She felt compelled to answer now that she had an idea of the identity of the soothing voice. A snow queen or not, someone with the shrill powers of ice, Sadayo thought it wise not to upset someone while in a potentially hazardous liquid. Her question was easy, really. Yes? It's a real rarity to even exist, isn't it? Why, I picked this branch of work to increase my odds of staying out of sight and surviving...
A statement, however she worried she was rambling, was still sufficient cover the first half but she hesitated on answering the second half. Sadayo tried her best to suppress names and words but she began to envision the subtle images of her parents, sister, and cast her gaze on the ocean's surface below her head to look for even a glimmer of her own reflection. I...
Sadayo wanted to press herself for a 'better' answer that wouldn't make her sound completely selfish in front of Sonyo. Others were mostly strangers to her and she couldn't admit this in front of Sonyo, someone whose face was just becoming familiar. She tried to envision the images of Kyomei, Nari, the lovestruck ironboy, and a few others in her mind's eye to try to identify someone else that she could "care for most of all". This process was more difficult than she anticipated. Sadayo bit her lip as her eyes, lowered, lingered over the water's surface again.

Sonyo reached out to Taylor, ignoring Sadayo's panicked thoughts, It was only normal, the young female hadn't been in many combat scenarios, definitely nothing like this. Grabbing ahold of a piece of Taylor's shirt, she pulled him close, worry filling her face. 'Oh poor Taylor...' Moving her eyes from the small boy, she looked around once more, trying to gain some semblance of clues before answering this Snow Queen. It's question, whether she cared for life, made her veins bubble with anger. How dare this thing, whatever it was, assume to have been with her her whole life yet didn't know the answer to that question? Anyone, who had ever so much as met her for a few moments would know it. 'For someone who says they've been with me my whole life, you sure don't know anything about me. As a member of Evergreen, a Iryo Nin, and a member of Sungakure-- of course I care for life. My whole life, everything I do, everything I am is for the pursuit of furthering and helping along life. It's all I am, it's all I ever do; every decision I've ever made, every risk I've ever taken..."
The Jinchuriki took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. As for who she cared about... Many names, many faces came to her mind. 'Nari... Sadayo, Masato, Taylor-- my gennin, Ayame, Theodin, Liz, Skelly, Bast-san, Doc Nara, the lady with the flowers from the hospital, my patients, Kyomei, my village... I care for all my village the same, from all the people I've never met to everyone who's touched my life in a special way. There is no most of all... Anyone's death would break me, and it has... All the people who were lost during the Chomei attack, all the people I injured or killed in the hospital... I remember every name. They're all my fault. No life deserves to be held higher than anyone else's, everyone has the light of nature, the light of life in them-- I do not enjoy the light of even evil things being put out.'
Sonyo couldn't look at Sadayo, couldn't look at Taylor in case he had awoken. She couldn't bare the same reaction Taylor had given her at Ayame's estate, like he had been betrayed. She couldn't help how she was or who she was. 'Such a mindless question is insulting, Yuki-Onna."

More laughter broke through as Sonyo expressed her frustration over the situation. 'Such fire in your heart. You are truly part of the yuki clan.' The spirit said. Sadayo's thoughts disbursed in the water as Sonyo could feel the warmth of Taylor's body. The boy began to start showing signs of life, but was still waking up. 'Everyone assumes us to be cold hearted because of our ice power, but that's not the truth of the clan. The power of ice comes from the promise to oneself to hold onto to those who you cherish most. Your love, your passion, that power keeps the clan alive. You are a proud example of the Ice Clan. It is truly a privilege to meet you.' It was at this moment that the water around them disappeared. Sadayo would find herself standing a distance away from Sonyo, who still had Taylor in her arms. In front of them formed a woman at least ten feet tall. Her skin was as pale as snow as she was adorned in cloth that looked as gentle as silk. In her right hand was a large staff, with a giant snowflake at the top. She smiled and bowed her head, but when her head rose her smile was gone, and concern was apparent on her face.
"It is for this reason that I have to ask both of you a terrible request." She said solemnly. Her free hand rose and to the two ladies' far right formed a figure. It appeared to be a tall skeleton in a nice suit. "Neither of you are aware of him, but this man is referred to as the Skeleton King. Like me, he is also a spirit. However, unlike me before this recent ordeal, he has assaulted the village. Sadayo can verify my claim with the pumpkins which created monster which attacked Sunagakure villagers." She said, assuming Sadayo would validate her claim. "Countless village ninjas were put in harm way. Many shinobi engaged in the event. In the end, it was almost an apocalypse." Her gaze fell on the figure and her tone was dire. It was obvious that she believed what she was saying.
"It was not my intention to attack the villagers of Sunagakure. That would be hypocritical. I had The Sugar Plum Fairy, also known as my sister spirit of the snow clan, create a force to find where this Skeleton King hid. However, that is not their only purpose." Her voice reflected her tenseness. She then faced the two Suna women again. "The reason I asked you both to explain who you cherish is because there is one person that you both love beyond reason. That man is Nariomi Kaguya."
The Snow Queen gave a moment for her words to sink. She needed them to listen to possibly the most important part of this. "Nariomi has a connection to the Skeleton King. His lifeforce is connected to the Spirit. If I kill him, then Nariomi dies as well. This is not my intention, but it will be inevitable if you do not act now." She took a breath. What she had to say next, she knew would shake them to their very core. "And the only way to save him, to hold the Skeleton King responsible for his crimes without sacrificing the life of Nariomi, is for you both to kill Taylor Childe."

