None disturb your hunt Joshua and the others hurried around the corner to find Mac and Tianara kneeling next to a man. He automatically assumed that this was the ocean child she'd been searching for. "Aria, go call for help." He snapped out the order, kneeling down beside Tianara. "We've got to stop the bleeding." He murmured, amber eyes worried. "And find out if anything is broken." Shrugging out of his jacket, Joshua folded it up and handed it to the girl beside him. "Hold that against that head wound." With his light touch, he began tracing over the man's frame, searching out any broken bones.
Aria had already been backing out of the alley when Joshua snapped at her. She hurried out and to the pay phone just down the block. As she ran, the girl took note of her surroundings. Reaching the phone, she quickly punched in 9-1-1. When the operator picked up, Aria explained that she and her friends had found a man lying hurt in an alley. When asked for the address, she gave it to them. The operator promised that an ambulance would be there soon and told her to stand in front of the alley so the driver's could find it. Aria hurried back to the alley, standing in the mouth. "Help will be here soon." She called in, watching the streets.  Beneath the Blood moon

Very gently, Tianara pressed it against the bleeding wound, although there seemed no point since it had slowed to a trickle. The man was in no danger of bleeding out, and despite his vague shudders as Joshua examined him for broken bones, didn't appear to be in too much pain otherwise.
"It's not very good," murmured the young brunette, carefully brushing away the man's heavy dark hair. "His head, he's got a bad...concussion? From when he hit the cement. And there's something wrong with his shoulder." Quietly, she continued narrating his injuries, simply telling Joshua what she felt - when she tracked him, she was practically a part of him, and the tracking had not yet worn off. She could feel the pain where his shoulder was dislocated, where what felt like a rib was cracked, and most of the injuries that came with what must have been a truly thorough beating.
Brushing her hand over his cheek, she murmured, "You'll be all right. We're going to help you." She seemed to be making several assurances of this kind. Maybe he needed it. No one could know except for the two of them, at the moment.

None disturb your hunt Joshua leaned back on his heels, sweeping his eyes over the prone form before him. "Whoever did this was certainly being thorough." He murmured to himself. He felt helpless, just sitting here waiting. His head snapped up at the sound of a siren. He watched as Aria flagged the ambulance down. It stopped with it's back to the mouth of the alley. He sighed in relief and backed up as the workers came out. "They'll be able to help." He told Tianara, tugging at her arm to pull her back. They should stay out of the worker's way. They knew what they were doing. Beneath the Blood moon

Mac watched as the scene unfolded. What caused that guy's condition? He stayed closed to Aria.

Tianara only sent Joshua a mildly pitying look, and stayed on her knees beside the man. When he tugged at her arm, she gently shook her head. "I can't leave my brother," she said softly. "He needs me here right now." Brother would have seemed an odd choice of words, since there was no resemblance between them at all, but since the ocean-children seemed to consider themselves kin, it was possible that was what she meant.
She turned her attention towards the ambulance workers. "Will you meet me at the hospital?" she asked Joshua and the others softly. "I have to go with him." She didn't appear to be worried about whether or not the medical technicians would let her go with him. "We can find more of them later. Right now he needs us."
As two of the workers loaded the unconscious man on a stretcher, she spoke quietly to the one in front. With a brief nod and what looked like a shrug, he gestured to the back with a tilt of his head. She smiled slightly and nodded. Glancing back at the group, she mouthed, Meet me there and climbed into the back of the ambulance alongside the stranger.

None disturb your hunt Joshua nodded in understanding. "You go ahead. We'll catch up." He'd already recognized that the ocean children had a kin bond, whether or not they'd met before. He watched as the ambulance drove off, sirens blaring. He sighed and ran on hand through his pale hair. "Alright then. I suppose we should get going." Aria and Allen nodded as well. The two had simply stood to the side, watching. There'd been nothing for them to do that wasn't already being done. Turning, Joshua lead the way out of the alley and into the town. He knew where the hospital was as he'd been there himself for stitches a couple times. Beneath the Blood moon

Tianara sat quietly next to the stretcher, moving around at the technicians' requests and generally making sure she was not in the way. At the moment, however, all she felt she needed to do was keep an eye on the man who lay white and still on the stretcher.
Brother, she thought, even though she knew it was absurd. They were both ocean children, but that did not make them siblings - it made them kin. She wouldn't have considered calling Rhiannon her sister. But the man felt...closer to her, somehow, than even Rhiannon had. It was a bond that made no sense to her, but that was there nonetheless.
As the ambulance arrived at the hospital, Tianara managed to slip in alongside the technicians so that she went unnoticed by everyone else. She knew that she wouldn't be let in if she let them see her, and she had to stay with him, at least for now. Until he'd gotten help, she needed to stay close.
Glancing back and hoping Joshua and the others would get there soon, she followed the technicians down the hall.

