“Oh what a happy day! I’m going to have the best scoop in the whole paper!”

The eager news reporter shuffled through her stack of photos in the busy office building. She had just arrived back at the Daily Traveler’s office building from Nacrene City, with candid photos of each of the contestants that had participated in the martial arts tournament. It was easily one of the biggest news stories of the day, and all of her photos captured a near perfect sense of each fighter.

She picked up a photo of Robby Tobb, his arms folded and an empty bag of chips floating in front of him in the arena. “Hey Jack, check these photos over, will ya?” she asked her coworker at the next desk over. A weary looking reporter took the stack of photos from her, looking closely at each one.

“…Diane, is this some kind of joke?”
“Hmm? What do you mean, those photos are gold!”

Jack sighed and held up the Robby pictures again, pointing to the corner. “Look closely.”

Diane leaned forward, peering at something in the background. A man with black spiky hair that almost looked like a sea urchin and a long ponytail was smiling at the camera, holding up four fingers with a goofy grin. “That’s just-“
“He’s in every single photo.”

“WHA!?”

Diane snatched the photos back, grabbing the one of Gorm before his battle. Sure enough, the spiky haired man was in the background, this time holding up two fingers. In the background of Zack’s photo, the mysterious man was sticking out his tongue, holding up seven fingers with both hands. This was the pattern for each of the pictures, with the man holding up a number of fingers each time.

“I-I-“
“I guess we can just crop him out, or something. But why is he holding up all of these numbers?” Jack asked, curiously.
Diane pinched the bridge of her nose. “I don’t know. Ugh, this is so embarrassing.” Jack shrugged and turned away, and Diane took a closer look at the man in the photos. "...he's kind of cute, though..."

In the traveling station connecting Castelia City and the Sky Arrow Bridge, a man with spiky black hair and a long ponytail walked cheerfully besides a grumpy looking Teddiursa.

“Ur-Sa.”
“Hmm? The pictures? I just wanted to make a cameo appearance, dude.”
“Ursa?”
“Well, a cameo is when somebody of importance shows up in a piece of work for a little bit. Long enough that someone looking at it is like ‘Oh hey, what’s that guy doing here?’, or 'Who's that guy, he seems familiar'. I figured I might as well throw myself out there a little bit instead of just sneaking around like a ninja.”

The Teddiursa rolled his eyes. “Di, Teddi-ur-sa.”
“Aw c’mon Kiedis, I didn’t blow my cover or anything, I was just messin’ around.” A sly grin came across his lips. “And if that lady puts all the pictures in the right order, she’ll get my phone number, hehe-“
“Teddi.”
“I am NOT a ladykiller! I’m a ladies man! There’s a difference- it’s a fundamental- you don’t know- grrrrr….” The young man had clearly had this frustrated conversation with the Teddiursa before, and the Teddiursa just grinned evily at making his trainer so flustered. He sighed, waving it off as he clamped his hands behind his head while they exited at the Sky Arrow Bridge.

“You’re such a b***h, Kiedis. Whatever, we’ve got a roadblock to set up. Let’s get this over with.”
"Sa sa Ursa?"
"We stay until we catch these guys red handed. I'm not going back to Interpol with nothing."

Training was tough and tiring, so they went back to town. Wayne stretched, staring at the sky and noting how far the sun had progressed. He stopped still and yawned, idly scratching his stomach as he took in his surroundings.

The train yard, empty and abandoned. It was once used to transport supplies to and from the warehouses before they became the town. Now it lay in disrepair with rusted metal skeletons of train cars derailed, some tipped onto their side and some maintaining a last ounce of dignity by remaining upright on the tracks.

"Wonder what they're keeping this place around for?" Wayne said to himself, patting a hand against a red train wreck, metal warm to touch. He kicked it and the sound was a great pang as the metal shook. "Guess it's nothing but a huge hunk of junk."

"The same thing could also be said about the Dreamyard."

Across from Wayne, N stepped out tentatively from behind the train, tracing the vehicle with his hand like Wayne had just done. The green haired trainer looked over to Wayne for a second before looking up at the train. "The more places I go, the more I see what sort of trash humans have left behind. They drive pokemon away from their homes to build things like this, only to abandon it without remorse later on. Such a fleeting life these structures have. An inevitable waste of space."

He continued looking up at the train, his eyes scanning the rusted metal and peeling paint job. "...do you believe in all of the things your father preached before?" he asked Wayne cautiously. There wasn't any bitterness in his voice. N truly wanted to know what Wayne thought of the situation.

