Physical Description: Nuamia is very dark skinned, looking black in the right light, with short thick black hair and bright violet eyes that dance with emotions. She is not very tall, only 5’4. She has an oval face sits well in her asymmetrical hair style with heart shaped lips that are a lovely shade of rose pink and a petite dainty nose. Has she not been so outgoing and ready to upbeat she might have been considered a beautiful doll of a girl. Her adventures as a child, and work as a candidate, has left her with a toned body.

Personality: Nuamia is outgoing and adventureous. She is more ready to take the world by storm and explore every corner of it. Life is full of new things to try and experiences to have. What may come, things will work out she says, with a little luck and a lot of intelligence. It is an adventure to be had and there is no time to waste. She is willing to try things at least once before deciding if she likes it or not and keeps an open mind about new possibilities. In fact she welcomes new ones.

Of course this means she is rather impulsive and goes where her whims take her. She is more ruled by her emotions and passion than by her logical part of her brain. She can be very passionate about just about everything enthusiastically participates in life. Whether or not it warrants the enthusiasm. She often fails at reading social cues and the emotions of other people. When she gets really passionate and impulsive that is even more pronounced.

She is unselfish though and willing to share whatever she has. She doesn’t care about her own position with the Weyr or rank, just that things get taken care of. She isn’t the one that is important there, it the the Weyr as a whole and her loved ones. She has a joyous humor that is all in good companionship spirits. She loves to be with people and make new friends. New and old friends alike are also welcome to join her on her adventures.

Nuamia doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions much. She only sees the immediate results and not the long term consequences. Indeed, she is lacking in foresight and really even the ability to see them when asked to try.

History: Nuamia was born at Western Weyr the younger of twin girls to a Nuarok, a baker, and Koruimia, a cook, that already had five sons. Somehow, all of them, besides Nuamia and one brother, became riders. Growing up, she and her twin Koruika spent time being cared for in the creche and by their brothers or parents during the day depending on who was available. To Nuamia it was great fun with so many friends to visit.

Eventually when old enough Nuamia began to help out around the Weyr, though she was quickly banned from the kitchen by her own parents. Her impulsive nature ruined a few too many dishes and created one too many fires. Nuamia’s favorite chore was laundry. It was hard to mess up laundry and people loved to chat and gossip as they worked.

But rest days were the best days. Nuamia, and if she could persuade Koruika, would go explore the world. It didn’t always turn out well though. The most memorable was when they were 12 and snuck out of the Weyr. Her sister was against it from the start, but Nuamia insisted and won. It was all fine, until the found the feline and nearly got eaten. If Koruika hadn’t called out for their brother’s dragon who was frantically looking for the missing girls things would have been a little different that day. The twins were in so much trouble after that. No freedom, constant supervision, and the worst chores.

Koruika had a heart to heart with Nuamia and was able to get it through the girl’s head that maybe, maybe, things won’t always go well. Something that she doesn’t see when she is thinking of the grand idea at the beginning. Only after the fact when it has all played out. Together they came up with a way for her sister to warn Nuamia, who still couldn’t really understand how to see these issues beforehand, that she was headed down a bad path. Koruika didn’t want to just flat out tell Nuamia out loud still due to being so shy and unwilling to speak her own mind. That was too much for the older twin, so subtle ways were created. As these were set things to look out for that were out of the ordinary, Nuamia was more able to notice them than body language or voice tones. Nuamia promised to try and respect these warnings from Kourika.

She began standing at age 14 and the only big change in her life was the lessons. Chores were the same. Adventures were...a little more restricted. No more sneaking out of the Weyr. Then two turns ago Koruika impressed to a wonderful little white dragon. Who Nuamia adores. It was mixed though seeing her twin impress without impressing herself. She was thrilled for Koruika. And she had faith that if there was a dragon for her that dragon would be worth waiting for.

But it was harder than expected to be without her twin. Nuamia would look for Koruika and not see her there and be confused. Nuamia’s main friend was gone and she was having trouble with making other friends. It was becoming clear to her how much Koruika’s influence had been on their interactions with others. Her sister had smoothed things over and settled little issues Nuamia had never seen. Nuamia is now having to navigate teenage social lives on her own and struggling some. But she is upbeat about it and willing to persevere. Things will go right sooner or later.

Origin of Name: The Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation people of Old Crow call the Northern Shrike the Tzi kwut go katshi lyi, which is where Tzikwuth gets his name.

Inspiration: Northern Shrikes are some of the smallest birds of prey in North America. Long considered a subspecies of the great grey shrike, it was classified as a distinct species in 2017. These robin-sized birds feed on a variety of foods. The food depends on the season and its abundance. The food includes small rodents, small birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. Shrikes are known for impaling their victims on thornbushes and barbed wire fences as a means of storing them to be eaten at another time, garnering it the nickname of ‘Butcherbird’.

