Alex caught every movement Yin made, and every emotion that crossed his face, and each one just made him feel worse and worse. He should not have flinched away from Yin. Yin was not going to try and hurt him. Somehow Alex was going to have to prove to the weremantis that he trusted him, and if that meant letting Yin wrap those long clawed fingers around his neck then he would let him do it. Yin couldn't even hide the fact that he had sliced the palms of his hands, since Alex could smell it, and it made the zomboil feel like slumping back in his chair in defeat. He couldn't win this argument. He couldn't win any argument against the weremantis when it came to who was to take the blame for something.

But he had had to do the protection charm, so he did, and then Yin was telling him that he had done a better job, which he guess meant he was supposed to go to Nurse Cricket and receive the second part of his assignment when suddenly....

...Chaos. Complete and utter furry induced chaos exploded throughout the room as a barrage of scampering flufflballs skittered about the room. Nurse Cricket was asking students who had finished with the charms to help her capture them, and though Alex doubted he'd be able to chase down one of the furry creatures, he was fortunate enough to have one of them attempt to jump across his table. Alex's odd instincts that seemed to give him incredibly quick reflexes in his arms and hands proved to be useful at that point. His arms came up, his hands closing around that soft fur as the creature tried to jump past, and he pulled it safely to his chest.

That had been much easier then he had expected.

As Yin came back to his seat, still acting weird and awkward, Alex did something he probably would have never done. He held the minipet in one arm, his death grip ensuring the creature would not escape, while his other hand went under the table to rest on Yin's leg. It was only meant to be reassuring, nothing more, as most physical contact Alex gave the weremantis was meant to be. But Alex still didn't know how Yin would react to it, so he felt it was best it was at least under the table where nobody was like to see it.

Aye? Ah- looks like yer right. There were critter rolling about that Cricket said they should catch. Time to spring into action a good distraction! Let's go! And by that, she internally challenged him- she'd catch one before the reaper boil. Any indication of this was shown through her simple toothy smirk.

And she did. Using her tail, she flickered the end underneath a table, sweeping one of the critters up and grabbing at it quickly. Thar! Gotcha ya sneaky lil...

Thanatos watched as Levi bounced off, and then took his seat again, leaning against it as he watched his familiar eye the various creatures running around the classroom.

"Go play if you want to," He chuckled, "I have no real interest in them unless they are near enough for me to just scoop up."

Biskoto needed no further prompting as she slid off his shoulder and went off towards adventure.

Apparently, Biskoto wasn't a very good hunter.

Not very good at all, as another one of the creatures managed to slip past her.

Thanatos was actually about to fall asleep when he spotted a Lammit running towards him. Yawning, he waved the hand that had the protection charm on it in its direction, causing the creature to skid to a stop before bounding off in the opposite direction, away from him and the (dreaded) protection charm... And straight towards his familiar.

"Biskoto~"

"Got it, darling," The familiar struck out at the creature with her tail, grabbing and wrapping around it as she tried her best not to... Squeeze it to death or something. Returning to Thanatos' side, she lifted the Lammit up to him, looking quite proud when he leaned over to take it from her, "It'sss a ssslippery little thing, issss it not?"

Yep, just concentrate on this ball of fluff in his hands and try to focus on what a good hunter he was. That was the option he was going to take. He was searching to find something to say when suddenly he felt a cold hand on his lower thigh. He could not help that his leg jumped slightly in surprise as he stole a glance downward, not really believing what was happening. Was...Alexander's hand on his leg? Why? He quickly looked up, eyes darting across the crowd to make sure that no one was looking.

Why was Alexander doing this to him? In public? When Yin clearly did not like physical contact in public? Ordinarily he might have just pushed him aside but now? In class where it might draw more attention if he caused a scene?

Then his mind supplied the obvious answer. He had just upset Alexander by touching him in a place he did not wish to be touched. And now he was retaliating by touching Yin. In public. Sure it was under the table, but Yin knew what was happening and he could feel himself flushing with shame. Was this some sort of bizarre punishment then? If he left the hand on his leg would Alexander possibly forgive him for his earlier transgression?

And so, hyper-aware of the hand on his leg he tried to calm down and focus. Just, emotionless mask. Imagine you are in front of a ghoul. Show nothing, you do not reveal how upset you may be no matter what they do. It was almost scary how the training he grew up with flooded back to him as he simply began drawing into himself. Just bear with it. Just make it through the humiliation and prove yourself and it could all be over. "Congratulations on capturing a Lammit," he said stiffly, trying to keep up his act of everything being just fine and probably failing miserably.

