((So...much...to reply to...0.0 I'll just take my time addressing as much as I can. And I'll sparingingly take over the parents for this and a couple more posts.))

Valen had been keeping a careful eye out for the dancing couple, the sole witness to their dance who seemed unaffected or uncaring about their closeness to each other. He could at least admit to himself, that the girl was looking like she was enjoying her time conversing with someone at the party she had been so reluctant to attend. And truly, had that not been his initial reason for approaching her in the first place; a nice simple conversation to ease the oppressiveness of the mind-numbing dull atmosphere that denoted such formal occasions as this? But on the subject of conversation he did have free reign to speak at length with her parents, which was a resource he promptly put into use for his own benefit. "They look wonderful don't they? It seems as though Jackie is enjoying her time so much that I won't be able to get a dance in edgewise...And certainly, her satisfaction is what matters most tonight. She looks simply radiant." He had no reason to lie on this point, for the girl did look dazzling when she was happy. It was part of her charm and nature, the aspect that had drawn him over exactly as the adage went, like a moth to an open flame. The realization that she was, at least verbally, far far more harsh than getting burned by fire of course only heightened the pleasant thought of cornering her later on in the night.

Mrs. O'Connor turned back to gaze at Valen in obvious dismay at the prospect he would be denied his rightful request, her look sympathizing for him as well as emitting her approval for his willingness to step aside for Jackie's happiness as he had implied. "Oh no my dear! That simply will not do! You'll be more than happy to come over with us after this soiree is finished! In fact, I simply insist upon it! Wouldn't you agree Barry dear?" Mr. O'Connor looked rather displeased at his wife's suggestion, tilting his head in a slightly hostile manner reserved for any male daring to come within an arm's length of his estate that was of marriageable age for his child. "I would be inclined to agree, but Mr. Paendragon surely must have something more to do for the night than stay with us. It would be unfair to him and to her as well."

"Oh no my good sir. It would be no trouble for me; however, I confess that Mr. Sharpe will have to speak with you both later on. You both had not met him in such a long time that it would be only proper for him to make his own arrangements to reconnect in due course. If I can suggest it, can I schedule a visit to your grounds at your earliest convenience after his own?" This opportunity provided by the custodians of his poor victim was one of his aces in the hole, for he could control his own visit assuring he could corner Jackie without interference from the Coginitio as well as avoiding the other man's presence in its entirety as best suited his purpose. "Let us say...Perhaps two nights from now if you are amenable to the date, or I can stop by in the afternoon and stay through dinner. Of course, I could also spend the day, with your permission naturally, speaking with you both until Jackie is ready to receive my presence."

Soon enough his suspicions came to pass as the first newcomer, Mr. Johnson, approached with an air of determination and familiarity that suggested he had not casually wandered over Ah unholy hell. It seems the opposition has raised the stakes quite well for this game. Sharpe and Ms. O'Connor were almost certainly forcing his hand at playing back in their game of conversational chest, prompting him to utter a slight rebuttal upon his own behalf. "I am a servant Mr. Johnson, I'm sure that I would be hard at work rather than taking a break here merely to speak with the most delightful couple in the room. Then again, I do spend my leisure time helping to manage the Melrose Estate in my own way." Invoking the name of Sable's fortune was an act he had never been forced to do in his entire existence, yet he was more than willing to overwhelm this strutting neanderthal with only a minor insult. "No, I am merely a scholar and entrepreneur on my own time, doing my best to ensure a comfortable living for myself. Of course, if you have a problem with a man going about doing his best in life, I would be happy to remove myself from your presence."

In the meanwhile the O'Connors turned in surprise at the young affluent man who had so rudely presented him, the husband's features immediately clouding over in disdain. Barry had been a self-made, hard-working man and this upstart popinjay of a boy had his imminent contempt for the acting as the stereotypical manchild through his actions hovering near them. "Perhaps you should depart Mr. Johnson. You were rudely interrupting a truly pleasant young man, and one whom I find quite excellent reared...Unlike yourself." The dismissal was quite clear in its meaning, as Matthew's hopes were expertly dashed to the wayside for his unwanted intrusion. For his part the vampire received yet another pat on the back from the seemingly older gentlemen, accompanied by a clap of approval from the wife. That Sharpe's plans had only served to augment and cement his position with these parents was made apparent with the small smile that blossomed forth on Barry's lips directed towards Paendragon's motionless figure, a sign of approval very rarely given to members of later generations than his own. "In fact, as you were saying young Valen, we would quite like for you to come out and visit us later on beyond tonight. Let me provide you with the address and the number for the main line for now..."

