The opponent was weakened, no way it wasn't after a hit like that. Directly on the hands... Bad grip. If they got into a melee now, Roast was confident of a victory. Unfortunately, that wasn't what would come next.

"Look out, get above that!" Robby called, and heard the next order. Another shell blade, the oshawatt was gonna hit Roast... What else did he have? "Slap it in the head!"

The ducklett complied, and was up in the air when the water gun came, but was otherwise left open for the next strike. When the Oshawatt came, she listened to Robby's second order, and swung a wing attack towards the opponent's skull. Regardless of whether or not the Oshawatt fainted, Roast would be unconscious at the end of it.

The door suddenly swung open, and a brown haired woman came to the door, tucking a thumb under the collar of her lab coat to straighten it. She looked a bit confused to see the young man at her doorstep, taking a moment before she realized who he was, or at least, why he was there.

"You must be..." she paused, raising her hand to her forehead and sighing. "I'm sorry, I'm a bit caught of guard. Winter...son, right?"

She smiled pleasantly through the weariness evident in her eyes.

"Come in, please, I'll just be a moment-" she said, gesturing for the young man towards a machine that appeared to hold a tray of Poké balls. She walked over to a computer with two monitors - one screen displayed an image of an unknown language taken from a large stone slab, the other had a window open displaying a stream of numbers that changed each time a small green box appeared on the image of the cryptic language.

Professor Juniper typed something in the computer, and the numbers stopped. She stood up straight and slipped her hands into her lab coat pockets.

"Sorry for the wait, I went to Desert Resort earlier this week, and just the amount of discoveries still to be made..." she paused, and chuckled to herself. "It's so interesting I forget to sleep. So you're here for your Trainer's license?

"Or was it," she stopped, and glanced down at her desk, sliding a paper away from one beneath it. "That you needed to update your license? I can't always keep track..."

The Wing Attack to the head made Dali reel backwards and stumble over his own tail. He dropped his shell immediately, gripping his injured forehead - or at least attempted to - with his small arms. And then he began to cry.

"Eh," Eunmi managed to say before she scurried to her Pokémon's side.

"Ooooo...oooshaaaaaa," Dali cried, tears streaming down his face.

"Dali, strong fighters don't cry-"

"Woooooott," he sobbed, clinging to her midsection when she was within range and kneeling at his side. She gingerly placed her hand on the back of his head, and glanced over to the Ducklett. She exhaled and then firmly placed her hands on the Oshawott's shoulders.

"You did a good job, but you have a lot to learn," she said as firmly as she could, but couldn't help but smile at the Pokémon.

"If you cry every time you get hit, you'll just leave yourself open more," she said and then held up her hand.

"Someone once told me that he injured his thumb while fixing his roof tiles. You know what he did?" she asked, holding up her own thumb. The Oshawott shook its head, still crying, but at least he'd stopped making noise.

"He gave it a good long stare, inhaled, and on the exhale," she paused, and then smiled. "He went back to work."

"Osha...?"

Eunmi wiped her hand gently on the Oshawott's cheek.

"There's no sense crying over what's done," she replied. "So we just have to pick ourselves back up and try again.

"And hey," she poked him in the stomach. "You're supposed to be all big and tough. Where'd that go?"

Dali looked insulted for a second and then jumped up, puffed out its chest, and smacked where it's shell should have been. It realized a second later it had misplaced it's shell and frantically looked left and right until it found it.

"Haha," she smiled and looked up at Robby. "Thanks for the match. We learned a lot."

Robby returned Roast when she hit the ground. The ducklett was out, but he wasn't too disappointed, since being a pokemon trainer wasn't on his 'wants' list. He nodded slowly at the pokeball and looked at the crying Oshawatt.

It was crying, which was weird for pokemon. Wild ones didn't cry, so he hadn't expected that. His own had just gotten a little peeved. A tap on his ankle reminded him of Bacon, and the obese lad proceeded to return that.

The first remembrance sparked another, which led him to realizing that the other girl was gone. And all that was left was this hyper one. Who was now saying something to him after consoling the pokemon that had been crying.

"Er, no problem. Roast needed to practice too anyway." The obese lad returned the smile awkwardly, and glanced around once more to look for the missing girl. Had she gone on ahead? Probably. "Won't get through all the wild ones if we don't practice, right?"

After the kick struck Spike in the air as he spun vertically, the ground type was flung straight up into the air with crumpling crack and landed with an even worse thud. Takamaru didn't need a judge to know the battle was over..

Takamaru Sprinted towards the knocked out Mole pokemon skidding to a stop and kneeling over him, "Spike, spike, are you ok?" he asked cradling the pokemon in his arms crib style. His left and right claws looked fine, but at every touch Spike winced, Takamaru was sure that there was some internal damage upper in the arm. "you were absolutely amazing Spike" he praised as he Laid the pokemon on the ground and retrieved an Oran Berry from his pack and handed it to his partner whom ate it quietly.

