smile into the chaos

Guys, I just want to announce that I will be cosplaying Ho-oh in two months time. I am constructing it out of plastic pcs so it will look like samurai armor! Ultimately, it will be lifelike.
This will debut in Montreal Canada.
I'm definitely interested in seeing this - both progress shots and the finished suit. Samurai and Ho-oh are both pretty awesome in my book.
Which convention are you wearing it to?Otakuthon. Not the most awesome name for a Con I'll admit... but I can't wait!
So the basic frame is almost complete (made from wire mesh) and I am tossing around the idea of going
SUPER FANDOM by making each plate/feather out of MTG cards. This will not only make me the happiest nerd ever, but will also cut down on the wieght and cost of the cosplay. My only issue is that it doesn't actually represent the 'samurai' plan I had going. Have you ever seen real samurai armor? It is hardcore and awesome - exactly what I would want to represent pokemon with in the current world.
For the record, acrylic plate is really expensive if you plan on using large quantities for a cosplay. It is messing things up. Anyways, I've got a few days to decide.
The skit is also coming together. You only get a minute on stage (cuz' of all the people) so I've got to capture Ho-oh perfectly. The end of the skit is all I really care about. There is going to be a built-in claw for each wing, which will release a few magical feathers! Remeber when Gold came out for the first time?!?! That was winning.
Thanks for the support. I plan on copying this design structure for other pokemon (if successful) and will share designs with whoever wants to see them. But seriously, $22 in mesh & $3 in wire is all that I've needed so far. I've spent more on makeup
