Name: Clutch Found: 1/9/11 Temper: Hardcore Species: Cerynei-Wind-Uni Parents: N/A Siblings: N/A Mate: None Children: With Setareh: Elaheh and Rajen Familiar: None History: Clutch was found as a basket by a small herd of kalona. Though they were purists and often looked down on other breeds, the idea of leaving a foal to die was deplorable even to them. He was raised among them but he was never quite treated like one of them. It seemed as if everyone expected him to fail at any task given to him because of his weaker genes. So, Clutch pushed himself to do his absolute best at everything. Often times to the point of physically harming himself. He wanted to prove he could fit in with the herd, even if he wasn't a kalona.
And it worked. They were hesitant at first to teach him their ways- some thinking he would be too weak while others simply didn't want a lesser breed learning what it meant to them to be a kalona. But he was able to prove his worth. They taught him to hunt and fight, explained to him the nature of their powers. He always pushed himself to the brink, even after they had fully accepted him. He couldn't run the risk of letting anyone down-especially himself. Even if it meant nearly killing himself-which he did several times. But for all of his hard work in trying to be accepted by the kalona, Clutch knew nothing of his own lineage. A thought that grew heavier on his mind as the years went by. Eventually it pushed him to leave the herd in search of those who could tell him about his own heritage.
The first Soquili that really caught Clutch's attention was Setareh. She held no visible traits similar to his own, but he felt at ease around her. She was intelligent, calming, and just a breath of fresh air compared to life in the herd. And then she got pregnant. It was unexpected, but not entirely unwelcome. Setareh couldn't bare to be tied down by children, so Clutch agreed to care for the foals once they were old enough to manage without her. So, he settled down and raised a daughter, Elaheh, and a son, Rajen. It wasn't a cakewalk. Clutch knew nothing about how to care for foals. But he managed with only a few hiccups and Setareh checking in on them occasionally to help. Finally adults, Rajen set off on his own, freeing up Clutch to return to his search now accompanied by his daughter.

Name: Lage Found: 8/1/11 Temper: Docile Species: Seathi-Nixie Parents: N/A Siblings: N/A Mate: None Children: None Familiar: Kallan History: For most of his life Lage had spent his entire life in the same small kelp bed, content to cling to the aquatic plants and ride the tides. Unfortunately, there was a rather nasty storm that violently stirred the waters around his home and carried him away in the strong currents. Alone, scared and exhausted, Lage had no clue where he was and decided to take refuge in the nearest kelp bed. After a few days, he had recovered from the ordeal and decided it was time to try and get back home. Of course, he had no clue where home was but he was determined to get back to his family. Setting off in a direction he thought might be right, Lage hovered above the sea floor, keeping behind cover as best he could. It didn't take long for someone to notice him though, and it wasn't a someone interested in being friends. A large fish had caught sight of the movement and Lage barely had time to realize he was being stalked before the fish made its move. But luck was on his side and a seal came along just in time to chase off the fish.
Naturally, Lage was terrified and took to the nearest hiding spot he could find. But the seal, who coincidentally had very similar markings to the seathi, seemed quite intent on him and circled around his hiding spot incessantly. After a while, Lage realized that the seal's behavior was more like patrolling rather than stalking and he cautiously crept out of hiding. Eventually he came to understand that the seal was there to protect them and a very strong bond was formed between them. The seal, given the name Kallan, became Lage's guardian of sorts and helped him to find his home and family again. However, through the short adventure he had with Kallan, Lage became curious about what else was out there. And with a guardian to look after him the seathi decided to continue traveling. So, while the pair frequently return to the kelp bed Lage calls home, they're more often than not found wandering up a river or exploring a lake nowadays.

