My Purewalkers are only available for breeding with other Purewalkers, unless otherwise plotted. Feel free to ask about RP/Plots of course, but please be aware I play Purewalkers as evil, manipulative, and powerful.
Personality: Sharp, sly, and deceptive, Kumiho is a malevolent trickster. More cunning than many of the Western cognates of skinwalkers, Kumiho enjoys planning, plotting, and maximizing the misery that she causes in others through elaborate tricks and deceptions. She is equally comfortable in either her fox-form or soquili-form, she will use what has the greatest potential for the situation. She is not a cursed skinwalker - she was born as she is, and considers herself as much a Fox as a mare. She also cares more for her appearance than most skinwalkers, to the point of being downright vain. However, she is as bloodthirsty and cruel and callous as any skinwalker.
History: Along with a few others, Kumiho is a recent arrival to these shores from a land far to the East. Unlike Ryujin or Tanuki who came to explore, Kumiho came for her dark amusement - to find what sorts of foreign, barbaric soquili she could manipulate and trick who may not have been warned of kitsune. Kumiho was not exactly an... invited guest on the Journey to the West - but a small fox form has its uses...
Kumiho's greatest weakness is her size. Especially for a skinwalker, she's slight of frame and physically weaker than other skinwalkers of similar stature. She's still a deadly foe against most normal-sized Soquili, but she's not able to physically overcome especially large or violent foe; or large groups for that matter. Escape is usually her best option in these cases. For this reason, Kumiho generally prefers her fox-form for hunting: she's more quick and agile and can easily escape danger while still being lethal to deadly (albeit smaller) prey.
However, in her journeys across the Soquili lands, Kumiho came across the strange beast named Cerberus. He was a strange and special creature, and Kumiho honed in on him immediately. Despite his ferocious and intimidating demeanor, Cerberus was a simply a freed slave who was desperate for a master and direction in his life. Kumiho quickly used her wit and wiles to tame the beast, calling him her partner when in reality he was little more than an impressive and useful puppet and bodyguard. A loyal hound she kept at her side to protect her from any that would do her harm; and someone large and intimidating to fight her fights when it was time for a physical altercation.
Though the relationship between Kumiho and Cerberus was tenuous at best, and sometimes downright violent and cruel; eventually the partnership between the two monsters found Kumiho heavy with foals. A fleeting instinct deep within Kumiho's black soul glimmered; her own twisted and pride and superiority drove her to ensure her children would be just as strong and beautiful as she was; and she hatched a wicked plan to make it happen.
In a stoke of fate that intertwine the two for years to come, Kumiho came across Stormwild, a powerful Elder wind Soquili, who had left her herd (unknowing she was pregnant) on a quest to find her estranged stepson. She had just given birth to four baskets, alone, and was exhausted and weak. Kumiho saw her chance and took it - brutally. She sent Cerberus in the attack - ordering him to keep the new mother at bay while she slipped in to steal the baskets.
It was a success- mostly. Kumiho got away with three of the baskets in tact, while the fourth has been mangled in the battle. Three was all she needed for her purposes, however. When her own foals were born, she viciously murdered Stormwild's foals: ripping open the basket and placing her own newly born babies into the basket with the corpses. Kumiho believed these bodies would provide bloody nutrition for her own foals as they grew.
Of course, as is the case with all skinwalkers, the pride and narcissism never gave way to motherly affection, and by the time the babies actually emerged from their baskets, she wanted little to do with them. Cerberus tended to their care as best he could, but three children were chased out Kumiho's territory as soon as they were able to fend for themselves.
The years passed. Their fates still intermingled, Kumiho and Stormwild came to be pregnant again in the same span of time. Taking it as a grand omen, Kumiho decided she would take Stormwild's baskets again; nearly delirious in the prospect of forcing the mare to relive the same horror she had done in seasons past. However, this dizzying anticipation gave way to reckless pride; despite protests from Cerberus, Kumiho was determined to steal Stormwild's baskets even though that meant launching an attack on Stormwild's territory.
It was a miserable failure. Stormwild's herd is strong and well protected. Even a beast as grand as Cerberus could not hold off an entire herd of strong wind warriors willing to die for their Elder Alpha. Amoung the protectors of the herd was Thunderbird himself - an Angeni born from the soul of the murdered soul in the fourth mangled basket from Kumiho's first attack.
Enraged by her failure to obtain Stormwild's baskets (and barely escaping with her life), Kumiho vowed to get revenge. She immediately began to plot her next move; more determined than ever to destroy Stormwild and her family. Her own foals eventually were born during the emotional and mental fallout of her failed attack, and placed into regular Kawani grass baskets Cerberus stole from an offering post. Disgusted by her failure and determined these baskets would not be worthy of her bloodline without the blood and nourishment of a "used" basket, she attempted to cull her children, writing them off as failures and a bitter reminder of her defeat.