And with that he had obtained two vital bits of information that would only serve to ruin Nicholas' plot to strike at him. Memorizing the information he smiled before prompting a small request to the parents. "Thank you both kindly for the invitation. I only ask that you not let Mr. Sharpe know of my visit, the precise timing of which I will relate back to you later on. His own visit would take far more of your time I feel." The feeling of triumph that rose in his chest at having prevailed over Mr. Johnson was short-lived for the vampire as he took noticed of another stumble in his plans; the old women rudely shoving towards them with what seemed to be...Don't tell me he actually foisted these social vultures on me...Damn him. That's the last thing I need to be fighting off would-be brides eager to have me settle down. Upon the entry of the 'doting' grandmothers and their progeny the Consort fought back against an icy vein of dismay worming its path into his core. The sheer stench of cats and perfumes, for such a nauseating odor could only arise from multiple sources being put into effect at once, left his throat contracting with the urge to gag and return the down appetizers immediately to the surface. Not that he did so out of the sake of appearances; it would be equivalent to social suicide for him to ignore the carnage of his own Clan's proclivities yet somehow be vulnerable to the 'aroma' of mere humans. Their actions of foisting their empty-minded daughters of course had the added effect of inciting a fresh wave of indignation and grudging admiration for the snare in which he was so neatly bound. It would seem the Cognitio has no limits to the depths at which he will sink to prevent my fun....Very well. If that is how it is to be, I am left with no choice.Let the games truly begin in full. He had long since seen through those plastered smiles dropping in on him from all sides, the scene reminiscent of his last training session against live adversaries. The tactic then, as was the case for the Immortui now, was simple enough and easily executed into effect; redirection. Speaking directly to the grandmothers was the first step in his grand design as they would prove the most troublesome if left unchecked. "My my, welcome my dear ladies! I don't know why you are presenting your sisters upfront, but I do appreciate the visual feast arrayed before me." With a flirtatious smile he bowed forward, taking both elders off-guard with his next statement. "I assume you ladies are here upon Mr. Sharpe's recommendation? He always knew how to pick out the gems of a crowd..." Seeing their wizened cheeks flush in a rare time of silence the vampire dispatched them before the situation could get any further out of hand. "And now then, I do believe you both might wish to speak with Nicholas directly on my behalf; tell him that he really shouldn't be recruiting promising young men here at a party. He has enough connections to keep anyone busy for a lifetime on the subject; if I were you both, I would keep my eyes on our white-haired acquaintance for he will surely help forge a path for suitable candidates for marriage."

Wheeling the two girls around however, Valen had a devious grin of retribution for Jackie first. He had no doubt in his mind she was at least half responsible for the mayhem of his upsurge in popularity, so he felt fully justified in his next actions. "Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor these lovely ladies seem like just the sort of girls you'll want Jackie to be around! I'm sure they can help improve her evening together with Mr. Sharpe. Of course, I'm quite sure that they will be needed later on for Mr. Johnson's attention. They are quite stunning, albeit not nearly as much as yourself Mrs. O'Connor. And now if you'll excuse me, I must present them to our dear Jackie for her approval, and to speak with Mr. Sharpe pertaining to his appointment with you both." Flashing a smile to all the humans in his immediate vicinity he knew that his unearthly charisma was paying back his slight efforts tenfold. Clarity was simply the best option towards his social manipulation in progress as he pointed out Jacqueline together with Nicholas during his path walking over towards them without a single note of hesitation.

"Oh Valen, you are a tease! Shame on you flattering this old woman!" Maria called back in delight, obviously pleased by the compliment aimed towards her. "Now Valen, it would be best if you make your way over to Jackie post haste if you are to get your dance tonight! Don't worry; we were dying to speak with Margaret and Evelynn here. Just be sure you enjoy yourself! Oh and do mind our daughter's dancing, for she has not taken up her lessons as she was supposed to..." Mrs. O'Connor gave out a small sigh of confusion to her daughter's antics, never quite understanding her loathing of all things associated with high society. "Oh yes Mr. Paendragon, you should be on your way to get the dance you've requested. Take your time and be careful with her," Barry chimed in, his grey head shifting as he shook his head at the thought of something going wrong in the evening. "It would kill us both to learn that Jackie might get hurt here at a party of all places. Mind you, once you're out of sight you both will be behaving properly, won't you?" The gruff tone of his voice underlined the fact that he was extending some form of trust to the vampire, a useful enough little detail that only served to further the sinister plot the seemingly younger man had already set into motion.

