Thackery had some regrets about voicing his vine complaints aloud.

He should have just kept his mouth shut, really. Both the mud and the vines seemed extra bad this time. Or maybe they'd always been this awful, and he'd just been slightly more tolerant.

"I'm a good boil, promiiiise," he whimpered, kicking at the mud.

The vines new exactly what a good boil he was. He realized in horror that they probably liked it.

"D'you think these statues are ones like us that just got sooooo grossed out by the mud and water and stuff that they just...y'know..." He gestured vaguely at one of them.

But the movement got the attention of more stone bugs again. He shuddered when he finally shook the last of them off of him--and was immediately impaled by antlers.
