I suggest commissioning friends. That is what a lot of people I know do. They "make friends" with people who can sew and commission them to do a cosplay for them. Sometimes you'll have to pay them but you usually get the best long lasting quality from friends or family. That is how I got my Bleach soul reaper uniform. Except it was my mom that made it and it only took about $24 to get the cloth.
