Flint listened, as the girl twirled, and he tried to think of a solution."Anyone attempting to hinder you in your endeavors is an enemy of mine." He'd found a friend in her already, mind you, and their relationship had solidified by how she reacted to his persona. The magician once again crossed his legs on the rock, bringing a hand to his chin with the elbow to one of his knees, in a thinking position. "Obviously I can't allow you to be married off against your will. the solutions, however, are mostly eclectic." As am I.
Flint took a moment, and then asked his questions. "Is your father forcing you to marry, and if so why this Damien? You must not think he's a good match, why does your father?"

Sighing, she explained, "My father is a fisherman. Fishing has not been plentiful enough in the past years for him to continue to care for myself and him. Damien is a wealthy man who is giving my father a hefty dowry and my father sees it as a great opportunity for me. While it seems to be in greed he his giving his daughter's hand away; in reality he's just surprised his daughter has a suitor of such high nobility in the town and wealth." Closing her eyes, Akemi tried to slow her heart and began to wonder if this man had put a spell on her to make her feel this way. But she quickly shook that out of her mind.

"So he is motivated by surprise and money...." Flint tapped on his chin again, sending a spark out, and mused his oddly colored hair with his other hand. He smiled suddenly, and then snapped one of his fingers. "That's it!"
The boy rocketed up off of the rock with his feet and landed on the forest floor with an even gait. Still fully in motion, he turned to Akemi. "He would have to give up on Damien if another contender appeared, with a better offer, yes?"

With raised eyebrows in surprise at his quickness, Akemi nodded, "Well, yes. If a good man with a better offer came asking for my hand then my father would most likely give me to him instead." She wasn't sure where he was going with this but found her cheeks burn pink anyways.

Victoria's woes soon melted away, hazel eyes widening at the glamour before her. "This is no magic shop," she murmured quietly. Why would the paper lead her here? She quickly pushed her bags in the hall way, closing the door behind her quietly. everything seemed still. Victoria was wary. This appeared to be someone's house. Or mansion it seemed more like it. Maybe she was invading. Trespassing. Victoria bit her lip. However, her feet remained glued to the floor. She was halted here. Her curiosity astounded her. Such an ornate home. Ideas began to take form in her head; ideas she could write in her book. It seemed too surreal for the girl. She took another step forward. "Hello?" Her voice echoed.

Flint hadn't yet stopped smiling. "Then we give him one, yes?"
He paced back and forth for a moment, leaving a trail of sparks as he was prone to do when excited or antsy, and kept his voice at an even pitch.
"But how to make it seem that you have another suitor? Obviously I could dress, but dressing is only the half of it. And the money is possible to get, but it still leave problems..." His plan would take a bit to get through his mind fully, but he was sure he was on the right track.

"If he gave my hand to you, we would have to get married, Flint, you do realize that right?" her cheeks were burning brightly now and she could feel her body stand on edge as the electric that he gave off intensified the air. She watched the sparks fly in wonder and awe but didn't dare question anything that didn't have to do with his plan, she didn't want to stop his thoughts on helping her. There would be time for questioning about his magic at another time.
Layla looked up at her master, whimpering a bit. She didn't like the sparks and the young pup was very afraid of lightning. But the animal, who was so attuned with her master, could tell that Akemi held different feelings for this man than any other she encountered and ran off into the woods, out of fear or out of respect for the two is undetermined.

(Gah! Poor puppy~)
Flint's hair had begun to rise in its static-like way, nearly becoming a halo around his head, when Akemi voiced her own thoughts. He hadn't exactly thought of that, the getting married, and that was a problem. For a moment, he wondered what the problem was, and then realized it must be because the girl was frightened of having to spend the rest of her life with a magician.
At the thought of the rejection, the sparks around Flint calmed, and his tempest of hair fell back into its place.
"We could hold that part off, long enough to think of a better plan, if you'd rather. I could claim business was going to hold me up for a year or so, and it could buy you time to find someone you wanted to be with."
The hurt in his eyes was very, very human.
"At least, that was my plan, I wasn't trading you one marriage you wouldn't want for another."

Akemi had taken a few steps back as the electricity grew. But when she saw the hurt in his eyes she quickly spoke, "It's not that I don't want to be with you! You make my heart beat wildly-" she quickly stopped, placing a hand over her mouth and blushing brighter. Marriage, the thought sent a shiver through her body, But would he be able to make the icy feelings I have toward marriage melt away? It was both a fearful and exciting thought to her and the attraction she felt towards him shone in the way her eyes glint flirtatiously as they met his.

Flint, still hurt (Which was odd, he'd never had a reason to feel heartbreak, and he didn't doubt that rejection caused it, but he still couldn't feel it.) took a moment to sit back down on the rock. The stone grounded him, and the electricity surrounding him faded away completely as he was brought in to control. He hid the hurt in his eyes, trying to concentrate on the way that Akemi spoke about her heart beat.
"Then what? You wouldn't have to marry anyone, if I kept postponing and postponing. Your father wouldn't mind, he'd have the dowry." He'd see to that, to keep that frightened, ghostly feeling out of her eyes. He'd always felt the emotions of others, been empathetic and compassionate, but never like this.

Biting her lip, Akemi pushed some hair behind her ear so Flint had a better view of her face, "Flint," she said slowly, "Do you really wish to be my fiance or is this just a plan to help a friend?" her question was serious and begged for an honest answer. At first she had thought maybe this man did wish to marry her, but now Akemi wasn't sure and was doubting Flint's intentions for this plan.

Flint blinked at the question, then set about answering.
"Why would I ask your father for your hand, if I had no intention of marrying you?"
He didn't understand. Why couldn't it be both? He wanted to help her as a friend, yes, but he was also extremely jealous of this Damien. Why should he have the pretty, eclectic, special girl who danced in the woods and talked to the animals if he was just going to lock her in a house to clean and make babies? Flint would set her free, see to it that she had everything she could ever need in case he ever did disappear due to his curse, and strive to love her as his mother had loved his father, and vice-versa.
So why couldn't it be both?

Akemi found herself blushing once again, "You know, I'm very afraid of marriage," she murmured but maybe she could get used to the idea for Flint. Even if he was a magician, he was as free as she was it seemed and she felt excited to know that he want to marry her. He scared her and thrilled her at the same time. "But maybe I can try and get used to it for you." The young girl made up her mind. She wasn't sure if she loved Flint but she would marry him as long as he let her be free and visit the woods and keep Layla. It seemed like a good plan for her and her father and the glimpse of hurt she saw in Flint eye's earlier would have no reason to return.

"There's still time." Flint said quietly. "We could think up another option, if you'd rather marry no one at all."
She was afraid of marriage, and not him, so he could deal with that. He would think up another idea, another thousand ideas, if she asked. The hurt was gone, as she had said the right things, but now came the issue of actually making the proposal to the girls father without freaking out.
And explaining to his family what was happening...
No, he didn't have to do that. Right?

Akemi shook her head after a moment of thought. She knew this was a good plan, that it would ease her father to know she was being kept safe by a husband. And she knew Flint wouldn't be the type to hold her down. She wasn't sure how but she knew he would be a good man to her. It may not be a love-filled marriage. But Akemi was strongly attracted to him and she could live with that contently. It was then Layla ran back into the clearing and the young female realized that the sun was setting, "I should get home," she paused, "When will you come and ask for my hand? My father came back from a fishing trip today and won't leave again for a few days but when he leaves, he'll be gone anywhere up to a week."
