~ Suzume Kinjo ~ Kumogakure ~ Jounin ~ Bukijutsu~ Samurai ~
Chakra Pool: 405 ~ AC: 14450 ~ Ryo: 4,600
The other's bokuto was in bad shape, these things just weren't meant for intense combat. Kein was doing alright for not having much experience with a sword, although he was resorting more to using his limbs at this point. Not that Suzume would be above that herself, it merely seemed that the other might not bother with his bokuto soon. As soon as the other moved and blocked her blade, Suzume was already using her next technique.
With her senses as good as they were, she was already aware of how he breathed. Which made it simple enough to synchronize their breathing. As her blade slid off to the side, she could hear his breathing change as he spun to attack her back. Suzume pivoted on her feet, turning and her blade held with both hands as she began to turn in a half circle. The crescent block was a powerful block and how it worked was that she would catch his blade with hers. Then she would carry it along the circular path, using his own momentum to drive it down to the ground or disarm Kein all together.
Whether he kept a hold of the bokuto or not, Suzume already turned her own in her hands. She went in for another horizontal slice right to his neck now that he was low enough. Of course she would stop just centimeters before contact, if he did not move in time.

~ Suzume Kinjo ~ Blood Red Sparrow ~ Kumogakure ~ Jounin ~ Samurai ~
Chakra Pool: 405 ~ AC: 14450 ~ Ryo: 4,600
Arriving at the dojo, Suzume and Cloud entered first and walked along the walls. Out on the floor of the dojo, there were a couple of other shinobi that could be seen training, either in taijutsu, bukijutsu, or there were even some training in other sorts of jutsu. "This is the best place to train or have a basic spar. Everything you may want such as practice weapons and dummies are provided here, along with scrolls with instructions for learning techniques."
Finding a bench, Suzume set her things down and Cloud settled down next to it on the wood floors to rest. She moved to the next room and gathered four scrolls. The red head still had her own training to accomplish after all. Returning, she took a seat on the bench and held out two scrolls "The scroll in my right hand is the scroll for Shunkan no Hagane. It is a basic style that can be performed with a variety of bladed weapons, although typically it is used with swords. This style focuses on finesse, cutting power, speed. I myself am a master of this style and it is perhaps the most important style that every swordsman should know first.
"The scroll in my right hand is the style focusing on close quarters knife combat, Sobagai Deba Sentou. I have not practiced this style myself but you carry a tanto and you would probably benefit from this style. All I can tell you for sure is that this is typically used as a more secondary style, used when your main weapon such as a sword is knocked away from you." She had thought about learning this style herself but kept her focus to the sword styles. Her hands were out, so Mae could pick up whichever scroll she wished to look through first. "Right now I want you to practice and learn stage one of both styles to start. At the very least I want you to learn and be able to perform all of stage one for Shunkan no Hagane. Knowing the basics and never forgetting them will strengthen your style and keep you alive. If there is anything you do not understand or need to ask, then feel free to speak up. Practice weapons are in the door to my right."

Mae followed along behind Suzume, trying to keep up with everything she was saying This is the dojo? she turned in a slow circle as she walked, staring around, and almost tripped over the same bench Suzume sat on "Glurk! Sorry....w-well.....I suppose I'll learn the Shunkan no Hagane since you want me to learn it first." she said, taking it. But she also took the other scroll for learning later "Thank you again, Suzu-sama." Mae had shortened her sensei's name for the purpose of remembering it and she quickly moved to the practice room, searching for a weapon. Her scrolls were set lightly on a separate bench and she came out in a few minutes with two different weapons. One was a simple wood katana with a metal center and handle. The other was a heavier broad sword of lesser metal that she carried as if it were light as the wood katana. Sitting down and laying both weapons at her feet, Mae took up the scrolls and began to read.

What my gender is, what my body is and what my mind is, are under my control.
Mae set the scroll down and looked at the weapons before her, trying to decide which one to use first. Her plan was simple enough; practice each technique with each weapon at least once. Then, from there, she could decide which weapon she wanted to specialize in. The katana or the broad sword. This will help Suzu-sensei too. she decided to try with the broad sword first, picking it up and spinning it easily as she approached a practice dummy "First technique, Shunkan no Hagane, Basic chop." she said out loud, both to remember it and to remind herself of the methods behind it. She held the blade in both hands and took a deep breath, closing her eyes. Then she struck, kicking off the ground and going at the dummy low, her sword out to the left of her body. As she got closer, Mae kicked off and brought the sword up in a swing and, as she descended, down in a heavy strike that slammed into the dummy. The sword sank about half way through and Mae landed lightly on the ground, releasing the sword to look at the damage Huh....so a broad sword is more....for smacking things. she decided, leaving the sword in as she took up the katana and returned to her start point. She took a deep breath and shifted the wooden blade in her hands, feeling the difference. Then she started out deliberately slower than before, increasing her speed as she got closer before dodging around behind the dummy. Her body was almost lying on the floor as she dodged around it, twisted to face the back and she jumped straight up in the air. The katana came down with a resounding crack on the dummy's shoulder and the arm snapped off, flying to clatter along the floor "Oh! I like this sword much better...Suzu-sensei! Was that correct?" she called, hurrying over to check that she'd performed the basic chop correctly. Once she'd managed one more, Mae planned to stop asking Suzu if things were correct but for now...she needed advice.

~ Suzume Kinjo ~ Blood Red Sparrow ~ Kumogakure ~ Jounin ~ Samurai ~
Chakra Pool: 405 ~ AC: 14450 ~ Ryo: 4,600
It was interesting to see that her student had picked up two different types of swords. The traditional katana and the more western broadsword. Suzume herself had always preferred a katana but Mae was free to make her own decisions as to use of weapons. The basic chop was a good strong technique for a beginner to learn. More power was given from the weight of gravity and from swing both arms down. The first attempt with the broadsword was good, there was definitely plenty of power. This was most likely because the broadsword was heavier than the katana. It was built for cutting and thrusting but it was more brute force and could not cut quite as well as the katana.
Next Mae used the katana, she would undoubtedly feel the difference despite the weapons being merely for training. She put in enough power to snap the arm off of the dummy. Hearing the other's question, Suzume nodded before standing to her feet "Yes, the basic chop is basically a simplistic power move. All you need is to bring your arms back and that gives the blade more power as you bring your arms down. Although by bringing your arms back, it leaves you open. This should be more along the lines of a finishing move and when your opponent would not have the time to take advantage of the opening." Now close to Mae, she took the broadsword from the dummy and held the hilt. "I see that you've noticed the difference in the blades. The katana is lighter, you have more speed and can easily attain finesse and greater cutting power with how you hold and use it. The broadsword is heavier but the broader and thicker blade tends to mean it can handle more stress from a powerful attack. While it is for cutting and thrusting, it is a more blunter force than the katana." Geez, she was rambling again and that was not even the question Mae had asked.
"Sorry, I went off topic there. But yes, you did perform the move correctly."