Despite some of the atrocities he had inflicted during his life, this act of cruelty was one Cerberus could not muster himself to do. Even through he was commanded to by the one he called Master, he could not bring himself to murder his own children, nor stand idly by as Kumiho did it for him. He put his paw down and refused. It was not easy for Cerberus to stand up to his Master. He was a slave to loyalty and he had not, in as long as he could remember, made such a bold decision by himself.
This act of defiance, however, did not fly in Kumiho's eyes. A fight broke out and quickly turned physical as Cerberus, for the first time in his known existence, broke his mental shackles and realized there was nothing truly holding him to Kumiho. Unable to overcome the massive monster in a physical battle, and weakened by childbirth, Kumiho ran away again, leaving Cerberus to raise the baskets on his own.
Kumiho has sworn she will one day, somehow, get revenge on Cerberus for his defiance. Stormwild, as well, and Kumiho has the patience to let her plots simmer for years until they ripe for fruition. In the meantime, Kumiho made a promise to herself to 'make up' her last batch of failures by creating true masterpieces of evil: purewalker children.
Since she lost her last territory in her scuffle with Cerberus, she set off into the Kawani lands and came across Dormarth in her travels. She has no lasting connection with the massive wolfwalker, other than she finds him suitable for her purposes. She let the union happen, and though Dormarth is none the wiser, Kumiho delivered three new horrors into the world.
((Just FYI - While Kumiho is co-owned between Sabin Duvert and myself, I am the sole RPer. I know Sabin is planning on entering with a Soquili of his own))
Do you remember when your Soquili first maxed out? She maxed out January 2014. While this was very recently, I have been RPing Kumiho for years, I just didn't have stats for her (I got her before having stats in order to be added to your teepee was mandatory)
Links to RP(s) that show how the Soquili has grown over time, proving his or her development into an Elder:
Alas, Poor Yorik - This isn't a formal RP, but a plotted background plot for Yorik. It tells the story of how Kumiho tricked a young lovesick Yorik into giving his lady a hairpin laced with corpse powder - turning her into a skinwalker.
The Fox and the Hound - Kumiho meets Cerberus, a great beast who nothing but a freed slave that is lost with no master - a role she's happy to step and up fulfill. ((This RP actually happened many years ago, the date is just more recently because Sabin reformatted his teepee))
A Coming Storm - Kumiho's first run-in with Stormwild, and the intertwining of their fates forever. Kumiho and her minion, Cerberus, attack Stormwild who has just given birth. Heavy with foals herself, Kumiho believes that by using baskets that already have "life" in them, it will make her own children stronger. While Cerberus holds off the weakened Elder Soquili, Kumiho steals three of the four baskets for her own foals, killing Stormwild's unborn children and using the bodies within as nourishment for her own foals.
So alike, yet so different - Seasons later, Kumiho comes across her now grown daughter. Sarvara is not a skinwalker, but still has to bear the emotional and physical scars of being 'raised' by one. Kumiho reacts violently to the unfamiliar and twisted emotions her daughter invokes.
Spring is Coming - Years after their first run-in, Kumiho keeps tabs on Stormwild and her herd, using her small and stealthy foxform to penetrate their protections. She learns that Stormwild is pregnant again and hatches a plan to get pregnant again herself - she will do exactly what she did the first time, and steal Stormwild's baskets for her own foals.
Set Into Motion - Kumiho tells Cerberus of her plans to use him to attack Stormwild and steal her baskets again, even if it involves an attack on Thunderbird lands. Cerberus tries to warn her of the dangers, but her pride gets in the way of her reason.
A Storm Breaks - Cerberus and Kumiho attack Stormwild and her herd after she gives birth; to devastating results. Balrog, the Thunderbird herd, and some visiting healers, are able to defeat the pregnant skinwalker and her minion; forcing them to retreat without getting what the came for.
Bitter Reminders of Defeat - Humiliated and enraged by her failure to obtain baskets for her foals, she soon gives birth. Cerberus provided 'regular' baby baskets for the foals, but this isn't good enough for Kumiho. Bitter and angry, she sees these foals of a waste and failures and demands Cerberus kills them. Cerberus, unable to bring himself to kill his own children, finally steps up and breaks free of Kumiho's mental servitude. He fights her off, and disfigures on of her tails in the process.
Whispers of War - Wounded and having to fend for herself for the first time in years, Kumiho stumbles across the Alicorn Firestorm, who she recognizes as Stormwild's estranged step-son. She plays the role of a poor injured helpful fox to gain his friendship, and plants the idea of a war against the Thunderbird in her head. She knows he has tried and failed to attack the herd before, but Kumiho knows of a dark, shadowy herd that may prove to be useful allies. ((This is the beginning of a long, overreaching plot that will involve Firestorm and Anju's Shadow herd going into full-fledged war with the Thunderbird Herd. Kumiho won't be directly involved, but will do her to puppet from behind, as she would love to see the Thunderbird herd fall)).