"Mr. O'Connor I will be an absolutely proper gentlemen on your behalf. It is already enough of a privilege to have your blessing for the night." With that the Consort took to moving away from the older attendees in favor of pursuing the target of his attention across the dance floor, neatly skirting his way with the women on either side of him following like sharks that caught the scent of fresh blood. It had been quite kind of the white-haired Consort to provide the tools of his own undoing, as the girls would have remained infatuated with Valen but for the shading of his eyes. His purple gaze was such a rich vibrantly royal shading that he took the time to whisper into Merelyn and Josephina's ears, his warm breath preceding a renewed wave of giggles. "My dear ladies look at those gorgeous eyes. That is my good friend Nicholas Sharpe. He has just finished dancing with Ms. O'Connor there, and I know that he is more than amenable to a few more gorgeous partners for the evening as yourselves." The foursome comprised of the Immortui, the two simpering chits, and the pompous a** descended as one to meet up with Nicholas and Jackie, the three human puppets playing their roles to utmost perfection. The girls swarmed on either side of Nick and took each of his arms into their own, pressing his limbs against their chests coyly demanding his attention. While Johnson did approach Jackie he was rebuffed by the inhuman's advance taking advantage of his opening. As consolation however a whisper came into Matthew's ear, softly remarking that Nicholas knew many eligible girls and would happily set him up on a few prospective dates should he ask him to do so immediately. With the spoiled business heir adding onto the crowd forming around his rival the Immortui nodded over to Sharpe in recognition of his efforts at trying to stop him. They had failed quite spectacularly, but then again his opponent had not known whom he was dealing with. "Do pardon me Mr. Sharpe, but I've come to collect that dance..." he replied almost demurely, his arms slipping around Jackie's waist spiraling to pull them both out of the Cogintio's range. What else could be done from his position, with Jackie's parents looking at the proceedings across the way making sure nothing was going amiss?

And with that Valen had neatly won time alone between himself and the young heiress, using the whirling figures of the dance floor as colorful living barricades keeping the reluctant couple isolated towards an outward wall leading to the gardens. This little area was surprisingly enough the passage that Kael and Marie had taken just minutes earlier, though he was not aware of that fact at the precise moment. Setting Jackie down against the wall he flashed her a small flirtatious smile, taking in her flushed features from what he knew was absolute rage brought about by his manipulations. "Now then Miss O'Connor, we are alone at last. Feel free to thank me for making your evening far more entertaining than it was a few minutes prior. Aren't you glad that I came along after all? But first, one of my rewards." With a small laugh he leaned forward and stole an embrace from her lips, stepping back to let her stare up towards his features. It would look to be quite the sight if any of the dancers had been paying attention to the strangeness of the event. Yet for whatever reason none of the other humans seemed to be paying much mind to the girl's predicament caught as the object of this cold war among the inhuman males.

((...Yes. Valen's famous. That's certainly worth the headaches for him right? Note to self-Get up for Gaia earlier just to avoid writing this much all in one post as opposed to several....My respect for your posting size Cake has climbed up astronomically.))

With little complaint Jackie aloud herself to be lead from the dance floor
with out complaint, grinning almost childishly at her male counterparts comment on
snacks “well for someone who is a part of a supposed large estate ice cream by its self
seems a bit cheap no?....consider me sold on the idea!” the dig towards the wealth of the room
she knew wouldn't go un-missed by her white haired protector as they skirted their way
around the dance floor, several heads turning to follow the unusual dance pair.

Stopping just short of a small cluster of semi-drunken business men Jackie
“So, 'master', show me how you work then” No sooner had the playful quip left Jackie's mouth then
a grating, and in her opinion, high pitched, male voice cut through their conversation.

In less then a second the woman’s smile was vanisher, her right eye narrowed dangerously. Of all the people in the room this bolstering young male was Nicks first choice? In all honesty Jackie only knew of the mans attitude, he was a self entitled man child her father had refused to represent in a petty owner ship skirmisher. From what her father had to say Johnson had very little between his ears, glancing up at his face Jackie could tell that not a lot had changed in that department over the year.

Tucking herself behind Nicholas's tall form Jackie watched with something akin to amazement as -with a few honey coated words and a play on his own insecurity- her white haired partner dispatched him off towards her parents, his chest puffed out as he strode toward the trio.
Raising an eyebrow at the much taller male Jackie tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
“I don't know wether to pity the idiot or worry that you could do that all with a straight face!”
Chancing a short glance in her parents direction an malicious smile flitted across her face as the parading male intruded on Valens conversation, unaware that after she turned to face Nick her father had handed out their home address, that was defiantly going to be a nasty little surprise for Jackie when he turned up at her house supposedly unannounced.

