Parks his truck in the parking lot, smiles at Kat and goes around to open her door for her. He closes it once she's exited and he offers her his arm, escorting her into the restaurant. They are seated right away and handed menus. Another waiter brings them each a glass of water. He opens the menu and takes a look.* Hey bring us a bottle of champagne, okay sport? xd *The waiter rolls his eyes and goes to get it.*

I finally did it, Kat! I'm in! cool It's the opportunity of a lifetime! cool I'm going to Alaska! pirate *The waiter returns with the champagne and pours for each of them.*

She was about to ask him what they were going to celebrate when he announced that he was going to Alaska. She just sat there and stared at him, not really knowing what to say.

"Ah....well, I suppose congratulations are in order. I can definitely see you're excited about this." She gave him a small smile and took a sip of her champagne, waiting for him to tell her more.

*Takes a large drink of his champagne.* Out of all the candidates, only a select few were chosen to go. You have no idea how hard I've worked for this. cool This will be so AWESOME!! xd Alaska! Just the hunting alone is going to be sweet!! pirate There will be so many more opportunities for me when I get back! xd

"Uh huh....I can just imagine. So, how long will you be gone then? You do realize I haven't seen you in what, two or three weeks now? stare "

She sipped her champagne and tried to keep her temper in check for the moment.

I'm sorry, Babe. That's classified information and depends on the extent of my training. cool *Is a bit stunned to hear he hasn't seen her in two or three weeks.* confused Really? Are you sure? I could have sworn it was less than a week. confused

"Classified? Are you ******** kidding me? You can't even tell me how LONG you're going to be gone?" She crossed her arms and glared at him.

"Justin, how can you only be seeing me when you DON'T even see me? Hell, you haven't even texted me! AND you missed the grand opening of the new nightclub that Liada built that's attached to MW! So, I'm so glad you've got the assignment of your dreams, but I'd like to know where that leaves me. stare "

He has been working so hard to get this and busting his a** so long he hadn't really thought about where this left her or the position she may be in. neutral * Um. *There is a long pause and he sees she's upset.* Where do you want it to leave you? neutral *Treading very carefully.*

She sighed and looked at Justin.

"Truthfully? I don't know, Justin. It became pretty damn apparent on our vacation that we have issues. And I don't see how we can resolve these issues when you're not around for us to talk. I'm guessing you want me to just keep the status quo and wait at home like a faithful Stepford, when you don't even know if you want to move this relationship forward? How is that fair to either of us?"

*Talk…why is it women always want to talk? His eyes remain steady on her and he pays close attention to her body language and raises an eyebrow at her comments.* I don't expect you to be anything you aren't. *He pauses to take a drink of his champagne.*

You're right. That vacation we took was, um, informative. We are two very different people. I don't understand what the big rush is for you and I'm damn sure convinced that you want something I'm clearly not. *He reaches out and holds her hand.* Kat, I think you're great. I really like you. But I get the feeling you need something that I just can't give you right now. neutral

She pulled her hand away and stared at him. "So, I guess that leaves us at an impasse then, Justin. I want to have a man in my life that's actually IN my life. I really thought I could handle this...the long absences, the lack of communication...but I just can't."

She swallowed hard and felt angry tears p***k at her eyes. "So, I'm guessing this is it then?"
