Jade Legacy [L5R 3eR] - Act 1: Atsumari/Gathering

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

As Kyumi would look over the papers for origami, desperate to strike up conversation, her Notice roll, with that raise that she threw in, would be enough to note that one paper wasn't plain like the rest. It appeared to be a letter. She didn't have time to read the whole thing at a glance, but she saw something, at the very bottom. The name of the person who wrote it.

Kitsu Kyumi.

"Are you Kitsu always so coy? I can see there's more on your mind than tea and origami, Kyumi-san," Doji Koan would say with a sly grin, getting up from a sitting position. "Perhaps we should move on to the real reason why you're here..." Koan would give the shugenja a very suggestive look as he began to lean over the table... and begin crawling over it, slowly, sensually, towards her.

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

Kyumi would snatch at the paper that had been signed with her name. She knew that she had not sent anything to the Crane, and was now curious and worried as to exactly what was going on.

"Just what do you think you're doing?" Kyumi would stare at Koan, and begin to back away (regardless of whether she'd managed to grab the letter or not). The shugenja would do her best to look angry and fierce, though if anyone looked close enough, it'd be easy to see the unease and even fear that lurked underneath.

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

That roll would be sufficient to grab the paper without tearing it; however, at the sacrifice of being closer to Koan as he grabbed hold of Kyumi's shoulders, grinning, a near wild look in his eye.

"Exactly what you wanted me to do. We've watched each other for a long time, it seems. I tire of this tournament and these games. Let's stop beating around the bush, shall we?" Koan would ask as he pushed Kyumi onto her back, with himself hovering over her.

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

"STAY AWAY FROM ME!" Kyumi would screech, as she would hurriedly begin to summon forth a bo of water.

She would hold the weapon between the two of them; her hand gripping the watery weapon tightly. "D-Don't come any closer!"

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

Doji Koan stopped as the long pole of fluid liquid constructed itself between the two of them. He just kind of... stared. "... the hell?"

A small smile began to form on the corners of his mouth as he did let go of the shugenja. "You're ******** with me, aren't you?" Koan would let out a low chuckle. As it died down, he saw that Kyumi had not backed down from her position.

Koan's expression quickly soured. "I won't let you just come in here and humiliate me like this, you b***h!" he said aloud as he scrambled backwards, grabbing his wakizashi near his things back across the table. He would stand upwards, pulling the blade from its sheath and pointing it menacingly at Kyumi.

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

That brief moment of retreat was just enough of one that Kyumi would make a break for it. She'd run out of the tent as fast as she could. Hopefully the guards outside would be enough to keep Koan from following...

If not, well, she wasn't about to stop running until she'd made it back to the Lion tent.

Stopping and bouncing the ball atop a foot, Denbe would intercept and turn to Makoto, before popping it up and then kicking it toward him with the opposite foot.

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

Whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop! As Doji Koan turns around with his wakizashi, Kitsu Kyumi is already halfway out the tent! "H-hey!" he shouts after her, but that's all she manages to hear.

As Kitsu Kyumi flees from the tent, she nearly topples over someone, bumping into him! But she would be in such a hurry to escape, she didn't have time to take stock of who it was, and she would make it back to the Lion Tent without further incident. It would still be unoccupied.

@ Kemari Competition:

Current TN: 13

Makoto would be ready to receive the ball, but suddenly, he did something... peculiar. The best way it could be explained was if he had attempted to mimic one of Denbe's earlier moves, attempting a spinning heel kick to the ball!

However, it was obviously a haphazard and unpracticed attempt, as the Tamori sent the ball rocketing towards the judging Magistrate, far out of bounds! Benjiro ducked and shielded his head with one arm as the ball crashed against the wall of the building he was leaning against!

TEAM 4 LOSES A POINT

"Ack!" Makoto gasped, seeing what he did. "Sorry, Benjiro-sama!"

@ Kemari, Second Set Finale:

"Alright, alright, match over!" Benjiro would call out, looking over his shoulder at the dent the ball had made in the wall. "Makoto-san, Denbe-san, a little more self control would be appreciated!" Benjiro would get up and go scoop up the ball, making his way back towards the ring.

"It's clear at this point that Ujina Denbe and Isawa Sosuke were meant to face one another. Kan-san, Makoto-san, you are free to watch the final match." The magistrate would bow to the group, and the two eliminated samurai would repeat the gesture.

"It was an honor playing with all of you," Kan would say before he vacated.

"When I get back to Dragon lands, I'm definitely putting some time into my Kemari training!" Makoto would say aloud to everyone and no one at all.

"Denbe-san, Sosuke-san, you've done well to come this far. Sosuke, would you do us the honors of starting the last match?" Benjiro would lightly toss the ball to the Phoenix, who would nod in acknowledgment.

With a gentle kick, Sosuke sends Denbe the ball! {12 vs TN 5, TN+3}

"I am sorry for the excess, Benjiro-sama," Denbe winced as he apologized, knowing that he was the one who had been acting out of place first for kemari. It made the game much more interesting for him, but it was meant to be a courtly game- not a Hare game. It would not do to continue further, he reflected, when it might cast a bad light upon Benjiro-sama.

Denbe would make a simpler motion this time, moving to try and kick the ball back toward Sosuke off the top of his foot, without stopping it this time, and without much force or spin. If he was counting on anything to make it harder for Sosuke, he would leave it to the quick return of the ball.

Sosuke would shuffle backwards as the ball went overhead. He would turn, kneeing the ball so it arced over his head, and he would kick it back towards Denbe with the sole of his sandal. {20 vs TN 14, TN+5}

@ Lioness Shenanigans:

It would be a few minutes before a rather skittish Kyumi would poke her head out of the tent to see if she was in the clear. When it appeared to her that she was out of relative danger, with her bo and scrolls in hand, she'd run off to go reclaim her attendant. As upset as she'd been with Omi the night before... Kyumi did not want to be all on her own after nearly being assaulted by Koan.
