I belevieve in God... yes... But I'm not exactly religious. I also believe just in an "upper power" and name it as you wish. My mom, who raised me under catolic religion is not very glad about me thinking this way. My sister have just passed throught a very difficult situation and my mom says I must be closer to God before something like that happens to me.

But I think it's not needed to be really religious and all to believe, remember and respect God.

Am I wrong?

I am Christian and believe in God but i would not consider myself a "strict" Christian.

i respect other peoples views and beliefs too. they may agree with me or not. we'll all find out who is right eventually!

Quite a dangerous topic, dear, but the Geezer Guild is the only place I think you can get away with posting it wink

I myself am agnostic--or a fence sitter if you will. I don't believe in one god--or multiple gods for that matter. But I do believe in something because life is far too mysterious to be explained away, what that is I'm not sure.

The best conversation I've ever had once was being mediator between a debate of a devout Christian and a strict atheist. They were both really angry at each other for pressing their views on the other and I simply threw their own views back in their faces.

It was also when I came up with a funny little piece that I know will probably send me to hell for: "Jesus is a zombie, God's a girl, and Mary only fostered Jesus."

Which is why I took some of the edge off by including "I know will probably send me to hell for."

And if there are still those who get angry with me about it, I'm fully prepared to defend myself on Zombie Jesus, Female God, and Foster Mom Mary.

I have to say.. I myself and Atheist.

And to those that think people need to believe in a higher power for comfort, I think that's matter of opinion, and everyone is different. I personally, have had a very difficult life, and I tend to find more comfort in the fact that I'm more a random generated number, rather than believe some higher power feels vindictive against me for no reason.

Maybe that's just me. Anyhow, I think everyone believes what gives them the most comfort in life, and I would never deny anyone of that belief.

All I ever ask is people not try to deny me of mine. And you know what I mean.. those hardcore bible thumpers who followed me to my car one day when I went to the mall by myself need to back off and let me live. Next time they try it, I'm not going to wait for them to get out of the way before I back out of the spot. scream

I beleive there's something else out there, a higher power, but of what kind I dont know. As far as religion, I may get stoned for saying this but I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. To me, it's jsut a matter of POV and since everyone's is diffrent there's someone to suit everyone. In the end, to me anyway it all adds up to the same thing so we should all do our best to get along because we're all going to see each other again.

I believe in Darwin so you can assume I'm not religious. I have nothing against people that do support a certain religion, though. Everyone needs something to hold on to, even me.
Vatican II acknowledges and verified Darwin, so that doesn't always mean someone is not religious. As a anthropologist, I gotta represent here! pirate

I believe very strongly, born and raised a Lutheran! dramallama

(Don't worry, I won't stone ya- I throw like a girl playing hooky during P.E. anyways)

Well technically she wasn't a foster. She's a surrogate mom, A "baby momma", or as I affectionaly called myself when I was pregnant "an egg warmer".

I am a Christian, I believe in God and the Bible. Of course, as a teen/twenty-something, I just had to learn all about every other religion, and spent many years considering whether or not the TRUTH could be found anywhere else. I have a real scientific point of view on most things, this included. I would suggest that anyone with a logical/scientific point of view in the search for truth read the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist." You will find it interesting.

I'm also pretty fed up with Christian bashing. Christians are Christians because they realize that they are not perfect and never will be---that's why we need a Savior! Consider that, just on the off-chance (not my point of view) that God is just exactly who he says he is in the Bible, and that there is a final judgement, heaven, and hell---who has lived a perfect life? Not me, or anyone I've ever met. Forever is a long time to live with making poor choices.

God has given all of us the opportunity to make our own choices. Choices have consequences. Although I have to live with the consequences of my actions in this life, I start the next life with a clean slate. Sounds great.

xd I'm so going to use that from now on since it fits with the funniness of Zombie Jesus.

I believe that there is a Higher Power, but I really have trouble understanding how a kind and loving Father could let his childern suffer so bad. I understand the whole free will thing, but... I love my children too much to let them go through the abuses I went through as a child. I just don't get it. confused

Well said.

I'm actually agnostic/Buddhist. While I don't believe that Christianity is for -me- I won't deny that it has been something extremely positive in other peoples' lives. I just try to keep my mind open to the fact that anything is possible and there are many things in this world that can't be explained.