Spike Looked up at its trainer with sorrowful eyes then laid down upon the grassy plain and fell into a peaceful sleep. "Return, you deserve a long rest buddy" whispered Takamaru as his pokeball shot a beam of red light returning Spike to its ball.

standing, Takamaru strode over too Wyane and extended a hand, "Thank you for the battle, I appreciate it. If you would take a look at your Poke account you will notice a sumptuous sum has been added to it." after which he took a deep breath and continued a little less formally, "so where do you plan on going next?"

Kijin moves through the city stopping in front of the gym, or at least what he was told was a gym. He admitted to himself this gym wasn't like the others he had come across though not all gym leaders were just gym leaders. He smiles looking up at the building that seemed more like a place to eat and socialize then have battles in. "Hmm I might stop in for a bit later on I kind of want to see what this dream yard thing is."

He looks up at the building one last time seeing the Pokemon League emblem stamped on the building, he smiles softly then heads away from the gym and heads in the direction of the Dream yard which seemed to be past a treeline outside the city. Once he reached the treeline he would navigate his way through the brush by looking at the remains that seemed to peek through the underbrush.

After a few minutes he soon arrived at the remains of the building, pieces of the building falling apart still. The ruble seeming to settle into new places as the wind seemed to flow through the remains making a almost errie sound when blowing by, the shadow it seemed to cast from the sun seemed almost like it was going to cry or something. "This isn't exactly what I expected but there must be more here then just this old building." He says optimistically as as he looks around and spots something moving around inside the building as well as some rustling.

Winterson took a few steps back away from the thresh as the door to the laboratory swung open. He jumped, a bit shocked from the immediate bang. His eyes soon fell upon the hyped-up professor, Professor Juniper. Apparently, she already got word that he would be arriving. He knew his name already. Perhaps, it was his grandfather, perhaps not. After all, she IS the most renowned Pokemon Professor in the Region. Maybe she just had that many contacts all over.

"Yes," he responded. "And thank you. I was just about to ask if there was anybody home, but it's fine. Sorry," he told her. Apparently, he had gotten shy of the fact that he was actually slowing the professor's work down. However, it seemed as though she didn't mind. And with a shrug of his shoulders and a sigh to ease out the weight in his chest, he just went with it.

When invited to go inside, he took no time to hesitate, and immediately, he followed the woman towards a machine that held three Pokeballs on a tray. He watched the professor as she moved from there, to the front of another machine to work. Seems as though she was quite the busy person.

"It's not a problem at all," he said, noting that the professor had come a long way. Probably, same as him, since he had noticed that a wide desert area came after his current city of residence. "Sorry if I came at a bad time, but yes, sort of. I would like to have a Trainer's License for this Region please, since the one I have is only valid Sinnoh, I think," explained Winterson. Hailing from the Sinnoh region originally, having a Trainer ID only meant that he was registered as a trainer in that region, and perhaps, even with his ID, he wouldn't be classified as a trainer, legally, here in Unova. It was kind of like a passport; proof that he was a trainer here in Unova. Besides, he doubted that they would have to move back to that little northern city of snow, hence, all the more reason that he needed it.

For a while, he remained silent, with his eyes fixed on the machine which held a tray and three Pokeball. He wondered if those Pokeball had Pokemon in them. He assumed that they did. Pokemon that the professor was currently studying, most likely.

Wayne watched quietly as the fight came to a close. He watched Hitmonlee lower his guard when it became clear that the fighting was over. To anyone looking over, Wayne's face appeared bored but really he was just deep in thought. Hitmonlee had been attacking without needing to be ordered. That shouldn't happen.

When he looked up briefly, he saw Hitmonlee staring at him with a dark expression. Acting quickly, Wayne pointed his pokéball at Hitmonlee and withdrew the pokémon. He examined the ball; the miniaturised Hitmonlee was staring back at him intently through the lid. He jumped when Takamaru extended his hand.

"Oh. Thanks for the battle," he said back as he shook the other teenagers hand, shrinking the pokéball down with a tight squeeze and putting it back into his pocket. "I'm actually," he took his hand back and indicated further down the grassy Route 2, "On my way to Striaton. Gonna challenge the gym leader there; see if I can't win."

He grinned as he backed off, hand up and waving as he turned to hurry, "Gotta go now, dude. We should battle again some time." With that, Wayne vanished into the tall grass, a couple of startled wild pokémon scurrying out.

--

Orange tinted the edges of the sky as the temperature began to drop. Wayne hurried through the thicket, feeling somewhat breathless from running. He'd occasionally encounter a high ledge, but judging which rocks and sticky-out tree roots would support his weight came second nature to him. Wayne spent most of his life outdoors, playing with Pokémon. He'd climbed his share of ledges.

"'scuse me," he said, darting around a pair of Patrat who stood up, peering at him with their paws above their eyes, following the trainer with a gaze as he pushed further and further through the grass. Wayne didn't know why other people had such trouble with wild pokémon. He hadn't had any problems when dealing with them in the past. In fact, he couldn't remember ever having a problem dealing with pokémon...

Then what was that look? He frowned and grit his teeth, stomping through a mostly-dried puddle and leaping into a ledge-climb. Hitmonlee was fine before the match started. Wayne hadn't seen a look like that before.

