Personality: Lady Skadi comes from a small herd of Kalona that's more sophisticated than the average - they pride themselves on bucking the stereotype of Kalona as bloodthirsty beasts ruled solely by their passions. Instead, her family cherishes physical agility, grace, and elegance of movement over brute force. They emphasize this in ceremonial dance, both as practice for themselves, a way to honor the virtues they prize, and as good PR.

Lady Skadi herself is cultured, a little stuck-up, a bit cold, but not unfriendly - she is polite and mannered unless the situation calls for her to be rude. She adores the dance and cherishes the values of her herd.

Personality: Kishijoten is a shy, exotic young empress who feels incapable of handling the rigors of court on her own, so she made a deal with a mysterious creature. She received a beautiful hannya mask that, when worn, shifts her personality from shy and uncertain to courageous, mercenary, and ruthlessly capable. However, she cannot remember anything that occurred while wearing the mask after she takes it off. She must rely on Baku, the crane familiar who joined her at the moment she received the mask, to relay and remember her actions for her...

Baku, in reality, is an extension of the being with whom she dealt to obtain the mask. While he reports to her, he also watches and relays what he sees and hears to other forces, and he may not be a trustworthy recounter of events when it comes down to it. Still, Kishijoten does not realize this and she - at the moment - trusts him completely. So far, things seem to be working out for her...

Personality: Azaes is best described as 'hulking'. He's quite a bit larger than either of his parents, and tends to keep to himself - to the extent that an unwise observer might well mark him as stupid. However, Azaes is quite clever and quite good at hiding that fact. Indeed, he prefers to use his naturally brutish facade to keep his true knowledge and ability hidden. It gives him an advantage.

Azaes is exceptionally good at creeping people out - seemingly unawares (though that's not the case, of course) - and while he's not very agile at all, he possesses quite a bit of brute strength. Despite his intelligence, he lacks ambition and is more suited to taking a follower role; he currently finds his elder brother Ampheres a suitable model and will take direction from him.
