Aidene grinned at the responses Laurel and Brook gave her. ”Nah, you'll just be responsibile for casting Scrougify a dozen times," she replied. She pondered what indeed Laurel's history might be. "It certainly involved cute genes,” she said with a blink at Laurel. Gorramit, did she blink again? ”And I suspect plants. Professor Hill has to keep plants at home, right?”
She tried to imagine Professor Hill’s house: Dim lighting. Warm and humid, like the inside of the greenhouse. The musty plant smell. Some organs in mason jars--organs planted in fertilizer! Where he was growing...organ plants! Laurel liked to read, so there had to be a bookcase and reading light-- a bookcase right between the Venomous Tentacula and the vat of student blood collected during detention. Yes. And flowers. Maybe the human heads--students who had killed plants-- hanging from the ceiling had flower crowns, and bouquets hanging from their teeth. Now if she imagined a long line of Professor Hills...Aidene added more skulls into her mental picture, including a thestral skull for good measure. THe thestral skull had a bunch of hilte and yellow flowers growing out of the eye sockets -- and snapdragons! Dried Snapdragons looked like skulls. Come to think of it, the Hills could probably use a pie. A fruit pie! To blend with nature but lighten the skulls up a bit. Quest unlocked: Bake the Hills a fruit pie.
Brook brought her ought of her daydreaming. She returned the wink, this time successfully? She might have blinked again. “I have seen the amount of food your house provides and it is definitely a lot of food.” She leaned closer pensively, eyes narrowing mischievously. ”Oh? Lots of cute girls? Brookie, are you trying to make me jealous?”
She waved a greeting when itty bitty Chadwick--Cenek? Gorramit, which one had been sorted into Ravenclaw?-- joined them, and swung an arm around Lavinia for a quick side hug. ”Lavinia! Plants, genes, skulls, food, and girls-- discuss.”

Lillith gathered each of the forms as they were handed in, nodding at everyone as they greeted her or congratulated her for the position. Not that it wasn't expected, but well, it made her feel more confident about her capabilities when she knew her team believed in her too. After the stragglers had arrived, she looked over everyone and decided that that was likely to be the only people showing up, so she clapped loudly to get everyone's attention.
"Okay, I know this is going to be a good year, but we need to have a good tryout first. For those unaware, I'm Lillith Whitethorne, and Benjamin Clarisse is my vice captain. Everyone that does know, sorry I had to introduce myself again." She looked over everyone self-consciously all of a sudden, and reminded herself that she could do this. If her mum could lead Gryffindor, she could do the same for her house. "Now that that's out of the way, we're going to make this simple for tryouts. Iggy, Lavinia, Canaan, and Brook, you're going to be split up into teams and scoring against Benny. Iggy and Canaan, you're going to be Bronze, Lavinia and Brook, you're Blue. Sona, Loke, and Cenek, you're going to be going after the snitch. Lastly, Laurel and Aidene, I'm going to set up some targets for you to practice your swings on. Got that everyone? Three laps around the field on brooms and we can start when the quaffle goes up!
Glad that part was over, Lillith went ahead and set up the targets. Afterward, she kicked open the box to let the bludgers and snitch out and grabbed up the quaffle. Flying upward, she waited for everyone else to get ready before she tossed the ball up. Tryouts was on!

Sonora hung around to do her laps with Loke and Cenek. She had thought it through and decided her quidditch season was probably better spent helping any aspiring seekers-- she wasn't going pro anyways, and they would have more years to play.
That said, she was still going to play her hardest when she was up to seek. "Loke, Cenek, good luck!" she wished them, hovering about before Lillith released the snitch.
She guided her broom to the edges of the Pitch and peered out, channeling her pet bird rather than her own bird self.

Aidene reached over to give Laurel a friendly punch on the shoulder before grabbing her broom and taking off for her laps to avoid retaliation with a maniacal laugh. "Can't catch me!"
Once the bludgers were off, Aidene immediately tracked down a bludger-- Target practice meant that she didn't need to hold an action to aim at someone strategic! She guided the bludger down towards the targets witih a few controlled taps before gearing up to do a cool move she'd seen her aunt do once: She lined the bludger's flight path up, then rollled over her broom, trying to catch the bludger mid-spin for maximum impact. ”Whoo--OW!”
Instead of a very elegant and powerful bludger to the target, Aidene got a bludger to the chest that knocked the wind out of her for a moment, not to mention nearly knocked her off her broom. As it was, it took Aidene a few moments to catch her breath. Yeah. That bruised.
But she was nothing if not resilient and after a few minutes, swept down to pick her bat up where she'd dropped it before rejoining Laurel. "The target is jinxed, the bludger hit me instead of it," she said by way of explanation. "Wanna chuck bludgers at each other instead?"
