Physical Description: Fahn is a little on the shorter side of average, with medium dark skin, long dark hair that is frequently braided, and bright eyes. She is littered with freckles. Next to her cousin, they look like sisters.
Personality: Those who work with Fahn may quickly come to the conclusion that the young woman doesn't sleep, made solely out of boundless energy and running off of an excitement for living. If there wasn't a curfew put in place, Fahn would probably only get about 3 hours of sleep because she had delved into some task or other. This is especially obvious when there is something Fahn wants - because she will move Between and High Waters for the things she desires. This means the attentions of a cute boy she likes, this means being the best at what she does. Fahn is not a wishy-washy girl!

However, those who have her social attention will find that Fahn's energy is exhausting if you don't put up boundaries with her. If not, she will just show up. You will be included in all of her plans. You will be dragged on adventures you didn't sign up for, and she will wear the social energy right out of you and it will not be a one time adventure. On top of that Fahn doesn't consider what her friends may want as she drags them on her adventures or even steps right over their wants to get what she wants, without pausing to make sure nobody is getting hurt before she does it. The other person always has to speak up before she'll realize she's...kind of a jerk.

Fahn keeps her best face forward despite any blowback she may receive, and keeps peddling on. Certainly, thread has come and pulled her family apart, but she doesn't use it as a crutch or an excuse to get down. If her cousin is going to be made out of tough stuff, so does she! Rather, she knows that she is an emotional support for Anandi and holds it to be one of her most important tasks to not let anything get her down for the both of them.

History: Fahn was born to a large family in a small hold, and with how quickly she was born after her older cousin, Anandi, the two were fairly close growing up. Several siblings came before and after both girls, and they both became quite familiar with being surrounded by people.

However, when Thread returned both the community - and their family - was torn apart. With Anandi as both a guide and somewhat of an anchor for the goodness that was in Fahn's heart, the two were inseparable as they made their moves forward and when Search came both girls were taken.

While her cousin has impressed, leaving Fahn on the sands alone, Fahn doesn't allow a dragon or lack of to dictate her life and does her best to enrich the Weyr to the best of her abilities with what she has - a good knack for cooking and a curiosity for flavors. If she can't fly with the dragons, she can at least feed the riders to keep them strong and going!

Origin of Name: The Valencia orange (typically available starting in March and continuing through September or so) is named for the city of Valencia in Spain, although its actual origins are unknown. Valued for their high juice content and availability outside of the typical citrus season, Valencia oranges are usually thin-skinned and have a few seeds. They are considered one of the best oranges for juicing.

Inspiration: Mimosa

A mimosa cocktail is composed of champagne (or other sparkling wine) and chilled citrus juice, usually orange juice unless otherwise specified. It is traditionally served in a tall champagne flute at brunch, at weddings, or as part of business or first class service on some passenger railways and airlines.

The cocktail is named after the yellow-flowered mimosa plant, Acacia dealbata. The combination of sparkling wine and orange juice has been consumed for centuries in Spain, especially where oranges and cava and other sparkling wines are plentiful, for example in Valencia, Castellón, Alicante and Catalonia. Sparkling wine was also consumed with the juice of apples, grapes, and other fruits. There are several mistaken theories of its origin. One such theory is that it was invented approximately in the year 1900 in a hotel in the Mediterranean.

Cocktail historians generally agree that the Mimosa is just a slightly lower-octane version of the Buck’s Fizz, created by 1921 at Buck’s Club in London by barman Pat McGarry. This drink is also made with champagne and orange juice, but with a larger quantity of the wine. The Mimosa gets its name from the Mimosa flower, aka Acacia dealbata, a yellow-orange species of Australian shrub popular with French gardeners. Like most classic cocktails and many popular American dishes, there are a lot of legends regarding the true origins of the mimosa.

The Mimosa may have come along four years later, when a bartender called Frank Meier created it in the Ritz Hotel in Paris. His drink was a slightly more diluted version of the Buck’s Fizz, with equal measures of both ingredients, however, he never actually took the credit for the cocktail, despite mentioning it in his book, Artistry of Mixing Drinks.

Some suggest that the drink was actually created in San Francisco by none other than Sir Alfred Hitchcock, who is thought to have made it in the 1940’s. While this is a less likely story, he certainly helped to popularise the drink in the US, making it the staple brunch drink that it is today.

There are so many versions of its origin that its authorship is also attributed to the famous creator of brunch cocktails. Diego Humberto Pereira. Given its ingredients (which we will discuss below), one could also think of a more Mediterranean origin. More specifically, the region of Valencia, Castellón, Alicante and Catalonia. There, orange crops and the strong tradition of producing cava (very similar to champagne) led to the combination of the two drinks centuries ago. Being able to assume this combination known as Valence water, ancestor of the mimosa cocktail.