Name: Devasrigarbha Found: 7/4/11 Temper: Claryvoiant Species: Wind Parents: Padmasambhava and Ame Siblings: and Maitreya Grandparents: Scythe and Avalokiteshvara; Ciardha and Amerlei Great-Grandparents: Crousader and Amarinne Aunts: Sengdroma, Tuulikki Uncles: Melanthios, Karma, Hayagriva, Ardin, Aether Mate: None Children: With Serenity Heart: Nirmanakaya, Caihong, Manjusri Familiar: None Herd: Padmapani History: Growing up in the Padmapani herd, Deva's foalhood was rather quiet and peaceful. He played games and got himself into trouble like every foal does, but he was always surrounded by family to look after him. He could sense that the adults were always a bit on edge, nervous about the ever-present danger of Samsara, though he wasn't aware of this at the time. With this in mind, Deva decided to become an apprentice of Amitabha, the herd's spiritual adviser, to help ease the nerves of his family.
Shortly after becoming an adult he was told of Samsara and how dangerous she was. Knowing this, he realized his job was even more important than ever. With such a threat looming, some would no doubt find their strength wavering and he would be there to comfort them and renew their faith in themselves and the herd. He also discovered a perfectly round and rather flat piece of glass. Fascinated by it for an inexplicable reason, he had it turned into a necklace. It became a meditation focus for him and even seemed to help when he led the meditation sessions for the herd. While the object doesn't actually have any mystical powers, he sees it as a blessed item and keeps it with him always.
After Samsara's attack on the herd and the death of so many loved ones, Deva found his own faith shaken. He watched as his family mourned the loss and struggled with the fact that he couldn't ease their pain. Couldn't ease his own. Eventually, he decided the best course of action was to leave the herd and travel across the lands, seeking out others who strongly believed in their own spirituality to learn from them.
Meets Serenity. They have kids. He takes them back to the herd to be raised with his family. Still feels he has much to learn.

Name: Novella Found: 1/10/12 Temper: Elegant Species: Flutter Parents: N/A Siblings: N/A Mate: None Children: None Familiar: None History: Novella is from a herd that resides in the eastern forest and is compromised of mostly flutters and flutter crosses. They prize nothing more than knowledge and are in a constant search for more. All the knowledge they obtain is written and the records are guarded closely. The moment foals emerge from their baskets they learn as much as possible from their elders until they reach adulthood. Once they do become adults they are given a journal and sent on a pilgrimage for even more knowledge. Unfortunately, many find the constant bombardment of information overwhelming and over the years fewer and fewer of those on their pilgrimage actually return to the forest.
Though intimidated at first, Novella eventually came to love learning. She reveled in acquiring new knowledge and the endless possibilities of what she didn't know. She spent whatever time she could looking through the records but even that didn't satisfy her thirst for knowledge. She wanted to know things that not even the herd was aware of. So, eagerly, she awaited the day when she could start her own pilgrimage. When it finally came, she far too happily stepped out of her forest home and into a world that she thought she knew everything about...

Name: Mariam Requiem Found: 7/9/12 Temper: Persistent Species: Wind (with Kelpi blood) Parents: Celeste T.L. Requiem and Mar Siblings: Marion, Marlea, Sonata, Dire, Perish, Ozé, Encore, Maia, Ceres, Juno Mate: Hesperia Children: None Familiar: None History: Mariam's foalhood was rather typical. She lived happily with her family by the lake. She played with her siblings and occasionally squabbled with them too. She grew particularly close to her brother, Marion. They were two peas in a pod. Nearly inseparable. The only really notable thing about her young years was her desire to fly. Something that followed her into adulthood and inevitably became a source of conflict between her and her mother.
Her mother, being unable to fly, couldn't teach Mariam. And out of fear for her daughter's safety, Celeste sometimes went out of her way to keep Mariam from learning. She couldn't see why her daughter couldn't just swim like her brother and sister instead. But Mariam wanted to fly and nothing was going to stop her. And after a particularly intense fight with her mother, she left the lake and her family to find a teacher.
Learns to fly. Lives life carelessly and probably leaving a wake of minor chaos behind her. BECOMES A PIRATE OR SOMETHING I DO WHAT I WANT. Meets an enchanting mermaid and falls in love. Still an absolute terror.

