hmm I like Nilla's idea lol. If I poke A LOT of little holes idea If I see a cheap breeding net though I'll get it.

Thanks guys, I really spent a long time looking at different schoolers and I found that the platties always grabbed my attention the most. Like everything else I saw I'd be like, ya, that's nice, I could get those, and the hawaii platties was just WOW... THEY"RE SO YELLOW! xd Plus the contrast with the black and red, biggrin Yup, very glad I found these. Next up is the pleco and then I gotta decide female or male betta! I'm dreading that a bit lol.

If you do end up buying one, get a net and not a BOX. Alot of people lose fry in boxes because there is no water flow, and the water quality gets bad fast... Plus, they dont float like they are suppossed to.

I cant wait for the Pleco!! They are so funny, I think you'll love them =3

Plecos are awesome. And the fact that you have so many hiding spaces in your tank is a very big plus for pleco keeping, the more secure it feels, the more you will see it.

Escpectially with Clowns. I hear they are rather shy in the begining.

Yeah a lot of people with clowns are like "I don't know why you like plecos so much, I never see mine!"

I was gonna get a clown once. I saw them at the fish store and I was like "oooh, pretty" but I didn't know much about them so I wanted to go home to do research and make sure they didn't get too big. Then when I went back to the store they were all gone.

Pet Supermarket here carries them. I went to look at them again the other day, and there weren't any crying I love to watch them suck on stuff lol Watching Ninja makes me laugh. I sware I could watch him all day! He was sucking on the heater cord, and I was like "I dont think you should be sucking on that, dude..." He just looked at me, flared his fins out, and kept on going LOL

I never see my platies lol. So I can imagine I will never see my pleco. Seriously when I got home I thought one of my platies mysteriously vanished. I would try to look behind the tank and I could only count two hidden in the plants. They are so shy if I so much as look at the tank, they dash off to hide. Which means they haven't figured out feeding time yet like Sushi did lol. I'd get near the tank and he would spaz out thinking food was coming, these guys spaz out and hide and never see that it's ME putting the food in their tank.

BTW how much should I be feeding these guys? And what kind of frozen food is good? Whatever I got last time was really annoying and difficult to feed can't remember what it was. So for now it's crappy and old fish flakes and dried blood worms. I've also got pellets, haven't given those yet

Aww, they'll come around. Give it some time. My Guppies were psycho when it came to feeding time lol

I would just give them a flake or two (crumbled up) and see how long it takes for them to eat it. If my fish eat everything in less then 10 seconds, I give them a bit more, as my fish are power eaters, and its a mad dash to get as much as you can before some else gets it lol

Frozen Brine Shrimp has to be a favorite in my tanks. I thaw it out in a betta cup (that they come in in the store) and use a turkey baster to suck up the amount I want to feed, then put the rest in the fridge for later (they can keep for 24 hours).

Hikari Fancy Guppy is a big hit, too. Omega One is a good brand of food. It comes in flakes and pellets of all kinds, though here you can pretty much only find flakes. New Life Spectrum is one of the top brands of fish food (unless you want to buy something really awesome online, like Ken's Foods). I have not seen it personally, but I have heard its sold it PetSmart (where I buy my foods).

OMG!

So, I went to buy my plec today. The first store had no clowns although it took em forever o figure that out. The second store had like 3. But before getting one I asked about the snowball and how big they tipically get. They are indeed too big for my tank crying which sucks cause I REALLY want one it's the cutest plec I ever saw. The guy suggested I get one and then just switch tanks when he's too big but... that's A LOT of work. I absolutely can't go any higher than my current tank and have only like 4-6 inches to spare length wise.

So the guy said, if I was willing to WAIT sometimes they get in "mini" plecos. He said not long ago they had black and YELLOW miniature plecs but he actually grabbed the last one. eek I asked if I could order one, he said yes BUT I would have to search online or wtv and figure out the exact species I want and then they will order it for me. SSSOOO

HELP! I need all your expertise and links to any sites with species lists I need to know about all pleco's 4 inchs or less.

Also, update on the hawaiians. They are SLIGHTLY less shy every day. They're also really cool. They seem to be really happy about having a tank with sand and plants and hides. They like to forage in the sand for any sunken food. They seem to nibble on the plants a bit too. They're really striking in appearance too. I'll have to get ontop of getting an underwater vid going. I'm really happy with them and I do think I want more. Probably just two. Although I read they can have like 50+ babies eek are they really gona eat them all without a breeding net?

No one is preggers yet so I haven't bought the breeding net yet. Oh and the aquaclear mini is on sale, I'm tempted to buy it for when/if mine craps out once and for all. But money is really really tight. I've got about 2100 in debt I'm working off currently. sad

Hmm, black and yellow, could be Leopard Frog, I don't know the L number but a google search should bring it up. They're really pretty, this person on Aquaria Central is selling her breeding pair, I inquired about the price and it was $1,000 0.0 but she sells the babies for $25 a piece. I think the reason for the high price on the breeders is that it takes them a few years to mature. False zebras I believe are also black and yellow and again I don't know the L number. Regular zebras are GORGEOUS but they are expensive and really rare, I think they're L-46 or L-146.

It doesn't HAVE to be black and yellow. Yellow happens to be my fav color, I dunno if it's noticeable lol. Yellow fish, yellow dog lol. But basically I thought clown was the only pleco small enough for me but turns out I can order and there's others as small??? The Zebra is really cute. How big do they get?

200 hun, so...That's WAY out of my price range. lol. Still like snowballs the best lol. But I guess I'll go get clown tomorrow. The guy at the store said that there are "miniature" pleco's though, so that kind of threw me. Couldn't find anything on them. And he doesn't know when/if they'll get more. sad
