West kept slapping the creatures well past the point when he might have had a chance at getting away. He didn't really care, not even when he got caught. He continued punching bats and cursing brainless librarians and their poor taste even after he was given detention and released to his room to clean up.

Only really, he tried to stop both Avery and the Bats by pushing a bookcase over on top of them...

Hauling tail out of the pile of books, he noticed that a growling Avery was right on his heels. At least the bats were gone for now....

Trying to gain some distance, he tossed what seemed to be a smelly old book right at the professors face.

One of the bats which was assaulting him managed to knock something down closer to him, a book that smelt EXTRA moldly from before...

Well, it worked once right? He flung it at the professor.

Jil was absolutely flabbergasted that he'd abandoned them. She'd certainly learned her lesson about trusting Hayden as a reliable member of the faculty. Unfortunately he was the first faculty she'd encountered and had set a horrible precident.

As the student all attempted to flee, Jil gently shoved a shelf. Perhaps it would be a distraction or perhaps clear a path? Normally she would not be so blatantly misbehaved but dire circumstances..

Except she ended up buried. She would never be back in this library again.

With her concentration centered on the eyes in the back of her head, the eyes in the front decided not to relay the message that she was walking into a shelf.

AH HA! With all the falling books, Jil finally managed to make a successful break for it.

Jil, still on her way to the exit, could see the librarian on all of their heels. She snatched up an older book, a particularly crumbly looking one, and tossed it. Her plan worked well enough to distract Avery momentarily!

Another bookshelf shoved (she should have learned her lesson), Jil ended up buried in books once more.

FINALLY! The exit was within sight. The small ghoul leapt over fallen books, volleyed herself over at least one cart, and eye beamed a book bat right in the face just to get herself free from punishment.


BUT IT WORKED.