Latching her hand back with Nicholas's Jackie allowed him to manoeuvre her through the crowd, waving off his apologize with a mear shake of her head, the idea had been mainly hers and if she could help him out (even if it was just to have lecherous perverts stare at her) she would try.
It wasn't actually until the smell hit her that she noticed Nicholas had cornered another annoyance to send Valens way.
Gazing at the woman Jackie felt her stomach heave, the over powering smell of cats causing the socially inept girl to pinch the bridge of her nose as she subconsciously shuffled a few steps back.
She was an old woman with a very outdated sense of dress, one that defiantly did not flatter her portly build. As she addressed Nicholas, the lady’s (who's name had slipped past Jackie as she busied herself with blocking out the repugnant smell that was assaulting her scenes) face stretched, into a rather large, rather fake sugar coated smile as she conversed with the white haired vampire human before having her attention redirected, just like Johnson towards the ever growing group that surrounded her parents. The old biddy shuffle, off, just like the male, muttering something that sounded distinctly to jackie like an insult about gorgouse men choosing unmannered women.
Jackie shut her eyes, letting out a loud puff of breath, she had been holding in since the old lady moved closer to Nicholas, her shoulders slouching in relief as the smell faded “R..remind me why you know people like that.....”

Jackie ran a hand thorough her hair laughing slightly at the rhetorical question, completely unaware of the fact that Valen was stalking towards the couple.
"I'm not that violent!" she gave a playful indignant snortglaredgrinned in the older males direction.
"and don't worry about me, I'm keeping up just fine....dealing with old, socialy repugnant people is my lifes dream!" glancing around the room Jackie pulled an indignant face as she eyed the men in the room "they are perfectly welcome to have them in their family, Infact i'd host the wedding!"

With little warning the two girls Valen was now toying with (admitidly they had started it) seemed to faze in from her left, catching jackie off guard mid-conversation.
Their make-up caked faces pulled into sugary sweet grins and they giggled like children.

Jackie watched in horror as the two harpies dogging the black haired vampire's human's steps attached themselves like lamppery eels to Nicholas, their body’s pressing far to close to his, for what Jackie considered public decency. Dread settled in the pit of the brown haired woman’s stomach as slowly (and unwillingly) she turned her head to face her parents, her jaw dropping open unceremoniously as the only members of the group left seemed to be two old females, one of which she recognized as the cat lady.
'thats means he's....'

“....i've come to collect my dance...” Jackie's thoughts where stopped mid flow as an arm snaked its way around her waist, Paendragons smooth (and slightly smug tone) echoing like the crack of a whip in her mind as she was pulled further away from her nicholas's reach.
"your not collecting anything" her response was frosty and forced through clenched teeth as she dug her heels rigidly into the floor, though this did nothing to stop Valen who nearly pulled her along like a rag doll.

Apparently they had both vastly under estimated his ability's in the social arena and where now about to pay the price.

In seconds Jackie found herself cornered, away from Nick's protection.
Growling defensively Jackie crossed her arms, a look of pure defiance painted on her face as she glowered at the man stood in front of her, blocking any way of escaping.

Jackie yelped as once again the male invaded her personal space, her face changing from defiance to cold fury.
“I swear to god kiss me again and i'll make you regret every millie-second you have pestered me tonight.....” Tensing Jackie's hand slowly moved towards the top of her left glove, hoping her moments went unnoticed.

((I think I'll cut my post size back to the norm for me now. I just don't like the prospect of another super post today since the one above is...well...Look at it. -Deactiviates Cambio Forma to get back my Storm Monkey-))

Valen stepped back taking note of her hand itching for the chance at retribution, though he turned to offer up his left cheek for her needs. "Oh by all means punish me 'Mistress' Jackie. I've been so very bad tonight, and you do need to work off all that tension and aggression no?" he laughed, his eyes alight with sincerity in complete contrast to the somewhat sarcastic undertone of his words. His right hand slid forth to take her own right, keeping her momentarily from attacking before he kissed the back of it just to antagonize her further. "I must say though, that if you are to hit me at all 'Mistress', can you make it for what I did to you in the hallway?" He leaned forward to whisper his singular statement into her right ear, taking the time to keep her pinned against the wall. He knew he was goading the human into a violent response against him, but frankly he was unconcerned. Of course, he wasn't completely foolish enough to stay within range of her legs to kick him, yet he was blissfully ignorant of the surprise courtesy of Nicholas' present to Jackie on her person...

((It's not too long at all Snuggle. And the master line isn't that dirty... -Lies-))

((-does a Tsuna and runs off- no more uber posrs ))

Jackie stiffed visibly as Valen goaded her further, the undercurrent of sarcasm
causing anger to rise and course through her body like an angry serpent as the vampire lent in, his words snapping her already frayed temper.
“It’s Miss. O’Conner and….” The tone of Jackie’s voice changes, to light and humorous as her fingers fastened around the small white bottle, a small, sickly sweet smile plastering across her face
“consider it pay back for the ‘wonderful’ night you’ve given me” In seconds Jackie whipped the bottle up to valen’s face, her finger jamming down hard on the nozzle.
Jackie made a mental note to thank Nick if this plan actually worked with a piece of cake from her uncles café.

