Yakut, much like her sister, was raised with very strict ideas about life and the way things should be. Females are viewed as the superior gender and should be able to take care of themselves even from a young age, whereas males as weak and not needed in life except for in creating new life. Though she is a warrior, born and trained of warriors, Yakut is a bit off. Those who don't know her may think she is crazy, and perhaps she is, as she is often seen talking to trees, rocks, feathers and other inanimate objects. In her mind these objects speak to her and tell her what is going on in the lands and may even warn her of incoming trouble. Her craziness aside Yakut has an extensive knowledge of herbs and is a well known healer among her family and herd.

From an early age it was quite apparent that something was different about Yakut. She was much your typical foal, playing with her sister and others in the herd, training when needed, but then whenever she was alone she would talk to things. Anything that lay around the forest floor she would speak to, whispering to them, and on occasion she would claim they would speak to her. Some called her crazy, while others believed it to be some kind of gift from the Gods. Whatever the case may be Yakut found herself looked upon with wary eyes from many of her herd mates. This never bothered the dark colored mare, she was special and she knew it. These voices were a gift and she would see them put to good use.
Herb lore and healing caught her attention coming into adulthood, and while the herd may have disagreed against the decision, she began to train with the herds current Shamaness. It was a role that she seemed to fit quite naturally into. Her quick learning brought new and positive attention. Yakut had finally earned the respect of her Sisters. She was approached often for herbs and to help with healing. Around the same time her sister Penthesilea became the newest Royal Advisor to the Queen, Yakut was blessed with the rank of Shamaness. The voices had been right all along, they had spoke of greatness for her in the future and she had now achieved that.
When the wore broke out Yakut fought on the side of the Queen. Her services were greatly needed in those days and she watched far too many of her Sisters die of injuries she could not heal. There was only so much a healer could do when wounds ran deep enough to see bone. The worse death to watch was that of her beloved Queen. Yakut had tried everything to save the mare but her age and injuries made it difficult. She stood in awed silence when she watched the Queen pass her rank onto her sister.
Now she travels at Penthesilea’s side as they search for members who had fled during and after the fighting. She knows her sister will not stop until the herd is back together, for Penthesilea promised the Queen that such a thing would happen.

If there is something that he wants you can bet Makii will get it, come hell or high water. His stubbornness pays off most of the time, though on occasion will get him into a sticky situation. But with some luck and a quick flight Makii generally gets away - relatively unscathed. His favorite past time is collecting small treasures which he hides in a secret spot, those items are his life and if he catches anyone trying to steal them they are in for it.
How he became bonded to Yakut seems a bit of a mystery as the pair rarely get along. Many think Makii finds it's amusing to constantly pester the dark colored mare just as much as Yakut enjoys tossing offensive comments his way.