None disturb your hunt Aria glanced at Mac, worry shrouding her sea green eyes. "Now we go to the hospital. I hope he's alright." The last part was murmured to herself. She followed Joshua through the town.
Joshua lead the way to the hospital, biting his lip in worry. He'd seen the damage that had been done. 'I hope he gets better.' Arriving at the hospital, he realized they would have to wait until Tianara found them. They couldn't exactly ask to go see the man - They didn't even know his name. While Aria and Allen took seat in the uncomfortable chair, Joshua couldn't do that. He tried but was soon up and pacing with a nervous energy. Beneath the Blood moon

Mac found the seats to be rather uncomfortable in the hospital, so he decided to just sit on the floor. He sat hugging one leg and having the other stick out. His thoughts didn't stir much but he looked around the room and lazily observed his surroundings. A pile of magazines sat near an end table. Then, a little bird flew in from an open window, and flitted down to Mac's feet, in attempts to get food that he might have to offer. Mac looked down at this little bird and smiled, "I'm sorry, I don't have anything" he said. The little sparrow cocked its head a few times and fluttered on top of his head and peeped a bit. Mac finally remembered, "Hehe...hi Gale" he said. The little bird he raised and released awhile ago found him, and seemed delighted.

Tianara remained silently in the corner of the room as the doctors worked and nurses ran to get them what they'd asked for. Organized chaos, she thought. It all seemed so complicated, and yet so graceful. She felt the slow surge under her own heart as the man's fading energy was bolstered, strengthened. A small smile touched her lips. They'd been in time, she thought. He would live.
She waited a few minutes more, just to be sure, but she knew he didn't need her anymore. And if she stayed any longer than he needed her, there might be trouble. So, quietly, she slipped out while the nurses' backs were turned. Walking down the hall and following the mild sound of voices, she eventually found herself in what appeared to be a waiting room.
Seeing Joshua, Aria and the others, her smile widened. She went to them, unaware that she was moving so softly she was nearly floating. "He'll be alright," she said quietly. "He'll be all right."

None disturb your hunt Aria glanced down at the little bird sitting on Mac's head. A small smile stole across her face. "A friend of yours?" She asked teasingly. The girl brushed a strand of brown hair behind her ear. She turned at the sound of Tianara's quiet voice. "He will? Oh that's a relief to know." A small knot in her chest began to unwind. Aria didn't like to see others in pain.
Joshua paced back and forth, ignoring the others. He'd seen the extent of the injuries and was rather worried. Tianara's soft voice jerked him from his thoughts and he stopped pacing to turn and look at her. He stared at her for a second, then a slow smile appeared. "That's good. I'm glad we were in time." The man would be alright. The thought kept repeating itself over in Joshua's mind. They'd be able to help. He would be alright. Beneath the Blood moon

Tianara's smile flashed briefly in response to Joshua's. She looked over her shoulder again - even though he no longer needed her to support his fading strength while the doctors fixed him, she wanted to stay with the man. But she couldn't - they wouldn't allow her in. He would be all right, and she would see him again. Turning bright eyes to the rest of the group, she said softly, "There are only one or two more in town. The rest, we'll have to trust that Sorry and the others can find." With one last look over her shoulder, she asked reluctantly, "Shall we go, or should we wait?"
Even though he would survive, she knew it would be at least several weeks before the man was out of hospital. She could come back and see him once he was better, and after all, they couldn't wait here for weeks. So why did leaving feel so much like betrayal?
Before she could decide - or indeed, before anyone could tell her their thoughts on it - there was the sound of footsteps. Tianara tensed and turned to look. She seemed to expect that something was coming.

None disturb your hunt Joshua nodded, listening to her speak. Soon, they would be done all they could here and the rest would be up to the merfolk. He opened his mouth to voice his opinion, only to watch Tianara tense and look. He closed his mouth as a look of confusion settled over his face. The girl looked so tense. What was she expecting? Was she expecting bad news or something? Curious, Joshua looked past Tianara. Beneath the Blood moon

Mac smiled, "Yeah she is" he said to Aria. Mac listened to the group talk, and he stood up when Tianara looked tense. He didn't know what to expect, as everything was happening so fast. Gale fluttered to his shoulder, and seemed to rest there, watching the group with her constant alert eyes.