It was like every ounce of blood in her body was set alight under a strong flame, a red began to could the edges of her vision. Slowly, from seemingly no where, sand began to draw in from any crack in the room, any hole, and small gap between a door or a vent or a light fixture. Very very slowly it spilled in, as if gathered by Sonyo's building rage. She held Taylor closer and tighter than before, somewhat moving the boy to her side as if the movement would protect him some how. She didn't look much unlike a mother shielding her child. "You will straight up have to kill me first before you think anyone will lay a single hand anywhere near this child." Sonyo's eyes were half lidded, but filled with rolling emotion. The young woman had never felt such unbridled feeling like this, she often closed off a majority of her feelings before Shukaku. But she couldn't now, and the overwhelming tidal wave of emotion hurt.
Taylor... Nari... She would protect either with her own life. She had already done so for taylor, putting herself far in front of the boy during the attack to try to shield her gennin with her very body if her ice dome had failed. She would do anything for these two, for anyone in this village. Anything. Taking a deep breath to attempt to get ahold of herself, Sonyo subconsciously squeezed Taylor, as if reminding herself of how she should react right now versus how she wanted to react. Still the sand crawled, making it's way towards the hazel-eyed chuunin. "You act as if there is no other choice. There is always, another choice. Life is a series of choices. So think hard and give me something else; perhaps I could talk to Nari, perhaps we could talk to this Skeleton King. Nothing ever has to result in death, only the choices we make and the biases we hold make it seem so." As she spoke, she made her way over to Sadayo, grabbing the young girl's sleeve and pulling her behind her, as if to shield her too. Her eyes didn't stray from the giant figure in front of her, but she kept a hand backwards, to make sure that Sadayo was there.
No one would get hurt here today. Not on her watch. She had failed so many times before but she would not fail these two.

From her reflection, Sadayo grimaced at the sound of the vocalized insult directed to the snow queen. Much to relief it wasn't a costly mistake. The queen explained the pumpkins and who was likely responsible for casting them about the village. The more she spoke the more Sadayo invested herself into listening. Her brows began to furrow.
She carried on to describe a love Nari shared by the both girls and a connection to a Skeleton King. Neither claim didn't catch onto Sadayo as something feasible. The supposed love she held felt more like a leveled sense of friendship and she didn't understand the connection to Nariomi and the Skeleton King. How is that possible? What did she miss that defines this? Does he... mistakenly worship the sleketon king instead of this so-called goddness she's heard him mention once?
The hardest piece of information to process: a counter to save Nari by killing the unconscious, Taylor Childe. That choice was undoubtedly unfair yet her job wasn't supposed to be fair. Sonyo's reaction was superb. Sadayo could only find herself to agree and began to nod profusely. Her pony-tail trio started to bounce behind her head in unison as she followed the pull upon her sleeve.