Robby nodded at Sal, but before he could speak properly, Roast fired a water gun at her face. [Who said you could touch my wing! Wh-] "cklet, duck duck, lett!" The obese lad would turn his attention to Roast, frown at her in that "maybe I should eat this one" way, and cause her to silence immediately. "I got some stuff to pick up. Just tell me where it is, start without me. I'll meet ya there."

He keeps showing up.

"Norbert," Wayne trailed off a little warily then corrected himself, "N."

He looked to the side, frowning as he remembered Zack's outburst. "Sorry about that. He has his reasons," Wayne looked back, dead in the other man's eye, "And I guess you do too. What's your problem with people? You always complain, yet you never say a word against pokémon."

N was always the one with the questions. Wayne tightened his fist. Now it was time for some answers.

Following his mothers wishes the silver haired youth made his way to the bath room with the intent to clean himself from the days previous events. although one his way to the bathroom he noticed that the sun was still high in the sky 'being unconscious must have thrown my sense of time off...'

so now the boy was walking right back down the very same hallway he just made his way down. his new intentions where to take both Spike and Iron Hide out for some 'light training.' so after retrieving Spikes pokeball from the kitchen table, Spike whom was wide awake and checking out his new surrounding from the inside of his pokeball, the two exited through the hotel door, letting it lock with a click.

The now full of energy Tk waited impatiently for the elevator to arrive, 'god, it seems like everyone was moved to this side of the building after the accident' the youth thought as he watched the elevator stop at each and every floor as it made its way to him. and when it finally didn't it was so jammed packed with people that there was hardly enough room to fit an infant.

so instead Tk opted to use the stairs. Arriving at the lobby much quicker than he would have by waiting for the elevator.

then with a hop, skip and a jump the youth was greeted by the fine rays of sunlight that beamed down from the giant star in the sky called the sun.

"GHHAAA, now time to find Iron Hide, eh, Spike?" the youth started out with a stretch, letting an odd sound of contentment along with it, before letting spike from his pokeball. the two then began to search for there comrade, whom would most likely be with is mother and his little sister...

After that swig of his drink, Moze looked at the mug in his hand. Since when did he have two mugs? Or two hands? Come to think of it, everything was starting to become double.

"It's like Noah's Arc...or somethin'..." he muttered quietly to himself before leaning forward onto the counter. With the last of his energy, he turned his head to Henrietta and Eunmi.

"I'm feelin' a lil' bit tired, so I think I might take a nap right about now." Moze gave the two of them a wave. "See ya...later..."

And then he buried his head into his arms, his snores muffled by them entirely. The bartender rose an eyebrow at him, shrugged, and then took his mug away to clean. "Crazy sage person..." he grumbled. Boy was it weird to be a bartender sometimes.

~~~~
Salieri slowly rose her hands up to her face, and then wiped the water away. "Bleh," she grunted, looking down at Roast. Her expression transformed into something happily sinister. Unlike Robby's "I might eat you" face, this one was more of "I'm going to enjoy putting you through hell" face.
"There's a nice field near the Challenge Rock I saw before. I'll see you soon," she told Robby with a wave and a wink before walking out of the cafe.
~~~~

It seemed that Wayne did not agree on what his father had to say about pokemon. For that, N was relieved. He didn't want to see the corruption of a new generation. Although he didn't smile about it, he was also marginally happier with Wayne now that he was calling him N.

"Because all my life, I've seen pokemon suffer at the hands of humans. Never the other way around." He slid his fingers against the train, tracing over the history of the broken down machine. "For people to say that pokemon are their friends when they engage in such horrid hypocrisy is disgusting. Yet I've never seen a pokemon make a human suffer in the same way."

N turned to Wayne. "This is not the balance that the world needs, Wayne. To end our strife, we must have a balance. I intend to fix this equation." There was no hate in his eyes. Only a hint of sadness. "And to that, I must save my pokemon friends. I do not mean any offense to you, but it's people like your father that have shown me what I'm trying to do is right. It's not his fault."

The green haired trainer went back to looking at the train. He couldn't look in Wayne's eyes any longer. "He's only human."

((Damn it Jump, your jump-post made me get a song stuck in my head that I don't know the name of.))

"I uh..." Eunmi stared at Moze.

"And I though I was a lightweight...." she looked down at her drink and set it down on the counter. Despite not finishing it, she was tipsy enough to be happy, but aware enough not to ...pass out. She turned to Henrietta.

"He'll be alright, right?" she smiled, grabbing Henrietta's wrist after slapping a few bills on the counter.

"C'mon."

"O-okay," Henrietta said and she looked down at her wrist. Now, she had no idea where they were going but she removed herself from her stool and was ready for wherever.

Or so she told herself.