Name: Freya Crescent Found: 7/17/12 Temper: Steadfast Species: Burmecian (Unicorn) Parents: N/A Siblings: N/A Mate: None Children: None Familiar: None History: Freya was once a member of the herd called Burmecia. She fought to protect the herd as a Dragon Knight and one of their greatest warriors. And along side her was the love of her life, Fratley. But one day he left to journey across the world, refusing to let Freya go with him. Years passed and so distraught without Fratley was she that she left the herd to search for him.
She met many other Soquili along the way, joining one particular group's quest as what started out as a favor to a friend. It quickly turned into much more than that as a demented herd leader sought power that would bring ruin to their lands. Freya witnessed the near-annihilation of several herds, including her own. And amidst all this chaos, her lost love finally returned to her. With no memory of Freya or their life together. With so much heartbreak, it wouldn't have been surprising for Freya to give up then. But she didn't. She stuck with her friends and took down the malevolent ruler.
And then discovered that she was merely a puppet for a greater evil. They struggled. It seemed like every time they thought they'd saved their lands from destruction another thing would rise up and threaten them. All of them had their own revelations that shook their faith and made them question themselves and each other. But in the end they kept each other strong and finally brought down the threat to their lands for good. And once that was done, Freya returned home to rebuild the herd, and her relationship with Fratley.
It wasn't meant to last though. Freya struggled with her memories of their life together, agonizing over the time lost. And Fratley simply wasn't the stallion she remembered. When the herd was finally restored, Freya decided it was her turn to travel the world and she left everything behind.
For the actual character's history read this.

Name: Cirein-cròin Found: 3/25/14 Temper: Chaotic Neutral Species: Viperfish Mer Parents: None Mate: None Children: None Familiar: None History: Amongst some human tribes there are stories of creatures dwelling in the dark parts of the sea. Monsters with rows and rows of sharp teeth and eyes lit up by a sinister light. Monsters who eat seven whales just for a single meal. Some of these stories are nothing more than things to be told around a campfire in the dead of night. Some of them are the reason strange offerings are sent adrift. Most people will tell you they're nothing more than stories, but there is some truth in them. That truth is Cirein-cròin.
The dark parts of the ocean floor is where she spent most of her time, only surfacing at night for a quick gasp of air before plunging back into the deep. But one night the passengers on a small fishing boat caught sight of her. The humans were terrified. They screamed and shouted strange words at her, quickly gathered up their nets, and took their boat back to shore. It was a strange event, but rather exciting. Every night from then on she searched eagerly for other humans, sometimes simply watching them and sometimes bumping against their boat to hear their frightened voices. Sometimes the humans would toss things into the water before casting their nets, usually food or odd little trinkets. On those nights, the mer decided to leave them be. Most of the time. Eventually, the people gave her a name of their own tongue, one they prayed to for safe journeys on the sea and plentiful fish in their nets. One she preferred over her own name and quickly adopted. The Cirein-cròin.
But so much of her life had been spent striking fear into the hearts of man that she had neglected her own kind. And she began to wonder if she could be as much of a legend amongst them as well. Unfortunately she wasn't going to get very far on her own. While the ocean was large, there were significantly more Soquili on land than water. As luck would have it, a young mare by the name of Delphina had been living around the humans while Cirein's name was being whispered. The mare decided to check out what all the fuss was about and that's when Cirein convinced her to help.
Delphina proved to be a valuable asset to Cirein's cause. It didn't take long for land-dwelling Soquili to start showing up, either just curious about the strange tale Delphina had told them or very desperate for a miracle. It was a little rocky at first, most Soquili asked for a lot more than just good fishing. But Delphina was more than willing to pull her weight in this scheme so long as she got her fair share of the offerings. Soon they had their routine down solid. Delphina worked some reconnaissance before sending a client to Cirein, and Cirein played the spooky witch role and did damage control when things didn't go as expected for their clients. Things fell into place quite nicely and when Delphina brought home a basket things started getting much more interesting for them.