A sigh fell from the Snow Queen. "You truly don't know what's in your hands, do you?" She spoke softly. She didn't want to have to kill her own child. In her ideal world, Sonyo would comply. Hopefully with a proper assortment of the facts she would see the truth. "That boy is a monster. I could tell you why in vivid detail, but I'm not sure if you are ready to care. You're so filled with guilt over your past actions that you're going to sacrifice the man you love for someone you barely know." Her eyes closed as she felt a presence emerged. A powerful Kaguya emerged. It wasn't rocket science to deduce who it belonged to. "I must go now. Nariomi has challenged me to a duel to protect the spirit of the kaguya clan. It is apparent that he cares more for that spirit than he does you, since by now The Skeleton King would have informed him that you are in my presence. I will kill him so that justice is brought down on The Skeleton King. The only way to save him is for you, or for you silent Sadayo, to kill Taylor. I will give you time to debate this." And with that, before the sand could swallow her, she disappeared.
His eyes opened slowly. It was the warmth of intimacy he felt before his eyes opened. He was startled confused as he enjoyed the familiarity, but then his senses came to him and he knew such comforts were not of his. His eyes opened, and he found himself embraced by Sonyo. Didn't he just disappear from her? How did she catch him? Where was he anywhere? The last thing he remembered was using a body flicker, and then nothing. "Miss Sonyo...?" He said as he peeled himself away from her civilly. As he did, he noticed that all around them was ice, along with some semblance of sand trickling in. He stood up and move around and saw Sadayo in the area with the two of them with him. "I am very confused. Where are we?" Simple questions followed as the two would be aware of the fact that they needed to kill him before Nariomi fell.

He pulled away from her, again. Once again he pushed away any sort of emotional attachment she tried to make. Had she really ruined everything with what happened at Ayame's house? Had her words effected him that deeply, chased him that far from her? She couldn't hide the hurt in her eyes this time, her hazel hues turning stormy as she stared at the young boy for a second. She nearly missed all of what the spirit had said, too preoccupied with the thoughts swirling around in her head like a blizzard. 'Is he really lost to me now...? Does he hate me...?" The thought bounced around in her head, growing like a snowball rolling downhill. The tidal wave of rage was beaten back as the Snow Queen disappeared, and what lapped at her soul was now anxiety and questions-- had she made the right decisions? What about Nari? Had she doomed her other half?
Sonyo began to tremble, slightly at first as she continued to stare at Taylor for a moment more, then worse. The young woman attempted to hide the tremors by gripping her fists; she had to stay strong for them both. She couldn't fall apart, not now, not when they needed her. Shukaku's quiet and distant cackling echoed in her mind once more, a sound she was beginning to dread. Was her life, falling apart pieces by pieces, really that amusing to him? A lump rose in her throat and she swallowed hard to force it back, looking away from Taylor finally. It took her a few moments of breathing to make sure her voice wouldn't waver when she answered Taylor. "I don't know exactly where we are, but considering she was able to feel Nariomi's summons I'm guessing we're probably somewhere still in the village...." Sonyo began to pace around the room, her hands sliding along the walls decorated in ice for any clues of where they were.
Once again her face was collected, but inside she was a raging storm of anxiety and emotion. She wanted to go back to how it all was before... She recalled the pool party... It was a somber time, but it was one of the times of peace. When she didn't have to worry about death or duty or facades. Tears burned at the back of her eyes... everything had become so difficult all of a sudden, like in the world was out to get her. 'I just want a peaceful life dammit....' She sobbed in her mind, her back turned to the two gennin but her ears listening in case Sadayo took to the Queen's instructions. "It seems like we've been imprisoned by a yuki-onna that proclaims to be the spirit of my clan..." She began again, trying to debrief Taylor.
"She seems to be upset about something done by another 'spirit'? Apparently of the Kaguya clan, a little while ago? She said either Nari has to die, or you do, but I won't let either happen today. For once... For ******** once... I'm going to make sure everyone lives...." She didn't mean to tack on the last part, but it had passed her lips and she couldn't hide it. More weakness, always more weakness with her... it seemed like no matter how she tried to change, her weakness would always follow her.

Taylor could sense something wrong with Sonyo. She was like how she was at the gates, when she was still sad about what happened at Ayame's residence. Her words put context to their current situation. Apparently the three of them were hostages. The word, 'spirit', confused him. His limited vocabulary as a slave never taught him such a word, and neither did his academy training. Judging by the context of Sonyo's words, he was able to deduce that it meant some sort of patron. Maybe something like a demon, but a good version? Probably not truly good, however, if she kidnapped them. His eyes widened as the ultimatum was dropped. His life for Nariomi's. "Why my life though? I don't even know what a Kaguya is." He said solemnly. He was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't realize Sonyo, who had stayed so strong for so long, was starting to crack. Taylor instinctively looked away. He felt confused again.
"I'm... I'm sorry..." He said. That was the default response to use when he was in trouble under the Hirohiko's rule. Accept blame and take whatever punishment that follows. He hated seeing Sonyo like this. Why was she hurt? She should be the one angry at him. Apparently, it was his life which hung in the balance of Nariomi's. "I shouldn't be here if it's Nariomi's life on the line. He's a hero. And I'm... I'm not worth anything. I don't deserve the kindness you keep giving me..." His words were in a ramble. He was so distraught. He kept hurting Sonyo without meaning to. Could he fix this? Did he even have the power? Meanwhile, Sadayo may be able to start to notice that the cracks the sand came through started to grow slightly larger. There was also a distant sound of chiseling, almost mute enough to go unheard. Sonyo may also notice, but given the context of Taylor's words and her emotional state she may be too distraught to be aware.