"Whoa!" Wayne yelled, his hand shooting out, making the catch just in time. A girl who looked a little younger than him had just fallen from the top of the ledge; grabbing her arm had threatened to pull Wayne right away from his handholds but he'd just about managed to hang on. He blinked as she thanked him and hurried further down the path. He'd heard about this. He must nearly be at Striaton.

--

"Here we go again," he said with a sigh, catching his breath, "Alright!" Wayne beat his fists together and grinned, "Pokémon Center pit stop and gym battle!"

Breaking into a run once again, Wayne hurried to the pokémon center. Luckily, he'd already been to Striaton City and know more or less where things were. He'd spotted the Gym last time, but ended up deciding to hold off on challenging it until he'd gotten his Pokédex. Now that he'd seen Hitmonlee in a real battle and knew what he could do, he was confident in his ability to win.

Henrietta had called her Pokemon to her after some extended training. Darumi and Melty had definitely made progress. That is to say, they were leaps and bounds stronger than when she'd started and gotten beat by a single Lillipup. That was due to her incompetence more than anything. Now she was better, back in the game.

"Let me see what you've all learned," she said and the trio nodded.

Socant was first, just a screech attack which still managed to take Henrietta by surprise.

"O-okay, screech. Darumi."

And his chest puffed up before he stomped around, a brief fury overcoming him.

"Angry dance," she named the Rage attack.

"Melty, I know about the fire spin, anything else?"

Melty smirked mischievously and fired a Confuse Ray at Darumi, who proceeded to stumble around.

"Dizzy ray," Henrietta called it.

"Okay, I think we might be able to take on the gym like this. We'll give it a shot," she said with a confidence that had taken some time to slowly build up.

***

After entering the Pokemon center, Henrietta approached the counter and the nurse said, "Welcome to Striaton Pokemon Cen- Are you okay miss?"

It was a valid question, because Henrietta had turned pale. Striaton? No, this was Nuvema, right?

"Wh-where are w-we?"

"Striaton."

"A-a-a-a-are y-y-you s-sure?"

"Positive. Are you okay? Do you need to sit down?"

"N-no, j-just, h-here." She handed her Pokemon over and hastily took the closest seat.

"I-i.. H-how?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:46 pm

"Don't think I'm not onto you," Wayne said, aiming his finger at the nurse as she put his pokéballs in a tray. Wayne kept his sights trained on her while backing off towards the lobby. His pokémon weren't injured but he did want Hitmonlee to get checked out in case there was something wrong.

Wayne looked about the pokémon center. Trainers milled back and forth; the usual. He felt his stomach grumble, putting a hand to it sadly and sighing. A flash of inspiration suddenly struck and Wayne dug through his pockets to find his Trainer Card. He stared at it and recalled what he'd been told; something that had simply washed over him at the time. Just as Takamaru promised-

"M-mo. Mon," his lips trembled, "I have money!" Wayne cheered, punching the air so hard he flew up for a second. Landing down, he read, reread and double-checked his updated bank balance before hurriedly shoving his ID in his pocket. No more crappy free trainer meals for Wayne Lee! At least not for a while.

Before his glee could dissipate with some crushing realisation that came out of nowhere, Wayne spotted a familiar face near the Center's main desk. He grinned and ran over, coming to a stop with a friendly, "Hey! Henrietta!"

Where did I go wrong?

Think.

I left the Pokemon Center and...

Darumi. I saw Darumi.

And followed him...

Henrietta sighed, her head lowered. When Wayne arrived her head shot up quickly and her face turned red(although she still looked pale.)

"W-w-wayne!" she said as she hopped up from her seat, caught a dizzy spell and sat back down. Even as she recovered from the shock and horror of going the wrong way she remained pale, but this was for another reason.

"H-h-hi."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:59 pm

"You don't look too good," Wayne commented, folding his arms and tilting his head to the side, "something happen with your pokémon? Your eyes are sunk in and like, your skin is way paler than it was before."

"H-hum, I'm fine," she said and she tried to smile reassuringly. She stared passed his head and her hands rested in her lap, her shinai across it.

"A-are you here for the gym badge too?" she asked.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2011 5:09 pm

"Gym badge? Yeah, definitely! I didn't think you'd be challenging it so soon, you been training or something?" Wayne trailed off and noticed the dirt that Chili had kicked onto Henrietta's clothes when he thought she was on fire. Yeah, probably training. "So like, I beat this guy who must've been really rich, I'm starving and I know this cool restaurant. You wanna go get something to eat? You look like you could do with it.

He grinned as he flashed his trainer card. And its new bank balance, "My treat."

A boy asks a girl to go and eat, you don't think much of it. Or you try not to, right? Obviously he can't be into you.

And it was a cute boy, too.

It wasn't a date, but the thought of the word made Henrietta's cheeks burn. She timidly nodded as she stood up.

He's not interested, he's just hungry. Don't be stupid,

"I-i," breath in, breath out. "I'd love to."

-DON'T- be stupid, dammit.

"I-i-if y-you w-want t-to, I-i m-mean."