Personality: If we want the rewards of being loved, we must submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known, and Tzikwuth would rather die. If Tzikwuth could have been born a little blue, he’d have been much happier, because if there is one thing a little white is going to get, it’s attention and judgement and he would be thankful if you just...did not. See, if there’s one thing that is plain and true in this little guy’s eyes, it’s that he was born to greatness, born surrounded by greatness, and he? Well, he’s afraid to find out what he is. Therefore, it is easier to simply build up a persona of absolute neutrality with a desperate need to fill in any cracks anybody could possibly look in at him through.

Tzikwuth’s desperation leaves him able to read a situation, or proverbial room, at lightning speed and react to set himself up for the best odds of success. Whether that’s knowing when he shouldn’t even enter a situation or reading when is the best time to enter or excuse himself from a group, he is absolutely on the ball. He is happy to watch, and praise, the successes of his fellows while taking in what they did to gather up just how he should approach a similar task. Because unfortunately, Tzikwuth will approach each milestone in his life with increasing anxiety to not fail spectacularly - he doesn’t want to do well because doing well once means someone will ask you to do it again and he’s certain he’d not be able to replicate greatness - and require a lot of support and coaxing, less he self sabotage himself with stress.

The root of Tzikwuth’s problems come from how easy it is to see the greatness of those around him. He will personally carve the pedestals he would place his loved ones upon and make sure they know they are upon them for all of their goodness, greatness, and wondrousness - no matter how deeply he has to dig for any of it. It is simply so easy to toss aside the bads in other people. Yet for himself, Tzikwuth simply cannot do that. While he would never do it in conversation with his loved ones on purpose, it is clear that this little guy feels he falls short of the rest of ALL dragonkind he has ever met and that he has to try a little harder to even be in the same proverbial orbit as them. To face even a little rejection would be the worst thing that could ever happen to him - so it’s easier to just never let anybody see any reason to do so.

Despite his internal struggles, Tzikwuth puts forward only his best face. He does not have public meltdowns, no sir, and while sometimes in a desperate situation his words or eyes could betray he feels otherwise, he is composed at all times. If he’s not, how will he keep up that fine facade he has going that everything is fine? Yes, he can and does internally stress, but in the thick of everything is not the time to absolutely implode. After particularly stressful days, however, he will desperately need his rider’s shoulder to unwind upon.

Physical Attributes: Tzikwuth is a petite white, not just in length but in build. His tail and neck are on the shorter side and his wingspan is more narrow than one would expect a dragon to have. This actually works in his favor, however, as it helps keep him from catching unexpected winds while flying - a real problem at his small size - allowing him greater control and defter movement.

Additional Notes: Tzikwuth’s guilty pleasure is being an absolutely messy eater. He plays with his food during his hunts and has a tendency to go overboard with his kills, leaving a mess that his rider, or some other poor soul, will have to clean up after the fact. He may also leave something half eaten with the expectation to finish it later - and get incredibly distressed when some enterprising soul takes care of that for him.


Impression Effect: Nuamia will find her impulsive nature is well toned-down, thanks to Tzikwuth's refinement post-Impression. While she's still a go-getter, she's more mature about what she's putting her time and impulsiveness into. It will be less breaking the rules or sneaking out, and more drive into achieving her and Tzikwuth's goals

Why Me? Nuamia (Faesinger)

Tzikwuth and Nuamia are a balanced pair. To start, Nuamia's not very aware or good at picking up clues where Tzikwuth is sharp and clever. When she as her most oblivious, there's no doubt that her keen white will help make sure she's more or less aware of what to do and how to act in any social setting. He's a composed little dragon, and he will help calm Nuamia down when she's at her wildest--as well as help ensure they make a very good first-impression. Additionally, Nuamia's a jovial and good-natured spirit, who understands her place in the Weyr. While she isn't just a cog in the machine, she knows that they are simply one thread in a great tapestry, and she will be able to reassure Tzikwuth that he does indeed have a place and belongs in the Weyr. He need not be anxious with Nuamia, who will be there forever more to reassure and distract Hers from his concerns, as well as listen. He may have his doubts, but Nuamia will be there to shoulder his stress and offer him comfort. Ultimately, she should be able to lift the white's spirits when he's at his lowest, and help raise him up when he's at his most anxious. Additionally, her outgoing and adventurous spirit might force this little white to get out there and really spread his wings and live. He deserves to be seen...or, if he's not comfortable with that, at least deserves to get out there and see the world! This duo plays well to one another's strengths and weaknesses and should be a solid and reliable match.