__ Zhi tracked the signature of her dear friend as best she could, which was pretty damn well compared to anyone else with these skills. Soon she'd arrive at an area of the village Zhi had never been to before. Nonetheless, she was certain that Taylor was here since Horus was. The super lovably big bird so frantically trying to get through a frozen cage, and for what other reason besides Taylor (or maybe some really reallllly good bird treats)? The frozen cage was incredible strong from what she could gather about it, and what was more suspicious was that she couldn't detect whatever was within it. Still, Horus was relentlessly trying to get his friend back too. Zhi stopped a short ways away from the thunderbird and came to use her sense of sight to give the great obstacle a more direct look-over. "What even is going on around the village lately? First pumpkins, monsters, and weird skeletons... now all this?" This was quite a strange generation to be a shinobi, but oh well. Zhi's hands fell together to easily finish a short string of hand seals, greatly boosting her sensory potency to even greater heights, rendering the anti-sensory effects moot at least just long enough to get a decent look at the barrier's contents.
Piercing the Viel's effects were exhausted. "Taylor!" Zhi squealed with excitement and great concern all mixed together. Although, she also quickly determined that there was literally nothing in her arsenal that could do anything to this without utterly tiring herself out. There had to be a better way. "Hey Horus! I'll be right back after I try to find something that can get us through here! Do your best in the meantime, kay!?" Zhi playfully saluted the large bird and dashed away again. She was going to stop by the academy and do the fastest training session in all of ever. Of course, she had to figure out what she was learning to do first...
The snow queen had transgressed to some other location and the blonde haired youth had woken up. In wake of the emotions of her allies, there was little for Sadayo to do but think. Her stare fell from Sonyo and Taylor. All she could do was think. She really was beginning to feel like a "silent" Sadayo, of all things, but far from naming herself a dumb Sadayo. "It's still not right. Someone so obscure from our lexicon of deities... I-I can't kill someone loyalties like mine for no reason. No proof. " She listened to Taylor speak as if he was nearly consenting to their own death and pitted themselves as a shadow to another's spotlight. There were probably hopes and dreams still to be unearthed in her comrade and killing couldn't have been the sole reply to the Queen's demands. Sadayo raised her head and copied Sonyo's act of stepping to the wall. From her the bag at her waist, she carefully took a metal caltrop into her grasp and raised her arm to meet the wall. She began to tap her fingers on the wall in succession. The tappings sounded random at first but ressonanted somewhat within the confinings. As the Snow queens design in which she could come and go the voices of the ninja were at her disposal in her presence. What if she could hear them outside of her icy prision too? Sadayo fixed her stare at Sonyo. Her focus investing itself in the precise pattern of tappings. As only voice sounding off in the room, Sadayo was careful to only speak the girl's name: "Sonyo?"

__ Zrrrmmmmfrwooosh!!! Htsssshhhh...!!! Zhi came back to this place with incredible speed, barely managing to put on the breaks before running into anything again. She'd stopped near where she could sense Horus, noticing that the bird hadn't changed his course of action much since she last saw him. Well, it was good that he was still trying to break in. "H-Horus!!" Zhi cried out to the bird while trying to catch her breath. "Please! Come here and the use your strongest lightning attack on that wall!" She quickly recomposed herself and brought her hands together to complete the necessary hand seals for her favorite raiton jutsu, the Lightning Transformation Technique. "We'll combine our power to free Taylor for sure!!" Literally, they were going to punch one heck of a hole through this icy prison to free everyone inside. 'Some people think that bigger is better, and that speed can't compete with mass... pfft! But if I concentrate all my speed into one spot I can break through mass no matter how big it is! I'll show 'em all! Speed is everything!!!' It was time to prove that her ideals were so right that she could even protect those dearest to her against all odds!!