Mitzi knew what a protection charm was, even though she'd never seen one before. Her parents probably thought (or at least hoped) that she didn't, but luckily they weren't here. Flushing slightly herself, she leaned over to whisper to Roch, "I probably should have checked before coming... what class is this, again?"

Her embarrassment faded quickly enough, and the ghoul started to grin. When she noticed how uncomfortable Roch was, the grin became distinctly mischievous.

She held still as the boil placed the protection charm on her arm, watching how he did it, and trying to remember as it stuck perfectly. Once it was her turn, she ripped open the charm, brushed his shirt aside, and pressed it against his collarbone.

When her own protection charm almost entirely failed to stick, only a few bits of the mark adhering to his skin, the Reaper ghoul was distinctly disappointed. She covered it up quickly enough, though, with a teasing smile. "You haven't had practice doing this, have you? Looks like you're the one who gets to pick up the next part."

Of course, she spoke too soon, as suddenly the Lammits were running about the room.

Alex felt the movement in Yin's leg, and he just about pulled his hand back like it had been burned. But maybe he had just imagined it...or Yin had just been surprised because Alex's hands were so cold...

A glance over towards Yin's face showed the weremantis very resolutely attempting to not look upset. In fact, Alex had never seen him try to look so blank before. And then the way he was speaking to the zomboil was just so stiff and terribly fake that Alex did jerk his hand away, mortified that he had done something to just make things worse then they already were. He would remember not to ever do anything like that in public ever again. Even if it couldn't be seen apparently it was still not to be done. That alone made Alex's heart sink in his chest as he came to the full realisation that they might never just be a normal couple.

He had expected this class to be awkward, but not like this.

Raising his hand back up to place on his desktop, he shifted in his seat as though suddenly very uncomfortable. "Thanks." He replied, his voice holding none of it's usual warmth or cheerfulness. "You too."

Willow chuckled, as Danny seemed to be rather perky. Her tail flickered as she waited for Danny to ask the question, however that came in the form of actually having the charm slapped on her arm. The tiger flinched a little not having been expecting that as the answer.

Her ears also pinned down when Danny cheered pretty loudly at all this. After a moment and Willow having rubbed at her ears slightly she opened the packaging on the charm in her hand and took Danny's hand to hold the demoness still and placed the charm on the other's wrist. Willow had mentally counted the time down and peeled off the foil, but apparently she'd counted too fast as she frowned when part of it came up with the wrapper. Well obviously this wasn't something she was good at.

"S-shutup!" The goul squeaked. Her sensitive side was showing. "I don't want to talk about this with you." She only just started talking to him again and already Deacon was making things incredibly awkward.

Riyo was tugging at her hood again as Cricket appeared, immediately calling the attention of the class. What would they be up to today?

... Oh Jack.

The demon's face paled to the color of teeth as she saw a charm in Cricket's fingers. Were they...? No, couldn't be!

It was.

You could almost see the soul trying to escape from Riyo's body as the foil was tossed down in front of her. She... Had to put a protection charm on Deacon. SHE HAD TO PUT A PROTECTION CHARM ON DEACON!

Her mouth had opened and taken a big breath of air, ready to protest and fight with every fiber of her being, but by the time she tore her eyes away from Cricket, the other bakeneko was already in position. There were no words to describe how pricelessly horrified her face was. And was that a drop of blood leaking from her nose? Yes it was.

Shock slowly turned to anger as she stared at the boil. Her hands frantically grabbed her own unopened charm and ripped the packaging in half. Placed in her palm, Riyo smacked Deacon's cheek as a method of applying their assignment. Whether it was good or bad didn't matter. With the force at which she applied it, that sucker wasn't coming off right away.

The punch took Enzo off guard. He was expecting some sort of backlash, of course, but his eyes were locked on the fluttering charm that landed on the table and somehow against all odds, got just a bit of it's glow on his finger.

The punch got quite a bit of his face. The skinny young man gave a surprised yelp before toppling backward off of his chair. There was a pained series of squeaks as several rats leaped out of his pant-leg about his shoe to avoid being fallen on, and several more roaches scurrying out of his shirt for dear life before they were smooshed by a stray freckled elbow.

"Well, Buster! I don't recommend puttin' your charm on your gal like that-" He laughed weakly, flexing his jaw to check if it was broken as he pushed himself back up to beam at West as though he was suddenly the most marvelous demon he had ever met, "But that's definitely a good arm on ya! You box, guy?"

He completely missed the little creature scurrying just behind him.

The minipet still eluded him. Nahm hissed and grabbed for it again; once more, the tiny, fluffy thing slipped out of his grasp. "Come here or I'll have you for lunch," he grumbled at it, ignoring the fact that he couldn't actually have it for lunch if he didn't catch it.
