Physical Description: W’tarl doesn't particularly stand out as an impressive looking man. He's average-leaning-tall in height and only functionally muscular - not that one would tell from the small layer of fat that pads it all. His skin is a mix of overtanned and burnt at all times and he always is nursing some patchy sensitive end to his flesh. He has particularly large, calloused hands. Perhaps his most striking feature are pale eyes that stand out against dark skin and hair.
Personality: W’tarl wears responsibility like a dragon wears riding straps - he's simply suited to it. One can see that he goes through every motion flawlessly and nobody can say he isn't suited to it, yet there is a certain stiffness to it that is hard to put one's finger on. If questioned about his opinions on such tasks, he will always answer with 'It's not a problem', leaving his true feelings up to interpretation. One does't have to enjoy a task to be able to give it their all and get it done. A lot of this falls down to appearances - there are some very important (Candidate) eyes on him, and he’s determined to keep up appearances.

This responsible drive keeps him from freezing or stressing when things get bad. W’tar’ doesn’t particularly shine in bad situations, but rather becomes a force for those with calmer and more logical minds to put to use to do damage control or to keep things from getting worse. If there isn’t a higher power to defer to, W’tarl will fall back on things that have worked previously as handed to him. However, not all things work in all situations and this has a way of backfiring in some situations.

Despite this, W’tarl has a nice and relaxing aura to him that keeps him from being stressful to be around and is generally approachable. He is good at deescalating situations that have gotten beyond where they’re supposed to be, even if just until someone better trained on exactly what has happened - whether it is a fight or a follow up to a bad touching - has gotten on scene.

History: Watarl was born the second youngest child of 5 on a small, but functional farm. With 3 older brothers, Watarl fell easily into line - his closest in age brother being still 4 years older than him. 2 years later, a sister would finally be born to his parents. Named Liarl, she would be the light of his parent's lives and Watarl himself took a certain responsibility over her - especially as their elder brothers took on more responsibilities outside of the home. He would always make sure she was taken care of and generally, was happy.

As she grew older, she became more lackadaisical and more than that spoiled. This didn’t deter Watarl from making her the happiest little girl on Pern...until she was Searched at 18. While the only of the kids taken in that search, another search 2 turns later would bring Watarl to High Reaches as well, where he found Liarl had both made no friends - and had not impressed.

3 turns later, both siblings would find themselves finding their bonded in the same clutch: two a pair of greens. Things seemed well as training progressed - but Liarl would not make it to graduation. As with many clutches, Liarl and her green would be lost between when the young riders were learning their jumps. A loss that devastated W’tarl and would lay on his shoulders for turns to come - even after being assigned to a wing.

While his good behavior has been enough to gain some words of praise, the color of Altoth’s hide has limited his upward growth - though his assignment as Candidatemaster’s Assistance seems to have been just the right fit.

Now if they could stop causing trouble at the Touchings….

Color: Green

Physical Description: Lean and delicate, Altoth appears to be mostly wing at times.
Personality: When the going gets tough, Altoth gets going in the opposite direction! While at first glance it looks like Altoth is adverse to working hard, the truth of the matter is she is easily stressed. Not just mentally - though difficult or quick decisions are certainly a surefire way to get this little green worked up - but physically being torn in multiple directions or having to take on too much all at once is a surefire way to make her not want to do anything!

Good thing her dear W’tarl is good at making the hard decisions and keeping them both cool and calm when things get tough! Altoth is strongly reliant on her rider more than any other being in the world, but may also cling to any friends she makes, needing constant emotional support especially in stressful times - and oh, Thread is so stressful! But if W’tarl can keep his cool and keep them going - she can keep going!

However, when times are good Altoth is as light and lackadaisical as a firelizard - enjoying daydreams, idle chatter, and gossip. Without the stresses of the world upon her, she is open and outgoing - and yes, will even make light jabs at how poorly she handles the bad times! Can’t handle her at her worse? Well she’ll still indulge your company at her best! She is almost eager to make friends and absolutely loves being in the company of young ones. Though by her definition, ‘young ones’ are anybody younger than her and her W’tarl!

Altoth is a lover, rather than a fighter, and doesn’t have it in her to hold a grudge, but also may roll over when it comes to arguements, not having the fortitude to partake in one long enough to win - even if she’s right! She’s also the type to enjoy her company after flights - though she would just sigh all day for the right dragon to just be hers forever.
