most of the books i read are simple and not really high level reading but i enjoy them anyway.

as a comic book referral, i like the fairy tale based fables series by bill willingham published by vertigo. usually has gorgeous art and a decent amount of text as far as comic books can go.

i love juliet marillier's wildwood dancing.
george orwell's 1984 (have read that one about 4 times now)
any of jane austen's books.
dracula by brahm stoker if you haven't gotten your hands on it yet.
my fiance recommends xanth by piers anthony ( haven't tried it myself yet), and dragon riders of pern by anne mccaffery.
one thats required reading in somes schools is do androids dream of electric sheep, philip k d**k, if you haven't gotten to that one yet.
a lot of required/recommended books for schools are actually great for reading, even stepping back to lower grade level stuff can be enlightening if you haven't read them yet.

Have you read any of the Forgotten Realms books? They are fantasy, and a collection that is written by several different authors. I am quite in love with RA Salvator's books, and highly suggest them to any lover of fantasy books.

Equus by Schaffer. Its a classic play and AP material... Thought it really isnt hard to comprehend or anything. It might be a little disturbing, but it is really quite interesting.

For something a little less disturbing, try Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I at least found it verrrry funny.

The Phoenix Exultant trilogy by John C Wright. Also his Mists of Everness is quite good.

My friends really like Jasper FFord's writing, though I haven't read any of it yet.

If you like magic, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher might be something you'd like. It's about a wizard in Chicago (modern day). I've read up to book 7 so far and really liked it.

Let's see..
Guardians Of Ga'Hoole Series- By Kathryn Lasky
Wolves Of The Beyond Series- Again By Kathryn Lasky
Artemis Fowl series- Eion Colfer (OMG I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!)
Draw One In The Dark- By Sarah A. Hoyt (I read this book. It has slight romance but it is an awesome adventure/fantasy about shape shifters.)

The Septums Heap series by Magie Sage - slightly juvenile, but at 19 I still love them. >.<

ANYTHING BY TAMORA PIERCE!
- particularly Her Circle Opens Quartet and the Circle of Magic Quartet.
- I really like the Trickster books by her too.
- Bekkah Cooper = Fantastic.

Rangers Apprentice - John Flanagan, more aimed at boys...but I love them. No magic...but still super epic.

Oh...and Fairy Tail - Hiro Mashima, it's a manga/anime I've recently gotten into. Its pretty good.
