Minowa was happy to take over the role of conversationalist "It was fun! I bandaged owies and played." he said proudly, taking a salmon bit and popping it in his mouth. At the mention of girls, though, he seemed to become downcast "...no." he mumbled and poked at his rice. Sypher looked up, finally, and curiously "Are you unhappy about that?" he asked, leaning forward to look at him. Minowa seemed to hunch down in his chair, still poking at the rice "....no...." Sypher's eyebrow arched and he looked at Inka, surprised at this sudden sullenness. Had Inka stepped on a touchy subject? Either way....Sypher leaned back and just looked at Inka with a very 'You asked. Minowa looked solemnly (as solemn as an almost 3yr old could be) at Inka "Meikio thinks I'm a toy." Sypher choked but turned it into a cough, taking a drink of water. Minowa didn't seem to notice as he continued "She puts my hair in bow ties and tries to carry me around." he seemed really upset about it as he looked at his food "Tanda-kun told me I couldn't play with him....cause he thinks I'm a girl." Sypher didn't say anything, turning his head away to fight laughter. It wasn't nice and he distracted himself by creating a clone to go check on the office. They smell good. Tanda-kun smells like dirt and poop." Sypher couldn't hold back this time and he spat water in a laugh, covering his mouth in embarrassment. Minowa looked shocked and stared at him with a curious look "Are you ok, Daddy?" blushing, Sypher nodded and Minowa turned his attention to Inka, his food finished "All the boys smell like that....but not Inka and Daddy. You smell like smoke and Daddy smells like trees." Sypher grinned at Inka and ruffled Minowa's hair. He looked to Syy for confirmation before trying to discretely smell a sleeve. All he caught was the whiff if fabric softener. "Well, anyway," Inka moved on. "Just because you and Tanaba-kun are boys it doesn't mean you have to play with each other. When I was in the academy I didn't get along with any of the other guys. Instead I was friends with two girls - you might remember meeting them once or twice. Heika now runs her mother's flower shop, and Mai teaches at the academy. There's nothin' wrong with it." To him, Inka smelled like Inka and he liked that "I didn't have friends." he said simply, adding his own tidbits to the conversation. Minowa looked at him then at Inka, sensing a better audience there "I know. But I don't want Meikio to put bows in my hair. Did they put bows in your hair, Inka?" he asked curiously. So Heika would wrestle me down and hold me still for Mai to braid my hair instead. I didn't like it at first. But it made Mai happy so I let her." Inka drank some more soup. "Point is, if Meikio's your friend you'll try to make her happy. If Meikio sees you as a friend she'll do the same. Next time she does it ask her to play something you both enjoy. Or make up a new game. Or learn to braid hair - she might like it if you learned. Mai did." He snuggled his head into Sypher's neck and Sypher put an arm around him to keep him up Braid hair? Some things just had to be learned through experience - like how to deal with females. Eating his last dumpling, Inka caught the look Syy was giving him. The Chuunin gave an unimpressed face. "I can also weave in ribbons, flowers... twigs." He warned with a mischievious twist to his lips. "Senbon needles, too. Though its been a while." He added softly, remembering Mai and Heika complaining that his hair was too short for them to practice senbon braiding with. A flick and less genin would bother me."
