The blast hit Hajime full on, sending him flying across the arena. He pushed himself slowly to his feet. Blood ran down his arm in deep red streamlets. He knew he had only a few more minutes before his energy was completely used up. He approached his enemy yet again and threw a charged punch, aiming at her torso.

Ana felt the horrific impact of the more experienced fighter's blow. She smiled softly, and slashed once more with her zanpakuto.

Hajime dodged the blow with ease, but his wounds were finally catching up with him. If this match didn't end within the next few minutes...

Ana laughed quietly to herself.
"Sorry, Kota..." she said aloud. "Looks like it's up to them. There's always the wildcard matches, right?"  

[Chibi Kitsune Warrior]

Hajime collapsed from exhaustion just after the referee declared him the winner. As the arena and surrounding area faded into black, he felt a wave of satisfaction wash over him. Another step closer to freedom. With that thought swimming around his brain, he blacked out completely.

The contestants were granted a week's rest -- no more. On the morning of the eighth day since the end of the secondaries, the remaining four contestants, as well as the surviving losers o the past matches were summoned to a new arena, finally. The old one was being reconstructed, and allegedly the two special contestants to be fought would require much more room to play in. The referee whistled and called all attention to himself.
"Hedy Eisenberg, and the Youkai Basan! Step forward!" The two obliged him.
"For the Semi-Final elimination round, you two will fight as a team against one of our most powerful demons. Kumojo! Show yourself!"

The massive, hair-covered form of Kumojo skittered swiftly from the shadows and leaped into the arena. Her head bobbed from side to side as she took in her surroundings, jaws snapping in anticipation at the fight ahead of her.

"You will work together, or you will die. Remember this! Now, fight!"
Hedy and Basan were already prepared for this, having trained together under their mysterious new benefactor. Grudgingly, they launched themselves at the S-Class bounding around before them. Wasting no time, Hedy and Ludwig merged bodies, taking the form of a black-skinned female humanoid. Two small horns adorned her forehead, and a tangle of black hair hung down around her clawed feet. With a roar she unleashed a breath of fire. Beside her, Basan squawked and belched, a second stream of fire emanating from his beak.

Kumojo reared back and both blasts hit her bloated body. With an angry shriek, she rushed toward her opponents, hands reaching and grabbing at the air in front of her as her jaws snapped open and close in hunger. She grabbed at whatever she could reach, intending to taste their savory flesh.

Basan's wings carried him away from danger. In one motion, he escaped the giant Youkai's long reach and slashed at the pale flesh with his talons.
Hedy did not fare so well. Another of Kumojo's many arms caught her and carried her screaming to slam down on the ground. With the claws around her tightening, the Bount slashed wildly at the white hand with her own claws.

Kumojo hissed in anger as Basan flew out of her reach. Using her back legs, she caught a small length of web in her hands, and flung it at her opponents. She yanked hard on the web and swung her arms quickly, slamming them into the arena floor.

The Youkai and his Bount ally bumped painfully into each other before being slammed down into the newly-cut stone of the second arena. Basan took hold of the webbing securing him, and pulled hard on it, intending to bring the arm grasping it close enough to break with his natural strength. Hedy burned her way out of her own trap, and used her version of Shunpo to approach Kumojo and attack its face with her claws.

Kumojo released the web making Basan's attack ineffective, but received a long slash across her face from Hedy. With another hiss, she ran at her opponents, intending to trample them under her many "feet".

Basan was able to glide to safety, but there was no way for Hedy to avoid the giant Youkai's advance at such a close range. Ludwig's strength served her well, however. The fused being reached up and stopped Kumojo cold with hands outstretched. Hedy then attempted to break off the arm she held while Basan dive-bombed from a great height, beak-first.
