As much as he would rather just climb the tree, this was just not working. He needed another way to do this. As Hazel climbed onto his head, almost pushing him into the snow, he remembered that she was with him. He got an idea, sure it wouldn't help as much as kicking the tree would, but the more help the better right? "Hazel..climb the tree with me and collect pieces of candy please?" He picked up a piece of candy to show her. The sun bear stared at the piece of candy, she sniffed it, witch caused her nose to twitch, and then she scurried up the tree in search of the sweet smelling things. As Jayden watched Hazel begin to climb the tree he started to climb a tree right beside it. Hopefully the two of them could gather more joy units together.
At first the bear fumbled as she tried to hold on to the tree while bringing a paw up towards a piece of candy. She missed two pieces before she started to get the hang of it. She managed to get her paw on a big candy cane,scooping it into her mouth, before climbing down to drop it in the basket.
As Jayden climbed up he also managed to grab a big candy cane. He jumped down to put it in his basket because it was too big for him to manage to grab much more then that. He started to climb back up when he saw that this time the bear managed to get three pieces of candy in her mouth. He laughed at the sight of the bear trying to shimmy down the tree with a mouth full of gumdrops. When he finally climbed up he managed to grab two peppermints. He jumped back down and made sure everything made it in the basket.

Just needed one more. Glancing up at the tree, Marosa jumped up and attempted to bat one off of the branches.
He smiled as he successfully grabbed one, tossing it towards the basket and filling the second one up. Taking one in each hand, the fey headed towards Red and held them up for her to see, his cheeks red from the cold. He had to admit that it had been fun, and he hoped the extra basket would help.
West watched Levi and her basket as she skittered through the gingerbread tree, eyes narrowed half in amusement, half in irritation. Was that a challenge? How was he supposed to respond to that? Didn't she know just how crappy he was at cli—
No, now that he thought about it, he supposed she did not know anything of the sort.
While he had been very shaky during their balancing lesson on that fallen trunk, he couldn't recall her ever having seen any of his abysmal attempts at properly climbing trees. If anything, they were worse than the log thing.
Eventually, he stopped staring, very deliberately searching the ground for the unbroken candies she had dropped and placing them in his own basket. Waste not, and all that. West smirked up at her when he was done. But that had still only filled half of his JOY quota. It was time to climb.
He hesitated at the base of the tatzel's tree, then all in a rush he hooked his basket on his arm and reached for the trunk, sinking his hands and feet into the cookie's cracks. West began to climb very slowly, mindful of his basket and the candy he had already collected. He paused every few feet as he rose, but only long enough to grab a few pieces of candy and move on. She was right. If he didn't keep moving, he would fall.
"How's that fer fast?" he taunted, reaching for the nearest piece of candy. From somewhere in the vicinity of his feet came a faint crumbling. West didn't notice. He continued higher, very nearly reaching Levi before noticing a distinct wobble in his footing.
"Um," he began. West's eyes flicked up toward the ghoul, he swallowed, and then without another word, he commenced his descent. He made it halfway to the ground before the bits of cookie holding his feet crumbled and he dropped to the ground like a stone.
West landed with a thud and a grunt, his basket crushed against his chest. His candies were fine, but he couldn't say the same for his back.
Hazel was shimmyingup the tree again when the poor bear managed to break the limb, causing her to come tumbling down the tree landing on the basket of joy units. Most of the candy was okay but some were broken and they managed to loose three whole joy units. The bear looked sound but she was alright. "Aw it's alright Haze, we still have plenty and we will get more. Everything is fine." He gently patted her on the back and the bears spirits were lifted and she hurried to scurry back up the tree.
Watching Hazel to make sure she was alright this time, he climbed to a tree real close to hers and started climbing. The reaper managed to grab a big candy cane but he lost his grip a bit and the candy cane fell to the ground and broke into a few pieces. It was still three joy units so everything was alright. He set the piece's in the basket and began climbing back up. On his way up he noticed the bear scurrying down the tree with candy every where. She had candy on her head, candy in her mouth, candy that she was clutching to her body with her arms, the bear had so much candy she could hardly climb down the tree, but she made it successfully. The bear was so excited and eagerly dumped all her candy into the basket, Jayden couldn't help but laugh at the site. Well when she makes a mess she surely does make sure to make up for it. Hazel managed to gather five joy units.
He grabbed a candy cane again but the branch he was on broke, he came crashing down onto the branch,the snow, and the candy cane. Jayden was fine, unfortunately though the candy cane was in pieces. It was still three joy units but Jayden sure wasn't doing good with candy canes today.
As Jayden was on his way up again he noticed Hazel climbing down with two peppermints in her arms and mouth. She dropped them in the basket and hurried back up the tree. "Your doing good Haze." He encouraged her. On there way back down, Jayden noticed some turtle doves at the basket of candy. He and Hazel hurried to scare away the birds but as they did, they left the pieces they had gathered, in the snow by the tree. As some of the turtle doves were distracting Jayden and Hazel, two managed to swoop down and carry away three pieces of candy. Hazel was angry at the birds and was growling at them but Jayden patted her back gently. "it's alright Haze, we still have plenty. The bear then calmed down and nuzzles his hand, but she was still disappointed in the birds. They managed to fill a whole basket and even start on a new one.
Lumikki stared at her basket of JOY candy and frowned this was not going as well as she had hoped. So far she had two gumdrops, a broken gingerbread branch, which clearly didn't count. And two shattered pieces of Candy Cane, which from experience told her that it was a good thing to have around. Deciding to hit the tree a little harder this time.