((Hah. All the posting's been very good. It's making this RP look amazing. The master line was.. interesting, heh. I'll edit my post into this if you give me a moment to work through all this.))

Mr Johnson was a brittle individual when it came to these matters. He had been shot down many times, it was almost a sport. For everyone else it was a game to see how many people would dismiss his presence.
Paendragon's and Mr O'Conner's words quickly made him lose confidence in his chances here. The man was getting more desperate and had to honestly start considering settling for those vixens those ancient witches dragged around...
For now though, the suggestion to go see Nick again seemed fair enough. That man had quite often shown patience to him even with his constant gripes about his exploits amongst the female population. Matthew followed Valen in seeking out Sharpe and the young O'Conner girl.

The old women glanced at each other and laughed when being complimented by the dashing gent. He was perfect, as far as they were concerned, and a must have. They would need to find the rest of their female relatives and see how Valen took to them.
They raised their eyebrows though when Sharpe was mentioned. Now, Nicholas had pointed out that the Paendragon man was accompanying the O'Conner's, but it was very much their own idea to go over. No one actively supported their constant attempts at mixing their murky blood with that of the poor victims whom caught their eyes.
The ladies took the compliments well, but Nicholas' reputation would stop them from speaking to the man about the subject of marriage, again. Nicholas Sharpe was an extremely resourceful individual. He tended to have all the news when it came to this high class group of people, but they all quickly learned Nicholas, and Anastasie, were not to be trifled with. Their patience had limits which people had reached before, trying to take advantage of them. It did not end well.

With Valen pushing off so quickly with the younger women, the older ones decided to stick around with the O'Conners. They stayed in conversation for as long as the O'Conner's could bare their company.

Nicholas was taken by surprise, and angered, by the sudden presence of the women at his sides - and their close proximity. They should have known better after last time. When Matthew Johnson tried to talk to him too during this, Nick's glare forced the human to back off.

Nicholas lifted his hands and forced the girls off him. "You disrespectful cows." He started sternly and his displeasure was evident. Any person around witnessing this avoided the situation, taking note that the ladies of those certain families were at it again.
"You dare flaunt your looks around me like a couple of street ******? Don't be so arrogant as to think that those empty heads of yours will ever make for more than a pair of maracas with your pea sized brains, you dumb bimbos." He growled at them both. "I'll be merciful and not tell Lady Anastasie of your ridiculous approaches. Make sure to tell your grandmothers their support of CEAWE operations are no longer necessary."

Nicholas took a brisk step past them, and Matthew Johnson attempted to approach him now but he put a quick stop to it. "Not. Now." Nick's unusual behavior was not noticed by many as the music had just changed and numerous individuals were taking to the dance floor. It was of course known he had no respect for people that took advantage of his generally pleasant attitude. The trust of the Cognitio members had to be well earned to take benefit of their vast connections.

Hmph. Nick grunted in annoyance. The smells of the numerous humans covered the smell of Valen or any other vampire. Where could that rascal have taken her... Then, the smell of the spray. He had actually pushed the girl that far, that idiot. It was quite easy to navigate his way to them now.

((Finally, all the NPCs are out of the picture xD No need to write for them right now so the length will come down.))
PostPosted: Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:10 am

((Agreed. To both your statements.))

He knew he should have snapped the Cognitio's neck the moment the great annoyance had revealed himself. The blinding pain of the pepper spray striking him directly was beyond agonizing, yet he refused to make so much as a sound at his debilitated condition. His left hand found purchase on the girl's arm, his eyes tightly shut streaming silent tears that were an involuntary admission to his suffering. Trying to retain hold of his senses the Consort's inhumanly powerful grip held onto her left wrist, keeping the offensive gift out of range for a second serving of torment. The infected area of his eyes reduced his vision to that of dark almost devoid of color blurs in place of proper features, his right hand reaching out for something, anything, to help steady the vampire. Of course, with his sight so badly impaired he could not be held to blame as his finger grasped her chest in his efforts, his lips parting to speak out through another burn of the chemically induced blindness. "Have I mentioned...Miss O'Connor...That you are so very dazzling as to leave me blind and at your radiance?" Even in the midst of considerable pain he was still toying with Jackie, though inwardly he resolved to watch her as a genuine threat henceforth. After he finished speaking he broke in a small bout of coughing that perfectly accompanied her self-defensive affliction upon him, his chest heaving with each short painful spasm.

((Okay, I had to introduce at least one NPC taking into account the possible presence of people in the Garden. Though the post wouldn't change much if it was taken out. Judge was just the first thing that popped to my head, lol.))

Nicholas' hand landed on Valen's shoulder and he intended to pull him back from the human. "Assaulting young women... you sick rat." He stated out loud. Any humans also in the garden took clear note this time - Nick's statement, the man's closeness to the girl, and the spray bottle in the girl's hand, as well as the pain on Valen's face seemed to support one, single negative idea. People were staring at the scene in shock and curiosity, wondering what might happen.