Sonyo tried to keep it together the best she could, but so much was happening, and that infernal chuckling had started again-- Shukaku laughing at her crumbling. She turned around once more, pressing her forehead softly against the ice in front of her, trying to calm herself, to return to some kind of center. Anxiety rushed through her veins like a forest fire, and she felt like she wasn't ready for this, for any of this. She always had some sort of leader behind her, she was always better at following instructions instead of making them. She heard the tapping, and she had learned trace amounts of morse code in the Otogakure academy, but not much. She only made out a few letters, a couple of words-- but enough to get the point. She took a deep breath, pressing her forehead harder against the ice, sending out a silent prayer for Nature to watch over and guide her.
"Please, O Mother Earth... Help me when my feet can no longer walk your path. Guide my hands when my body grows weary of your work..." The chuunin mumbled silently under her breath, her eyes closed tight. Shukaku's chuckles faded away, and she could feel the beast was silent. "Help me to protect your children, help me to do what I need to do for I am weak and I cannot. This path has made me tired, O mother... Help me to keep the balance afloat...." Eyes still closed, Sonyo tilted her head up, letting out a soft breath. It felt as if the cold from the ice had seeped in to her very core, giving her some semblance of strength that she did not have prior. When she opened her eyes, the corners of her vision were dark-- tunnel vision. She just had to make it through this for them, she had to make sure they were safe.
"Sadayo, there seems to be small spaces where the sand that seems to be collecting around me has carved a path. I want you to exit one of these, or attempt to. I need you to get to the hospital. Do not stop, do not get sidetracked. I need you to talk to the head doctor there, I've worked very closely with him. Please explain to him your plan, see what he can come up with. I do not know a technique that could do so, nor do I have a substance on me that can. I will stay here with Taylor, to cover your tracks in case the 'Queen' returns. Plus I need to have a talk with him."
Her back was still facing them, and with the rigidity of her body, one could perhaps misunderstand her body language-- mistaking her to be made instead of tense. Her voice carried a careful measure to it, and Sonyo's face was a blank mask, staring up at the icy ceiling. She would wait for Sadayo to leave, and if she did, the young woman would turn her back to the icy wall and slowly slide down it till she was in a sitting position, beckoning Taylor over to her and patting the ground beside her.

As advised, Sadayo would attempt to leave the icy prison. The act of exiting was considerably difficult and she even struggled for a moment. Somehow, Sadayo ultimately made it out of the globe thing and immediately stopped to look around. She had not a single clue where she was or where to start for an exit. Still, time was of the essence, probably. Sadayo spent a good fourty-five seconds staring at Zhi like an animal stunned before its impending doom before breaking for some sort of exit. That's not the snow queen. Go Soga, go!

Horus continued to penetrate the ice prison from the outside. The bird has been at this since Taylor was taken. He was adamant that he would break through. That was, however, when Zhi appeared. The bird gawked with delight as he flew over to Zhi. When he stood next to the girl he started to flap his four wings. Lightning chakra poured from every point of his body. It was about to be the strongest ninjutsu he could perform. A ball of lightning started to form in front of the giant thunderbird. Despite the attack forming, however, it would not form. Instead, Horus was waiting for Zhi to use her lightning ninjutsu so that the two could combine and penetrate the ice dome.
Meanwhile, Taylor watched as Sadayo tried and failed to get out of the cave using the ice tunnel. Was this Sonyo's grand plan? To pray and have something magically happen? It was almost comedic if he didn't just express his grave concern with how he had no use when compared to Nariomi, as well as concerned that Sonyo's continued kindness was the only reason why the two continued talking. Did she really just ignore all of that for this wild escape plan which could not work? He was angry now. Sonyo was not accepting reality. This dodging of the topic connected to him how she also was incapable of doing what was necessary to save Nariomi, and possibly the village. In the end, he reached for his chain scythe and jumped back several feet from them.
"Miss Sonyo. It is apparent to me that you will not do what is necessary in order to save the others." He said as the sickle end dropped to the ground. It would be treason to attack immediately. He had to give her the option to take the initiative. "You are a leader of Sunagakure. You have a duty to those you serve. If you do not do what is necessary in order to save the people of this village, including Nariomi, then I will do what I need to in order to have that demon inside of you do what you need instead." His eye contact never broke from Sonyo. The conversations he indulged in were very insightful for how to deal with the matter at hand. "I know it has control over your actions. Even you said that it could break free if you're not careful. If I attack you with enough force then I know your demon will retaliate and attempt to kill me. I don't want you to become that which you fear most, however. So either accept the reality of the situation and save the others through killing me, or you will leave me with no choice." Taylor kept his gaze on her as he awaited his answer. His left hand which held onto his chain tightened. He truly did not want to do this, especially to someone as nice as Sonyo. He couldn't reveal any weakness, however. If he did, then he was as bad as she was.