Back to her Roots - This wasn't RP'd officially for various reasons, but just for timeline's sake, since she lost her last territory in her scuffle with Cerberus, she set off into the Kawani lands and came across Dormarth in her travels. She has no lasting connection with the massive wolfwalker, other than she finds him suitable for her purposes. She let the union happen, and though Dormarth is none the wiser, Kumiho delivered three new horrors into the world.
Blinded by Beauty - Struggling to find herself in the world, Kumiho comes across a dumb and narcissistic stallion. She decides to spare his life, but takes his eyes instead.
Lean Winter - Facing a harsh winter, with no minion to bring down large game, Kumiho resorts to scavenging. However, during this time she starts to come out of her 'failure depression' and rededicates herself to making her mark on the world. She has a self-realization; remembering back to her first great 'trick' in these lands with Yorik - and her time with Stormwild and Gaston - that the most damaging, long-reaching, and pain she could inflict didn't (directly) involve death anyway. She didn't need brute strength, or a minion. Her sole drive in life now is make others suffer. Slowly. Emotionally. Scars fester and last longer than a swift death, anyway.
*** The following RPs are new or completed since the last Elder application ***
An Insidious Seed - Kumiho encounters Firestorm again, and fuels his hatred for his family by planting the idea in his head that Firestorm could sacrifice someone to transform himself into a Kalona
Of Deadly Desires (in progress) - Kumiho comes across an unstable stallion who desires to become a skinwalker. Though she has no intention of actually granting his wish, she decides to string him along; charging him with a fool's errand (to bring her the head of Balrog).
A War of Thunder, Shadow, and Fire - Kumiho's plans fall into place; Firestorm and his allies in the Shadow herd stage a full-on attack on Thunderbird Mountain. Kumiho stays in the shadows mostly to observe her grand scheme come to fruition.
The Sacrifice - Firestorm sacrifices Maelstrom; killing her and eating her heart thinking this will turn him into Kalona. Kumiho is happy to sit back and watch the murder happen, only to reveal herself later as the catalyst for the whole bloody charade.
Why would your Soquili (IC) choose the Elder path? Being a Purewalker, she wouldn't be actively pursuing to be a leader, at least consciously. But she would consider herself to be the ultimate Skinwalker. A perfect combination of cunning, patience, brutality, and beauty. She's an image of perfection that any skinwalker should strive (and will ultimatly fail) to achieve. She wants everyone to know her... to touch as many Soquili's lives as she can manage (just not in the good way). She's willing to lie, cheat, and manipulate if it will serve her - and she's good at it. She'll use her stunning good looks, or sharp wit, or fluffy "innocent" fox form to fool others into serving her own needs - which is essentially the closest to 'leadership' you'll get from her. Making others do her will, not by inspiring them, but by manipulating them.
She also feels like she has thoroughly earned some kind of a respect and recognition from her efforts. She was just an enterprising young trickster when she followed Ryujin to these lands so many years ago. She's matured and honed her skills. And indeed, learned some hard lessons. There's a very good reason skinwalkers cannot form bonds with others; and while her relationship with Cerberus was never one of affection, even her bonds to him eventually flayed. She's had to learn to live again not relying on anyone, not even minions.
Why have you chosen the Elder path for your Soquili OOC? Kumiho is precious to me. She's a delightful challenge; its not easy to play a skinwalker that's brutal and crazy (like all of their breed), but still has depth and development as a character. But I think that's why I love her so much. Even through she's deadly and insane, she is still complex and has the ability to grow as a character. She's gone from just a vain little trickster to learning that her pride can have devastating effects.
She's tasted victory and bitter defeat, and its driven her to be better (as a force of evil of course). She revels in the knowledge that she can profoundly change another's life. That every day, they will think of her and what she did to them. And this drives her forward.
Start of a New Era:
mindsends Prompt
It isn't hard for a skinwalker to find time to be alone, and when a feverish feeling washes over the Foxwalker that would draw even the boldest walker into hiding for a cool, private location without a struggle after her victory, driving a young alicorn into murdering his sibling and ruining his own wings under her command, Kumiho had never been as alone as she was right now since she had spent time coiled in her basket as a young kit.
Body aching, it was if she could hear whispers on the edge of her vision as she coiled tight onto herself, unable to stop her eyes from rolling up, eyelids drifting close as the shadows bled into her vision like reaching hands clawing their way through the light as all grew dark.
------------
Waking, accessories tight and constricting, the Skinwalkers body ached, but felt stronger, more powerful, hungry, practically rippling with energy.
While Skinwalkers do not worship the spirits or gods, sometimes they are crafted by spirits of death and chaos despite the lack of worship -- they don't always need the worship, as the suffering caused by the existence of an elder skinwalker of quality is enough...