A middle aged man in a suit marched up to them then. He ran his right hand over his bald head and his mustache wobbled as he spoke. "Mr Sharpe? What is going on here?" The man asked in a deep voice and glared at Valen Paendragon.
"Lord Justice, it would appear that Valen Paendragon has certain interest in young Miss O'Conner, perhaps a little too much so." Nick put it softly, but the man understood fully.
Lord Callum Justice was a judge of the Metropolis city high criminal court. Such a significant professional and social position was of course common amongst these high class humans.

Callum's face crumbled up and reddened, making him look like a very agitated turnip and he began removing one of his gloves off his hands.
"... Please, Lord Justice." Nicholas interrupted before the human challenged Valen to a duel of honor. He was old fashioned like that. "Go inform Lady O'Conner's parents." Nicholas shared a look with with the human who was taking this matter quite seriously, but he failed under Nick's persuasion, and stormed off.

"Your game is over." Nicholas spoke quietly. He had been expecting to find Valen just annoying the heck out of Jacqueline and in her fury she had struck out. It just appeared to work out, to Valen's misfortune, that he was caught in an even poorer situation after being hit by the spray.

News of this situation would spread quickly. The people were generally of course quite judgmental and critical of those that dropped their high class manners, as well as prone to gossip. The worst thing was Valen's sullied reputation would reach the people he associated with - namely Sable Melrose. No one would have thought a person of the caliber of the Melroses would associate with ... Well, there was no good single word to describe this.

Trying to slip past as quickly as possible Jackie let out a loud yelp as valen’s hand fastened tightly around her wrist, his force almost bruising as he pulled her back into place.
.L…LET GO!” Her voice came out strained as tears rolled down her own cheeks, a mirror image of the vampires own face.
He was a lot stronger then she expected him to be.

Jackie’s thrashing stopped the moment she felt the slight pressure hit her chest, her eyes widening considerably as her crying increased, loud desperate sob’s echoing off of the walls, only adding to the cry’s volume.

Closing her eyes the clearly terrified woman flattened herself against the wall.
Then it stopped. The feeling of Valen’s vice like grasp on her hand pried away, leaving her arm to fall to her side – the already tired nerves refusing to respond and leaving her limb as dead weight.
Biting her lip in fear that he had recovered already Jackie cracked open her eye, a fresh sob leaving her as she spotted Nicholas.

A new found admiration for the man built up in Jackie’s chest as she lunged forward, tucking herself behind her white-haired saviour, the sprey can clattering to the ground forgotten as she tangled her fist into the back of his Jacket, her face pressed solidly to him, just under his shoulder blades as hid from Valen, from the people in the garden, the judgmental stairs from the party its self.

(( -////- yeeeh….that line was put together with the 5 seconds I had before running out the door….Y~Y though I kind of feel bad for Valen (Jackie wont) I hope it helps with what to post >.<....if not urm....help >.<))

((GAH! REVISION! Forgive me for taking control of Justice Cake, but I need him to get this finished.))

Still staggered by the pepper spray had disoriented his senses precisely as planned by Nicholas and Jackie in advance no doubt. He could only recognize the girl's left hand in his own left because of the acceleration of her heartbeat at work beneath the surface, but beyond that he was confounded to the point of unwilling ignorance. The most prominent of sensations in his thoughts, the searing pain of the retaliatory burst of mace, was enough to keep his vision from returning for several minutes indeed. Even now the Consort remained blinded, and he could not immediately place others around him short of his sense of smell and even that required him to get past the blistering heat of his discomfort. With the girl's crying however he knew that something had gone horrifyingly wrong. What's going on? What is happening? Did I actually hurt her? For all his flirtatious intent he was not in the habit of hurting others unless he disliked them or was left with no other choice after they had incurred his wrath such as the Cognitio Consort.

At the harsh accusation of his supposed 'assault' Valen did not betray any sentiment at all; he knew instantly that what had been a private response for his rudeness was being trumped up into a more impactful social incident. Nicholas Sharpe...This is indeed a most excellent game. I both admire your wit at controlling these humans and loathe your opportunity at doing so. I shall resolve never to believe you will not strike at the most random and out of place moments, nor to expect you to not use everything in your power to ruin what was originally to be a mild distraction. With that he immediately broke himself back away from the girl before she promptly fled, still as yet unsure what exactly had transpired. "My pardons to you Ms. Jacqueline for...Whatever happened. I do not know what just happened, but I do ask for your forgiveness on the matter." There was no fault to be found in his words for they were the truth; he had no idea what precisely had happened after he had been blinded, though he doubted she would believe him. In this his own actions had come to strike him with careful direction from the other vampire.

