That was a good haul, not as good as he was getting earlier, and two of the bigger pieces crumbled into smaller ones when he grabbed them, but it was still something. He glanced down when he heard Lumi call back up to him. The other woman with Red caught his attention for a moment. She transformed into a bird and flew away, he wondered who she was. Ah, but that wasn’t important right now.
He shook his head.

"Halfway through the second," he called back down to Lumi before reaching for more candy.

Candy: 9 - 3 - 3 + 1 = 4

Distraction, that was probably what happened. He wasn’t paying attention to his flying and managed to lose half of his basket again. It was getting frustrating, but there wasn’t anything Julian could do besides give up or keep going.
And he wasn’t giving up.

Seemed like every bit he lost Julian managed to replace it. Maybe this tree just wasn’t liking him. So with a tip of his wings, he flew over to a different one, hoping to have better luck at a new one.

Getting from point A to point B was a bit more hazardous than intended. His basket tipped and he lost half of it, again. But at least when he got to the new tree it seemed to be a bit more receptive to his harvesting.

Jackpot, this tree was definitely better than the last one he was at. Julian landed, taking a minute to rest his wings as he picked at a few more branches. Just a little bit more and he’d have a second basket. He probably wouldn’t have time to fill up a third, but filling up a second would be something.

There we go! Julian hopped off the branch and used his wings to slow his descent back to the chilled ground. He hated this weather, but at least the wraps around his feet helped keep the chill out a bit. Wings folding at his back, he readjusted the hat on his head before walking back over to Lumi, stopping to pick up his first filled basket on the way.
"There, two baskets," he said with a bit of a smile. Just a bit, though, his mind was sort of elsewhere.

"Did you see that swan woman? Red didn’t look happy to see her… Wonder what she was doing here." He was mostly just thinking out loud, but he did turn to Lumi to judge her opinion.

Julian shrugged a little bit.
"I didn’t really look, I just saw her talking with Red and flying off. I don’t think she’s from Christmas, she didn’t look like a Christmas-towner," he replied with a bit of a head-shake. Her appearance coupled with the fact that she turned into a black swan… Yeah, Julian really didn’t think she was from Christmas.

The owl-like demon watched Lumi for a minute as she tried to warm herself up, his eyes widening ever so slightly as she bounced up and down a few times. His cheeks were already red from the cold, he could take thanks in that good fortune, since they’d certainly be darkening otherwise. He quickly looked away, back towards their professor and cleared his throat.

"C-cold?" Oh, Jack damnit, the stutter was coming back.

Red spared a glance for those who were looking at her. That was another thing she had to get used to. Not even two moons back and she was already in the thick of them. Red couldn't help but to wonder sometimes if she was proceeding too quickly, burning herself as her thirst for company was quenched.

When Mort addressed her, Red shrugged. "She was a Black Swan. You could think of her as a reaper or monster, but neither is true." Red watched him carefully, trying to weigh the possibilities. "I do not know how much of Christmas or Halloween you know of. You can simply think of her like a Christmas version of the Boogeyman, yet that in and of itself would be inaccurate. She is a ballerina, a member of the Ballet. Her role is a dark one in comparison to... traditional Christmas, shall we say."

The werewolf paused, head tilted to one side. Those with canine-esque senses of hearing would be able to hear the faint jingling of bells first. "I won't bore you with the details as fascinating as they are," she added as the jingling bells grew louder for all to hear.

"Sleigh's here! If you warm-dwellers aren't too cold, please assist me in loading the sleigh." Red scooped up two baskets as a shiny red-and-green sleigh pulled by two non-flying reindeer the size of Horsemen mounts trotted into view. "And do NOT bother the reindeer," she added sharply as the pair drew to a halt near them. "Just put your baskets in and get ready to leave."

Needless to say Julian almost fell over when Lumi rushed to his side, snuggling close against the cold. His face seemed to heat up even more than it had been before, but then one really couldn’t tell by the look of him. He just stared down at Lumi’s head for a moment, his eyes wide in what one might call surprise, shock, horror, or some strange combination of all three, before he finally seemed to relax just a little bit. At least enough to juggle his own baskets a bit and unfold one wing so that he could wrap it around her shoulders. It wasn’t much warmth, but anything counted, right?

His head quirked in a bird-like fashion when he heard Red speak about the woman who had come before. As wide as his eyes were, his ears were the superior of the two sensory receptors and even more so when he was curious about something.
"Huh, so she was part of Christmas after all…" he mused aloud, not really talking to anyone, just thinking.

The approach of bells worried him at first. It reminded him of the only other time he’d been here and deep down he started preparing for the worst. His sense of unease lessened when Red made the announcement that they were to be putting the baskets into the sleigh that was coming. If the thing was expected… then there shouldn’t be too much to worry about.
Just as long as he stayed away from the reindeer.

"Well, we should probably get these on the sleigh?" he asked, giving Lumi another glance and shifting his baskets in his arms.

Roch headed for the sleigh, grabbing two baskets and putting them in. Then he looked at the reindeer, a strange expression on his face.

He sort of missed Thanksgiving, dammit. He'd found it interesting! But he shrugged, since reindeer weren't cows, and stepped to the side, offering a hand if anyone needed one.

Once Taima had collected all of the pieces of Joy candy, she discovered that had nearly enough to fill another basket. They weren't leaving just yet, and she didn't have anything to do in the meantime, so she decided she might as well fill it up. She flew back into the tree and perched on a different branch that was so overburdened with Joy candies that when she shook it, they rained into the basket so hard and fast that candies actually flew out of the basket until the entire thing tipped over. Taima hopped out of the tree to right the basket, frowning as she discovered that she actually had fewer candies now than she had started out with. Carefully harvesting what had fallen onto the snow helped replenish it a little bit, but she would have to be more careful next time.

This time, Taima actually stepped out onto the branch to gather the Joy candies. By using her wings for balance, she was able to collect more than enough to fill a second basket. She eyed the leftovers contemplatively before shaking her head and letting them fall into the snow; she'd already completed the assignment twice over, and she didn't have enough time to fill up a third basket anyway. Taima collected her two full baskets and put them in the sleigh as instructed, more than ready to leave the freezing cold of Christmas behind.
