14. I'm quite addicted to anime, and own several novels. This is... well, a most definite problem, as many series and books are crowding my shelves; and I am attempting to purge the ones I don't absolutely adore. Currently I'm reading... or, well, attempting to read, "A Bad Spell In Yurt", by C. Dale Brittain.

17. I hate Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don't mean to upset anybody who likes it, but in my opinion, it's a whole lot of wasted potential that seems to culminate in a blazing psychotic episode brought on by Hideaki Anno reading too much Sigmund Freud while overdosing on antidepressant medication. More coherent, and much more fun, examinations of these themes, are FLCL and Gurren Lagaan, two productions of Anno's which I would recommend. I'd still like to see the movie adaptations, though, and I do read some Eva fanfics.

18. I love Team Fortress 2, and I've never played the game. I'm no yaoi fangirl when it comes to that franchise, though. Too many fanfics I've seen feature the men attempting to find solace in each other arms, throwing up their hands in weak, sorrowful surrender at the tragedy of never-ending war... but I object far less to the slash in the fandom than the mischaracterization required to reach the slash. For the most part, the canon team loves their jobs with a capital L-- killing is their very lucrative business, and they find their business not just good, but excellent. The only thing that they seem to really hate is their bosses. In a very popular fancomic, the characters are presented as prisoners of the confict itself. Not paid, not allowed to go home, slaves to a conflict rendered meaningless by time. Like prisoners in maximum security, the majority of the fancomic's characters in relationships are "situationally gay" (a term that makes me cringe at it's implications), only in relationships for the physical pleasure of it. As also in prisons, the goal, and plot of the fancomic, is escape... but, whether you consider them gay or straight, these guys are hardened assassins. Whatever their orientation, these guys would rather fight than run... would rather go find their blackmailers and gleefully confront them, find a way to turn the tables, laughing in their blackmailer's faces as they did.
