"A week, a month, I don't know," Ludique pulled from him, she grabbed up her knees and pulled them to her chest. She put her head down, brunette hair curtaining her. She was crying, but she'd be damned if she let him see that.

Rin was beginning to understand the position he was putting her in. She was obviously crying, but she didn't want him to see that. He was insisting that they stay together for the rest of their lives, be it 75 years or 3 million. What if that wasn't what she wanted? It hurt him to think that she wouldn't want to spend the rest of her life with him, but he also didn't want to impose his presence if it wasn't wanted. He put his hand on her shoulder and said simply, "I'm sorry."

Ludique sniffled. She didn't move, or shrug him off, or try to hurt him. But she did talk, softly. "You're so stupid," It was a whisper. She was talking about how he wanted to be with her forever. How he wanted her to be with him forever. She wouldn't age.. not for a long time. She wasn't even a nice girlfriend to him.. if they were even dating. They had met less than a week ago, for crying out loud! How could he dare think he loved her enough to stay with her for so long?

Rin wasn't sure what she meant. Was she insinuating that he was stupid to want to spend the rest of his life with her? Did demons never learn of true love? Sure, it was a bit sudden, but he had never been more sure of anything. He loved this woman--er, demon. "That was established long before you said it. The fact is, you're stupid for not trusting me. I love you, but if you can't trust me when I say it, it makes me wonder if you really feel the same way back. "

"Things change, people change, feelings change," Ludique sniffled again, but wiped her eyes. She looked up. They were red, kinda puffy. "Just lay with me. Forget I said anything. Talk to me and smile and we'll go to school tomorrow together and we'll be okay," They were going to be okay.. right? She hoped so, in a way.

Rin wanted to give this demon a fabulously incredulous glare and say in a tone the bordered on yelling, "Exactly how am I supposed to forget this s**t? The love of my life is going to leave me in the foreseeable future, and I'm supposed to act like nothing is going on?" But he didn't. Instead he kept a deathly serious face, glared at Lundi, shook his head slowly, rephrased and voiced his thoughts in a very taut, wary tone, "How? After all of this?"

Ludique was very calm as she watched him. She knew what he wanted to do and had in fact prepared for it. The glare she received did nothing, just hurt her feelings a little bit. His words didn't even do that. But the demon girl watched him. "How can you be so sure that you will love me forever? That I will love you forever? That you will not regret leaving this world behind? I could make you forget me again, if you leave me no choice. I could take away your ability to remember me and how much you have cared for me. Would you like that? Do you want to forget me, now that I'm hurting you?" She just wanted to lay with him, to play and be happy for now. To love him for now. Ah.. but something said.. 'That I will love you forever?' She had said it only in French, so far. What a turn.

"You're only thinking of me. You aren't thinking of yourself. Would you like it if I couldn't ever think of you again? It seems you are trying to justify the one in a millionth possibility that I might want to come back. 'Oh, there's a chance he might not love me in a decade, I'd better not let him love me at all,'" Rin mocked, his voice high and grating.

"You shut up," He was mocking her. Her serious doubts and fears. He took them and mocked them as though they were.. as if they were foolish. Ludique plopped to the side, watching Rin for a moment before turning and facing away from him. "You're being mean. Don't talk to me," She was thinking about herself. Would she kill him once he stopped loving her? Would she hand him off to someone else? Drop him off in the human world with new memories? Who knew what the demon would do "in a decade" or not. How could they know anything about the future? The girl curled up slightly. This wasn't even her bed.

Rin didn't regret his outburst, but he saw how torn Lundi was. He sat softly next to her an placed a hand on her shoulder. He could tell how she was feeling, even without seeing her face. He said nothing, but rather hoped the silence would speak for itself. Maybe Lundi might understand that he understood what her doubts were, but he didn't agree with her that they would happen.

Ludique, too, remained silent. She knew he understood. She knew that he didn't think it was true. But he wasn't thinking clearly. He was human. "I forgive you," I forgive you for being an ignorant human. For not understanding how little love could last, for not knowing that it was impossible for her to really change him. What if he regretted becoming immortal? Whatever, she was done. He was being mean. He only felt bad because he was hurting her so badly. She didn't look at him or even turn towards him.

Rin really didn't know what to do now. This was usually the time in movies when he would break out in laughter to deal with the tension. Something told him that would not be a good idea here. So, he stood up and told Lundi very quietly, "I'm going to go sleep on the couch. You can stay here tonight, we'll talk in the morning, I guess."

"I have to go home anyway," They could talk at school. Ludique sat up, sighing. She balled her hands into fists and stared at the bed sheets. She crumpled them in her hands, watching every wrinkle as though they would give her answers. She did not speak after that, she did not look at him, she did not do much else aside from slump slightly. And then she was gone. Away. In her room with the humans. And alone, in her room, she curled up. She did not cry, though. No. No stupid mortal would make her cry again. She waited for the new day between fits of sleep.

Rin walked slowly away to the couch, half-wishing that Lundi would stop him. When she didn't, however, Rin curled up on the couch, unsure if the demon was even still here. She might have already teleported home like she said she would. He guessed he'd know in the morning. But morning didn't come quickly to Rin, his dreams were fraught with sadness... pain. By morning, the dreams themselves had faded from his mind, leaving only those emotions. He didn't realize he'd been crying in his sleep.