Fortunately enough it was a simple task for his anonymity to play to his advantage in this instance, as evidenced by the fact he had not mentioned what he had done to Mr. O'Connor's inquiry earlier in the evening. Oh yes, he was well known among the upper tiers of the vampire hierarchy as a warrior and Consort, but his standings among humanity had not been relevant before tonight. There was not a single human who had known who or what he was going in to the party short of perhaps Damien Wayan. And while gossip and slander were the bread and butter of the social atmosphere in high society, Valen had never made himself prominently known before in attendance with parties such as this one. No one ever paid any attention to him or his actions, most often assuming he was merely a servant as evidence by the simplicity of his tailored suit compared to the rest of the Immortui. Mr. Johnson's actions towards him, as well as how none of the humans at the party had ever met him before, was easily enough to dispel the illusion of him having a pre-standing social reputation to be tarnished. Already people were asking for his name in confusion to his identity, as even that small bit of information had not featured prominently in spite of Nicholas passing it onto said Lord Justice (a name that caused a mental snort at the poorly apt moniker).

Back to the matter at hand of course, the Consort still found himself blinded and unable to do much more than retain his solitary place next to Sharpe's ever aggravating presence. At the accusation of an attack, for once, he was relatively innocent; he had not done more than merely kiss Jackie twice, and the compromising situation had only arisen as her form of retribution for the act. Her social manners were well known to her parents as well as to anyone else who had ever spoken with the girl before, which did include some few numbers of the crowd having been subjected to her venomous attack. The logical assumption was to point out this fact to the girl's detriment, but doing that so utterly repelled the Immortui that he opted for the far more difficult route of Total Absolution. But before he could go on damage control he had a few sparing words for Sharpe. "Assaulting who now Cognitio? You know Ms. O'Connor's personality as much as mine. Did you believe she would not use, what I assume to be your little gift to me, in vengeance for all that I have put her through this night? More importantly than that, while I am overly flirtatious I did not do anything wrong. I can't even see at the moment, again thanks mostly in part to you, and the idea of a blind attacker in somewhere on the edge of preposterous." The genuine sentiment resting beneath his words hung softly in the air between the two, for he had spoken his words so softly as only Nicholas could hear them.

Now with the soft scuffle of this 'Lord Justice' off to fetch the O'Connors time was of the essence and he had precious little of it to work with. Playing the scenario off as a joke would be impossible to achieve, and so his mind reeled with a steadily forming plan in place. If he could control the people through the wonder of mob mentality, it would be no trouble at all to deflect the situation back towards a more favorite light for himself.

Speaking of the O'Connors Lord Justice found them still talking with Margaret and Evelynn, the old crones from before, in reporting an incident unfolding on the far side of the dance floor. "Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor come with me swiftly to see your daughter and the rakish cur that is with her!" Both humans let their eyes widen before they crossed over through the crowd, standing towards the middle of the gathered people at a loss for words to explain the situation. "Valen Paendragon! You will submit for judgment to your attempted and most improper behavior towards young Miss O'Connor!" The public as one wheeled to face the Immortui while he swung around in place keeping the girl physically barred from view, knowing that he would be the focus in place of her. While there did need to be a complaining victim the crowd were much more interested in the thought of scandal to be enjoyed, so much so that they did not pay special mind to Miss O'Connor but instead her 'attacker'. Mr. O'Connor stared on with eyes wide open, seeming to reserve judgment on the matter or perhaps unsure yet what would be the proper discourse to be done.

Seizing his chance Paendragon was forced to give his hand away. It was the only option he had left to him. "Are you accusing me of something improper Lord Justice? Dare you besmirch my honor when you nearly struck at me in your haste for justice? Very well! If that is to be your offense I am left with little recourse. Let us prove ourselves by our mettle! I challenge you to a dual for your villainous slander!" The loud tone of his voice echoed among the throng of people, the public outcry forcing eyes to focus on Valen and the Judge leaving Jackie out of the public sphere. "Nicholas get the girl out of here. I have to fix your mess now, but there's no reason to make her suffer for your stupidity," he hissed again to his fellow vampire alone. High society was rarely a place of comfort and understanding, and leaving Jackie alone in the public sphere with accusation of assault would only bring negative question to her. This would hold especially true once more her less than sociable traits came to the front for anyone unfamiliar to her who dared to engage her in conversation. Once more to the crowd he dictated the terms of the dual quickly to keep things apace towards a better (for him) resolution of these events. "Come Lord Justice! Let you and I settle this man to man outside on the front lawn. Mr. O'Connor and Mr. Sharpe shall accompany us as the witnesses to the fight as is proper. Someone, quickly, fetch us a set of rapiers! For another, a glove for myself." At his last statement a dark-tuxedo gently came and offered his ashen grey gloves, taking the time to help the blinded vampire to walk directly before Justice. Raising his left hand to feel his would-be opponent's face he struck his right cheek with the stranger's glove, prompting a universal gasp to arise from most to the humans assembled. The fight was now all but set, and there would be no one who could prevent it taking place. At best the details of the conflict would be to be rearranged for the convenience of all the affected parties, and even for that Valen's statements would serve to put some distance between the matter and the rest of his Clan. It was his fight after all. No one else should suffer for it.

