People have been telling me I can make gold drawing Avi's. Never have done this before so I guess there is a first time for everything.

Just like RL, eh? wink Kai, I'm really glad I'm starting with you since you have experience. I have no idea what I'm doing. When to set up a trade…how much to ask…when to turn a job down…etc. All those important things I do in a RL career, but not here.

So I'm going to draw and then follow your lead…if that's okay with you. whee

Alrighty. It's a general rule that the one who is requesting the art starts the trade once the artist accepts the job so they know the buyer does have the gold/items (depending on what the artist will accept for payment) they promised. When the art is done the trade is completed. It's optional to send an altered image first so the buyer knows the art is done and is forced to complete the trade to get the final completed piece. I don't do it since I have never had anyone cancel out on the payment before, but would consider it if the price were over a mil gold or equivalent.

I don't have a set price for how much I'll do a bust/waist up/full body for. I have a general idea of how much my art is worth based on so many past offers and from experience people tend to overpay when there isn't a listed price. So I can afford let people throw out offers and take the ones I like. I've only had one person offer me 25k on a full color bust and I told them upfront that I have to decline because someone else had a better offer. It's also a factor that art isn't my main form of gold income on Gaia so I can be especially picky about what commissions I take on.

It's important to list what you are and aren't willing to draw (at least in a shop anyway). I'm open to a lot of ideas, but I don't feel comfortable with chibis, anthro, mecha or excessive clutter avis. It's a little different for everyone, but personally don't like experimenting to much on a commission. If I want to train to improve on a certain aspect I'll start offering freebies in some random thread in a guild I like.
