige's daisho is rather plain, befitting his station as a young minor clansman.
BACKGROUND
Bayushi Miroku was a traditional Scorpion Bushi. A fair duelist, a skilled yojimbo, and a competant courtier. When one of Miroku's charges got over her head in a problem, Miroku did the typical Scorpion thing and redirected all blame to himself. As the indiscretion warranted, Miroku found himself without clan. Free to wander the world, he traveled to everywhere but the deepest, darkest depths of the Shadowlands. Eventually, Miroku decided he would try to stop living the life of a ronin and see if he could find a place for his hard earned skills in another clan.
As fate would have it, the Tournement of the Emperor's Favored (or the Tournament of the Minor Clans) that year featured a new minor clan...one by the name of the Kraken. Miroku earned a place amongst the nascent Kraken and became an instructor of Iaijutsu. Since the Kraken clan needed all the allies they could get, Miroku was quickly married to Komori Hanae, a woman from the Bat clan who had not inherited the magical gifts common to the Komori family.
Miroku's marriage has proven fruitful, with his first born son reaching his eighteenth birthday recently. One of the first samurai born to the Kraken, Naohiko has had no other life but the life of a Kraken samurai. His father has done his best to train Naohiko in a key variety of skills. This has given the Kraken a more-than competent samurai who is skilled enough to tackle a wide array of problems the Clan may have.
Naohiko's life has otherwise been grueling but pleasant. He is well known among the female population of Megumi Tenpi as a lady's man, but the time given over to his training and duties limit the damage he can do. Naohiko's life has its complications though. While visiting his Komori cousins, Naohiko met a young woman named Miya Akira. Naohiko's infatuation with Akira lasted until that evening, when Akira cut down Naohiko's uncle for a petty grievance in a duel that should not have been to the death. For her part, Akira loathes Naohiko for the testimony he gave on the matter that resulted in the Imperial losing station amongst her family.

Sorry for the delay; last week was surprisingly busy for me, and my Saturday was pretty much spent being unconscious. It was not as rewarding as I expected it to be.
You can have a maximum of 2 ranks higher for any starting skill. So since all your starting school skills are at rank 1, you can have at most rank 3. So that Temptation 4 has to be spent elsewhere.
Your Lore skill should be listed as Lore (Bushido), since Bushido isn't an emphasis. Lore is a macro-skill, and needs to be specific.
Also, you should mark your School Skills somehow (bold, underline, italics, list, colored, any way is fine).

You can probably axe the Ally, as long as you keep the social position. For the purpose you are intending for Ally, that would be something any of the other players would get. Basically, the daimyo giving them special treatment. It shouldn't necessarily apply to family, IMHO. At least, not immediate; Ally would make more sense for, say, a relative of your father's, in the Seppun.
