Naomi threw herself down at the Ravenclaw table, she was annoyed to say the least. Her sister was a witch and she had enjoyed not having her around the past two years. She had glared throughout the train ride and in general just was not pleased with the entire situation. She sighed and watched the sorting, not really talking to anyone as per usual. She opened up her book and started reading, who cared what house her sister would end up in.

Ethan was not thrilled about the year kicking off. His summer was not the most spectacular, though he supposed it could have been worst. In fact, it wasn’t even that bad just relatively boring and uneventful. His parents were busy with work and then there was his little brother. Being fourteen was harder than he thought. How was he supposed to have everything figured out.

Luckily the train ride was a peaceful one and Ethan got to the school in one piece. Not that he doubted it, but it was amazing at times how all the students got there safely. Adults had their hands full and how they juggled it all, well Ethan couldn’t come up with an answer. At least he didn’t need to worry about exams this year.

Entering the great hall, Ethan walked over to the Ravenclaw table noticing Declan already present. Looked like he was growing his hair out. Definitely a difference there compared to the end of last year. Ethan couldn’t say much on it through, all he seemed to gain was a face full of acne. And people said being a teen is great… “Hey Declan, you seem excited for the sorting. Know anybody in the crowd?” He asked him as he pulled up a seat next to the boy. Ethan couldn’t say he did but it was always interesting to see how many new students would join each of the four houses.

Luna parted ways with her sister Naomi when they reached Hogsmeade station. Despite her sister looking undoubtable nervous, she knew she’d be just fine. So, like an older student should she left her to head to the castle her own way. The ride was nice although she didn’t say much to her carriage mates. They were a couple of older students anyways, hardly anyone who’d care about her existence.

Entering the great hall Luna noticing Declan with another boy in their house and then Naomi her dormmate. Walking over to the girl, she noted the book she was reading. “Hi Naomi, what are you reading?” She questioned taking a seat next to the girl. “Did you have a good summer?” She asked as she glanced at the sorting. Hoping her sister would make it through alright.

Declan looked over when he heard someone sitting down beside him and smiled at the boy he'd befriended last year. "Oh, hello Ethan!" Declan said with a smile. The other boy asked him if he knew anyone in the crowd so Declan shook his head which made his hair bob. "Nope, not yet at least. I try to remember everyone's names as they're sorted so that way I can remember them later if they need help in the hall or something. I want to be the person that people can rely on." Declan nodded, a smile lingering on his face. Since his first year, he'd been remembering all the students because he was forgotten in his last school. He never wanted anyone to feel like that. So, he would see everyone. Sorting hadn't started yet, so Declan felt comfortable conversing. "How was your summer? Read any good books?" Declan had a pretty elaborate lie concocted if the question was posed back, because no one wanted to hear about how he'd hid in his room from his parents for the whole summer.

Ethan was impressed with Declan’s drive to want to learn all the names of the first years. He couldn’t manage that, nor would he want to if he were honest. Granted he wouldn’t say he was the overly helpful type with the young students. He’d help if the moment presented itself, but the name wasn’t majorly important to him, until it was needed at least. “Me neither. You sure are a Prefect in the making. Would be shocked if you didn’t get it in your year with this level of commitment.” He replied, he’d see if that came to be in a few years time.

It wasn’t quite time yet for the first years to be started so they had time before it took their full attention. So of course, the mention of summer came up, no surprise. “My summer was rather uneventful and really quite boring. I managed to get a couple good reads in, to fill the time at least.” Ethan answered before asking. “How about you, get any good reads in?”

Naomi smiled at Luna as she sat next to her, and showed her the book cover, Death Omens: What to Do When You Know the Worst is Coming
"Hey Luna, Just some fun light reading before the school year starts." She folded the corner of her book to mark her spot and closed it, she would give her full attention to her roomie. "My summer was as drab as ever. Parents doting over little miss perfect as per usual because omg she's a witch too how lucky." Either fortunately or unfortunately for Naomi, she wasn't left wondering for long. Erykah was sorted into Ravenclaw, "And there goes the sanctuary that was Ravenclaw tower. Say Luna, are you good with silencing spells? We might be in need of one if that chatterbox doesn't well, stop chattering."

She could already see her sister sitting down, talking to the second years she was near. "You have a little sister too right? Are you hoping she's in the same house or somewhere else?"

Blue eyes twinkled when Ethan insinuated that Declan was a prefect in the making since it was something that Declan had a mind to pursue. A few years ago, a position like that was something that Declan thought was outside of his ability, but now, he was looking towards it. A pre-Hogwarts Declan, definitely not, but this Declan, definitely. Shifting a little, Deck nodded when Ethan said his summer was boring but he did get some good books in. Then he asked about Declan's summer. The question made him a little uneasy, because of his situation, but the way Ethan asked it made it a little easier. "Nothing new, really. I just reread my favorites mostly. My parents... don't exactly like me reading too many different books." A small frown creased Declan's lips, then the Sorting began which offered him an out. "Ooh, the Sorting is starting," he said excitedly, shifting forward so he could learn the names of the new students.