Personality: Never has there quite been a dragon that walks on sunshine quite like Alenciath! Bright and happy, she walks with the utmost pep in her step no matter what may be happening around her. This green makes it her personal mission to bring cheer to all those around her -- her clutchmates, candidates, even her wingmates! -- everyone in her path is open to the cheer and bright words that Alenciath radiates. This dragon is a hard-worker, never shying away from a challenge. But she does so with a bright blue swirl to her eyes and a hop to her step. This little girl loves to rope others into her social group, radiating sunshine and kind words all over all those she can adore.

However, she tends to have a rather rosy-colored view about life. Even in the face of bad news or injury, Alenciath will find that shimmering silver lining to every problem, no matter how thin. This little sweetie refuses to see the bad in anyone, person or dragon. It makes her quite susceptible to those who might take Alenciath for a ride, when she refuses to see if someone may not have the best interests for her the first or ninth time. However, her positive sight has shifted, it’s very easy for Alenciath to fall into a bit of a despair.

Alenciath is always perpetually on the go, go, go. Her rider will certainly have quite a handful when she’s just a hatchling, and will have to focus that energy so she doesn’t find herself bored. When boredom strikes, Alenciath will do her best to busy herself -- going as far to invent games or find some curious corner of the Weyr to investigate -- and while she may not intend to cause mischief, sometimes her games can get a bit out of claw. Particularly when she’s bored, Alenciath will try to rope anyone she can into playing with her. It’s hard for her to refuse that someone wouldn’t want to play, and roping someone into her game until they finally play along isn’t out of her wheelhouse. Alenciath can be quite pushy to get her way, and it will take her rider to mettle down some of her attitude so her pushy attitude doesn’t get the better of her once she’s an adult.

This little green certainly lives for today, and each morning Alenciath lives each day to the fullest that she’s able to. The future is never a concern when she’d rather busy herself with thoughts of the present. In fact, Alenciath doubles down stubbornly when someone tries to get her to focus on the future. Why should she worry about flaming thread when she has a perfectly good wherry to eat?

Physical Attributes: Alenciath is a delicate creature, always touching on the small side all her life. Her tail is long and thin, almost whip-like, as her neck is thin and delicate. The shape of her head is pointed more at the muzzle tip, lending to a more arrow-like shape. Her eyes are wide, lending to the very innocent nature of this sweet green. Her headknobs are a touch too long and thicker, lending to a youthful look even after she’s reached adulthood. While her wings are delicate, there’s no doubt how large they are. Her wide sails will make her a great distance flier, and help to conserve energy once she’s up in the air. However, Alenciath will find that sharper turns mid-air will be a bit of a challenge at first.

Additional Notes: Flights are a wonderful thing to Alenciath’s mind. Whether it’s chasing or rising, she absolutely loves to have a grand time in the air. Even if she has a mate, Alenciath will enjoy being a frequent riser, waiting until she feels everything is right before joining the air -- or when another green rises, she can happily chase after. Having a reputation as a bit of a tail chaser never stops her, not when she can cheerfully adore in either direction.

Though Alenciath has a hard time looking ahead, once she’s in thread-fighting mode, she rises to fight eagerly with a joy to her eyes and hearts. Defending Pern is an honor, and what is searing thread from the sky but another game? The only downside is she lacks the stamina of browns and bronzes, and is only able to fight for half a fall -- had she her way, she’d happily stay in the air the whole time!

When it comes to love, it can be a surprisingly tricky thing for Alenciath. She tends to throw her whole self into a crush, but with her rather rosy view, she can crush on a dragon who may not have her best interests at heart. Yet she will be devoted to any that returns her feelings, though there may be some disconnection with Alenciath’s pure joy of flights.

Impression Effect: Fahn will gain a bit more consideration for others boundaries and needs. It might not be obvious right away--but caring for another living, breathing, being (and having them live in your head) will force her to think a little bit more than she might once have. This might also rub off on Alenciath in due time.... or not. More immediately, Fahn will be absolutely radiant. There's just something about her... and it's the clear glow of finding ones soulmate and beloved.

Fahn and Alenciath make a perfect pair. To start, Fahn has the drive to keep up with this energetic green--and that's something that drew Alencieth immediately. She doesn't want someone who will slow her down or struggle to keep up with her. Together, these too will certainly have the drive to keep pushing when the going gets tough, and will be able to pick up the slack when some of their fellows begin to wear down. On the flipside, both rider and dragon are known to be headstrong and pushy. When Fahn and Alenciath are on the same page, it very well can be a bit like fire and gasoline; these two can become almost insufferable, pushing others into things they might not want. But there might also be times where dragon or rider sees what the other is doing, or they might well disagree on a course of action. This can help temper that sort of forceful behavior...or put the two at odds until some sort of ground is given. Ultimately, Fahn and Alenciath will need to learn to compromise, or grow into some self-awareness. Where Fahn is resilient, Alenciath will buoy that outlook with her rose-colored regard. Everything will turn out all right in the end, and there is absolutely nothing these two can't do together. Alenciath loves Fahn with all her hearts, and will be her best friend, and closest companion. They are each others support, and can learn to become each others brake; but no matter what, they will always be perfect for one another.