Name:Dormarth Dormarth translates to "death's door". And in Welsh tradition, Gwyn ap Nudd, a god of the underworld, led the wild hunt through the sky accompanied by his dog, and Dormarth. Also, CAILLECH: (Ireland, Scotland):The Veiled One. Destroyer and crone. Goddess of disease and plague. Dogs guarded the gates of the Other-world where she received the dead. In myth her gatekeeper is a dog named Dormarth "Death's Door." Sex: male Parents: Siblings: Temper: Relentless Lifemate: n/a Breed: Purewalker - Wolf Familiar: none Herd: none
Colorist: Sabin Duvert Co-Owner:Sabin Duvert Obtained: Gift from Sabin! (staff credit) Sig Image:[x] Roleplay Color: #000033
Personality: Dormath lives for the hunt. Once he has his sights set on his prey, he will relentlessly pursue them until he has them in his jaws. He seems never-tiring, expertly following his victim by scent, trail, and intuition. His favorite time to hunt is at night, He is equally comfortable in either of his forms: soquili or immense blue-black wolf.
History: One of the pure skinwalkers, Dormarth hails from the underworld itself, and he carries with him an unsettling, otherworldly air. Unlike some skinwalkers, he occasionally returns to his homeplane, sometimes even dragging a living victim body and soul back through the tangled roots to the hellish underplane where he can present his quarry to the dark lords of the realm.
Name: キツネ狩り ("Kitsunegari") Sex: male Parents:Kumiho x Dormarth Siblings:Akuma, Malperdius Temper: Quicksilver Lifemate: Breed: Purewalker - Foxwalker (Kitsune) Familiar: Herd:
Colorist: mindsend Co-Owner: Obtained: Mindsend's May 2013 Bribes Sig Image: Roleplay Color: midnightblue
Personality: Kitsunegari follows in his mother's pawprints in the fact that he must rely on his speed and agility to bring down his prey as he's not especially strong or large. While lacking her vanity and extended patience for long, complex setups, he is small, quick, agile, and witty. Since his stature is slight, he has learned to delight in a very specific method of killing: Kitsunegari brings down his prey by quickly rushing in, clawing or biting with his razor-sharp teeth and claws, then dashing out of range before the victim can retaliate. While this sometimes can take hours, Kitsunegari will not relent (a trait inherited from his father) - taking off ears, gnawing at ankle tendons, nipping jugulars - following his prey until they eventually bleed out without receiving a merciful killing blow.
If cornered or frightened, Kitsunegari can choose to make the kill swifter by taking out the throat or soft underbelly/evisceration of the victim, but he prefers to drag it out. He enjoys watching the victim loose hope as their life-force leaks from the body and occasionally may indulge himself by eating pieces of a victim (such as a wing, tail, ear, tendon, etc) in front of them before they die, but too weak to run away.
History: Kitsunegari is the son of the evil purewalkers Kumiho and Dormarth. He was conceived after Kumiho had experienced a blow to her ego when she was unable to maintain her hold on Cerberus (or kill him when he left her with their foals). She used Dormarth as a way to reassert her feeling of control, savagry, power and dominance, mating with a large and worthy purewalker. She needs to assert her dominance over a "strong" foe (Dormarth) and produce children that are pure and physically strong. (Kumiho, while deadly and intelligent, is slight of build for a pure walker and a subconscious thorn of insecurity for her. Cerberus has hit a nerve - the only way he was able to escape her mental slavery was brute strength - so in a way Kumiho is hoping to make little copies of herself that are more physically apt than her. This is all subconscious, however, and she's unaware of her deeper motives. She just wants to produce pure offspring). Dormarth's - he's a pretty straightforward, but utterly callous hunter. He decimates his victims body and soul, his favorite thing to do being dragging their still-alive bodies back through the tree to the underworld (Through "Death's Door" - his namesake) before finishing them off. He has a hatred of the insipid life of most of the soquili of the kawani lands and seeks to visit the hardship of the underworld upon them. And one way to do that is to by increasing the numbers of the species. He would have zero paternal instincts, and would not stick have stuck even after the initial conception. He barely tolerates other skinwalkers for very long.
Personality: Shangukeidi, like the thunderbird she is, is lightning personified. She is hot-blooded, hot-wired, crazy, and prickly. She exalts in stirring things up. A tranquil, calm scene is an invitation to her tumultous temper. She is fast, vicious and utterly lacks empathy. She does not care for nor have the temper for intricate plots. Those are too organized, too structured. She lives in the moment, and for chaos.
History: Shangukeidí is the daughter of two powerful purewalkers, Dormarth and Stormcaller Totemwing. There was no love or affection from their union- just two of the hellspawn that recognized each other as a suitable, strong mate and saught to unleash more of their kind on the world.