As for her parents Maria stood as if rooted in place, her eyes darting over to her daughter in question. She had only taken a glimpse at Valen's nullified gaze to see he had been struck by something, and she caught the glint of light reflecting from the small glass bottle fallen away from Jackie's hand after the vampire had stepped forward to bring focus onto him and Justice's imminent conflict. She quickly ran over to see to her child, all eyes thankfully locked onto the prospect of violence there in a party of all places, to immediately start questions. "Jackie! What is that thing in your hand? Did you use it on young Valen? Whatever could have provoked you into doing such a thing?" Of course, the obvious answer that he had kissed her would hardly be enough to warrant such an answer. True, he had antagonized her all name. True he had flirted with her. True he had been entirely too personal in his speech. But he had not laid a hand on her beyond her arm or cheek, and his sole account to the contrary, touching her chest in his blindness, could be explained from how it had only occurred precisely because of his temporary disability.

Lord Justice stood by shock before a server handed off a set of simply designed silver rapiers, his balding features bathed in scarlet for the public insult. The man's pride over his duty was now playing a role in his thought process, just as planned by Valen. "Very well upstart! I will have satisfaction and Mr. Sharpe, along with Mr. O'Connor, will be more than sufficient to witness you defeat! I care not if you are blind or otherwise, you will be taught respect!" With a flourish he slapped Valen with his bare right hand, prompting another wave of shock for the onlookers that soon turned into distaste at the realization that Paendragon was blind. How could it possible a fair fight under such standards? That alone brought a few of the undecided onto the vampire's side, some softly cheering at the sight of Justice being humbled. The Judge did not appear to be kindly received for his actions though his authority still remained strong enough to fuel the fever pitch of intrigue brought about by the Cognitio.

With that said all of the aforementioned participants and witnesses, led by Valen guided by the random man taking pity on his condition, were cleared a path to the outside and isolation. Walking along unsteadily, playing up on the supposed cripple state of his being, the Consort paused by Sharpe on his way out to whisper again for his hearing alone. "I'll admit you have done well Sharpe. But the way you have twisted this game around has left an utter bad taste in my mouth equal to your detestable presence. For that, niceties between us would appear to have come at an end. You dared to strike at my family intentionally where as I have refrained from doing so." Speaking aloud he let a smile break onto his features, openly calling to the crowd as a whole. "Mr. Sharpe, I would be honored, that as my direct accuser, if you were to take my side of the field so as I may prove myself in your eyes." The effect was immediate for the soundness of Sharpe's reputation added more credit to his claim to Valen's detriment. Such a move would appear tactically unsound if not for the confidence portrayed in the vampire's tone; he truly did not fear the outcome of the events to come because he knew he was somewhat innocent. He had stolen a kiss, but most certainly he had not forced himself or intentionally touch the human maiden against her will. And so he walked over with his reluctant guide to the far side of the fresh green grass of the front of the Wayan Estate, turning to face the trio of men approaching him to officiate the fight. Waving the man away he heard the swish of the air as the rapier was tossed to his feet by Lord Justice, his human companion bringing to bear in his right hand. "Now then, Mr. O'Connor, shall you officiate this?"

Barry was watching Valen intently like a hawk, the sight of his daughter's tears working to keep his adrenaline pumping in his veins in paternal instinct to the fight commence. He had no idea if Valen was guilty or not, but the boy had demanded a duel and he was about to get one indeed in spite of his affliction. "On the count of ten you shall both advance to trade blows until first blood or disarming your opponent! It's the best two out of three matches! One...Two...Three..." With the countdown Justice glared across the field in waiting, his blade already in hand stepping forward to match the vampire's own strides just in front of Mr. O'Connor. "Four...Five...Six..." The balding man considered himself quite the fencer, unaware of how events were truly going to transpire at that moment. "Seven...Eight...." His blade struck out in a gesture of sportsmanship, waiting to loose his fury on the gentleman...."Nine...Ten!" And so the duel began.

((Just when I think I'm out (from typing long posts)... they pull me back in!
-Activates Cambio Forma Version X for Storm Gorilla- Ok. I've left room for others to come in somewhat. I'm just trying to make sure I get out everything I want to chip in. Poor Valen indeed. This is character assassination at its finest.))
