Mourn Knifen
Actually NOT created by me, but a retired D&D Character bequeathed to me by my friend, Eric Verfuerth, who passed away in 2003.
When we were still in college, I was talking about this story and said that I was having trouble coming up with characters. he said I could use his old Drow, and so I did, after he gave me all his stats and charactaristics.
Mourn is a bit of a jackass, but he's a generally decent guy. He is the Patron Saint of Secrets, which is a title that grants him the ability to declare anything he wants a secret to himself, so that it may only exist to him. Very useful for creating hiding places and secret lairs. He often gets trashed and sneaks into ale warehouses and declares kegs a secret. He's also adept at polymorphing magic, which in a typical sleezeball way, he uses on insects to turn them into beautiful women for sexy fun when he's too low on coin for a proper prostitute.
He and Desmonia are ex-lovers. He fell deeply in love with her and proposed marriage, but being who she is, she outright refused him because while he was a convinient lover, being married wasn't convinient for her. (Des is extremely independent and selfish to the point where she refuses to waste her time with love and marriage. Men other than her two brothers are varily useless to her except as occasional lovers and drinking companions. She knew Mourn was in love with her, but didn't honestly care.)
Des' brothers beat the s**t out of him when in a fit of anger and passion, he threatened to declare her a secret. She told her brothers and let them loose on him.
It's now 70 years later and when he meets Kira, he is very unsettled by his feelign s for her, being so similar to the ones he had for Des, but he goes ahead and takes the chance. Kira finds herself attracted to Mourn but being very young and a virgin, she tends to be flirty and flippant with him, then scurries off and hides behind Des when she realizes she is nowhere near expirienced enough to be that smart or that sassy with him.
They eventually fall in love and will be a couple, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I suppose including the love aspect is my way of living out what I never got to expirience with Eric, as I fiercely crushed (maybe it was love? I thought it was then, but now not so sure.) on him for several years before I met my a*****e ex.
