Kaori pitched forward as the blast hit her right in the back. She slammed face first into the floor of the arena, scraping her face on the concrete. Hajime, however, blocked the attack with a energy barrier. The blast almost overwhelmed him and it took almost every bit of power that he had remaining to keep his barrier up.
Recovering from the attacks noticeably slower than before, Kaori and Hajime attacked their enemy in unison, deciding belatedly that team work would be more effective than working against each other. They both struck at the same time, aiming for the creatures eyes.

Silvesstre reared back and howled in pain. He lumbered to roll to the side, and aimed a sweeping kick at both Shinigami and Togabito.

Hajime and Kaori tumbled across the arena. They pushed themselves back to their feet, cursing as they did so. Once again they attacked together, Hajime using his illusions to distract the creature as Kaori attack the neck and chest area.

The Hollow's giant head swung slowly in the direction of the Togabito's illusion, and felt the Shinigami's zanpakuto bite hard into his stony flesh. With a dull roar of rage, Silvesstre struck out with an overhead hammer strike.

Kaori flew across the arena and landed in a crumbled heap, while Hajime dodged under the giant hammer. Kaori's zanpakuto changed back into it's sealed form. She could barely push herself onto her hands and knees. Knowing she could no longer fight, she called out to Hajime. "Hey, you! Catch!" with a movement that sent her sprawling back onto the ground, she flung her sword across the arena. It clattered to a halt barely a yard away from Hajime.
With a dive and a roll, Hajime swiftly recovered the blade, using it with his own throwing knife to attack the creatures legs once again.

The big Hollow growled and rolled forward, his bulk threatening to crush both combatants.

Kaori channeled the last of her energy into a blast. She fired it straight into the creature, slowing his roll long enough to throw herself out of the way.
Hajime managed to avoid most of the damage, but the creatures limbs slammed into him.
Hajime rolled back into his feet, attacking once again with both of his weapons.

With one final growl, the gigantic skull-like mask cracked and broke, the pieces falling away slowly. The Hollow's body dissolved into reishi and reiryoku as its soul returned to the cyclical flow maintained by the five worlds. With the Shinigami incapacitated, the referee declared Watoire the winner.

Hajime left the arena quickly, a smirk across his face. It was so close he could feel it. His goal; his freedom.

Kaori, however, had to be carried from the arena on a stretcher. She was barely conscious and hardly registered what was happening around her. The nurses who carried her from the arena looked faceless due to her blurred vision.
She had one last thought before she passed out entirely: "Ugh, lost again."

The time had come for the final match. A week's reprieve allowed some time for broken bodies to heal, but this time was not enough for Hedy's nerves. She would have to fight at full strength from the word "fight," but she feared that her current limit was too low. With a nervous sigh, she wandered into the arena as her name was called.

Hajime entered the arena at a slow walk, fighting to stifle his anxiety. The end was so close. He shook his head to clear it. This last battle would be a difficult one. He had watched Hedy's previous matches and she was an amazing warrior. He would give it his all and hope for the best.

"Fight!" cried the ref, kicking off the finale of Year 2 of the Demon King's Contest.

Hajime charged toward his enemy, using his spirit energy to form many knives that floated about him. Once he was within 10 feet of his enemy, he leaped into the air and jabbed his fingers towards his enemy, directing his energy knives in that direction.

Hedy's version of flash step helped her to escape the first attack. With a growl she summoned Ludwig and fused with him once more, and belched a long tongue of flame in the direction of her enemy.

Hajime rolled to one side, trying desperately to avoid the flames. Unfortunately he didn't roll far enough, and the outer edge of the flames caught him. He gritted his teeth against the pain and ran at his enemy. Quick as lighting, he pulled out two knives and slashed at his opponent.