Yes yes this was going GREAT! She watched as three small gumdrops dropped from the three. And only frowned slightly when the one small frosting covered candy cane fell. It was still better than the first time she hit the tree. As she watched more candy drop down she was about to call over to Julian before she watched another ginger bread branch fall down on to her basket knocking it over. But it was okay she still seemed to have a decent amount of candy and more was falling.
Bouncing around happily she suddenly stopped as her tails knocked over the basket a second time. Jack...this was going to be a LONG field trip if she kept doing that.
Grumbling she picked up her basket and wandered to a new tree. This one seemed to be loosing branches rather quickly.
Setting her basket down at another tree she smiled this one looked much sturdier. Taking one of the gingerbread branches that had over turned her basket at least once she hit the tree soundly. This time she was going to be careful not to over turn her basket. As she quickly starts grabbing the candy that seems to be raining down all around her.
The first piece broke but that was okay the Candy Canes she had been collecting seemed to do that a lot. Then came more gumdrops these things were like gold in the tree. Another Candy Cane dropped breaking apart yet again. The elves might need to think about getting those fixed she mused.
However her excitement had been short lived. Didn't the professor say not to eat the candy? So where exactly did the broken three pieces of the candy cane run off to? Granted more candy then she knew what to do with was falling from the tree but she was still over whelmed about the fact that a total of six pieces of candy went missing.
Hopefully none of her classmates were silly enough to actually eat the candy, short of the candy canes she had in this place they weren't really that awesome...in fact...they kinda made you feel odd inside. But then again the candy DID make her feel better...when she was in the nice room...maybe a small taste couldn't hurt. Just the frosting on the branch...
Looking over at Julian she frowned he seemed to still be with an empty basket. Well hers had gotten pretty full, maybe she'd go back and see how he was fairing. Dropping the frosting covered branch she grabbed her own basket and trudged back towards him.
Lizzy knew that there was no time to rest; the longer she stayed still, the colder she would feel. However, as she pulled down the gumdrops hanging on the branches closest to her, she managed to drop several, losing them in the process. To make matters worse, she had stumbled over her own basket, causing its contents to spill all over the snowy ground.
Although she tried to refill it, the basket looked emptier than before... Especially since she somehow managed to repeatedly tip it over, her body unable to adjust to the cold; how she survived that very first field trip, the world might never know.
Levi might have lost what she'd gotten so far to the West foundation without realizing it. All that had dropped in her movements in the tree ended up in the boil's basket but she hadn't noticed his picking them up. Oh if her kin could see her now. In watching West climb up, Levi moved to yet another branch, making space for him so they'd both be able to pick on equal terms.
When he revealed his basket to be full, Levi's eyes went wide with awe. If her kin could see him right now. The wrath demon could pick himself some candy in the near blink of an eye. The tatzel's insides gave way to a bubbling sickness that wasn't all that displeasurable. This was something she felt the need to call up her Ma with and let her know her boilfriend could pick himself candy better than the rest of them. It was an admirable job well done and Levi felt a sense of pride that West had done so well, visually practically gleaming at him.
Then again, it was still a challenge. Her expression flattened a bit into a more usual sort of smirk while she worked to catch up to West. 'sspose it's fast 'nuff. Maybe. Continuing to collect, Levi's ears twitched to the sound of cracking. No, it hadn't been under her this time. Peering over to West's feet, Levi gave a cackle, crouching down to leer over the fallen wrath demon as his tail collided with snow. Looks like yer footin's still off though, kekekeke~.
As she worked to salvage what she could while grabbing at the candy on the tree, Lizzy tipped the basket over again. Even more candy was lost. How could she be so clumsy?
One minute they were in the school Gym, the next they were- Bah, freezing Christmas. Julian huddled for a moment before shaking out his feathers. He really didn’t like it here, but helping a classmate… He’d deal with the cold. It was nothing in comparison to dealing with the insanity. Fill a basket, didn’t seem… too difficult. Without a word, he went to one of the baskets and, rather than ramming one of the trees or climbing one like some of the other students there, he instead took flight and starting picking out the candies.
Lips pressed together, Lizzy started to gather candy again, shaking the tree with all the force of a great typhoon - or as much force as she could muster. Although she lost some pieces on the way, the candy that she was able to salvage managed to fill a whole basket; she even managed to find a few pieces of undamaged peppermints.
Her task done, she yawned, hugging the basket close as she wandered around, pondering filling a second basket.
He got a few rather quickly to start off with, but when he tried to grab three more pieces of Joy candy, they crumbled in his grasp. He had to be more careful about it. Julian moved to another part of the tree where he was sort of hovering in the air. It was far more difficult to do than flying around places or soaring, but he’d be able to maintain it for a few minutes before needing to take a break.
Another quick set! Julian was going pretty quickly at this, even if he did have a slightly slower start than some of his classmates. But then that seemed to be a recurring thing for him. His wings were starting to get tired, though, so he carefully landed on a branch to take a bit of a rest from trying to stay in one or two places. The unfortunate thing was he really couldn’t gather as much candy as he could when he was flying.

The demon recovered quickly enough from his fall to know that he hadn't been more than a little stunned upon impact, but he didn't get up, remaining on his back when Levi addressed him. "Maybe so," he said with a smirk. It was still a lot better than he'd ever done in a tree before, falling and all.
"Y'can stay up there an' get more. I'ma be right'ere." At least if he didn't move, he knew his JOY was safe.
As Julian was reaching for some more candy, he accidentally knocked a few out of his basket and hadn’t been able to catch then before they fell to the ground. Well, damn, that set him back a bit, but he’d just have to pick up the pace. A few more minutes and then he could go back to flying around the tree. That seemed to be working better than sitting here.
