[1v1] The Front Lines (Malodore & Jericho)

Jericho looked up for the moment to see how high the ceiling was. Deciding it was up high enough, he took the time to start flying. There, he hovered around, assessing the situation. He was trying to figure out what to throw at the plague doctor next. He could try throwing more fire.

"Ah, I am fairly sure Hunters cannot fly," Malodore said, apologetically, as if pointing out a serious flaw in Jericho's actions. Still, it wouldn't hurt to test its ability to hit a further away target, so it tugged another feather free and flung it at the dragon.

If it was going to fight like this, it was going to have to build up its arm strength!

"Yeah, probably not. But who knows, maybe when they grow stronger, they'll sprout wings or something," Jericho shrugged. In any case, it would be good to try Malodore's limits.

While in the air, he made a swoop towards Mal, looking to dive bomb the plague doctor.

"They'd better not-" As Jericho swooped towards it, Malodore flicked its tail back in front of it and grabbed the blade, falling back on that more familiar standby. The plague doctor crouched low, allowing the dragon to pass overhead and poking up the blade so that the bloodmetal nipped at Jericho's flesh.

Jericho let out a snarl as he felt the blades cut into him as he passed over. That could have gone better than it did. Baring his teeth a bit, he looked down at himself, noticing the drops of blood on his shirt now. The cut wasn't that deep, but it did make flying more annoying to do. For now, he went in for another dive bomb, though this time he unleashed some flames as he came down.

Malodore ducked away from the fire, but it felt the flames wash over its back. Thankfully, the bloodmetal didn't care about any flame milder than that of a forge, but the back of its long neck stung. It felt a bandage flap free, burned through.

Belatedly, it swatted at Jericho with one hand, but its claws only made a tiny dent in the dragon's defenses. "Your kind... is most clearly made for war," it said, trying to tuck the loose bandage back into place, acutely aware that some of its natural flesh was now exposed.

Jericho felt a small sting as he flew by. It was something he could easily shrug off.

"You could say that. My kind has been in at least one great war after all," he said with a weak grin. The dragon ascended for a moment before diving down at Malodore, in an attempt to basically tackle it from the sky. However, one way or another, he ended up only hitting the ground.

Malodore blinked as the dragon swooped neatly into... the ground. Had he intended to do that? Was it strategy? It had no idea, so it stepped back with its tailblade held in both claws, giving Jericho a wary look.

Shaking his head as he got back up to his feet, Jericho noticed that he was a little off his mark there. He stared at Malodore for the moment, before flapping his wings hard to see if he could try and knock the light doctor over with some strong gusts.

Malodore hunched against the sudden breeze, making itself small enough that the wind couldn't gain purchase to push it over. It appreciated the concept, though. "The array of strategies available to you are truly astonishing," it murmured, then released its tailblade and flung a scalpel-feather at Jericho's fragile wing fabric.

Jericho flinched as the blade cut into his membrane, immediately retracting his wings closer to his body. While not incredibly damaging, the membranes were fairly sensitive.

"Dragons aren't meant to be easy to fight," he grinned, "Though, with time I'm sure you could figure more things out. I bet those hooves of yours could do a bit of damage too."

That said, he rushed in, aiming to do a kick of his own.

Hooves? It had tried to weaponize basically everything else, short of pecking Jericho. And it wasn't going to do that... so it might as well try using its hooves.

Awkwardly, Malodore stuck out one leg at the charging dragon. Not kicking... tripping.

And the trip technique worked. Sort of. Jericho managed to not fall over, but it was enough to make him stumble a bit. As he regained his balance, he spun about to try and punch the Plague doctor once more.

"Use anything and everything you have at your disposal!"

Malodore ducked under the punch. Only the hat remained to greet Jericho's fist.

Poor, poor hat.

Ah. That was Mal's hat.

"Woops. Sorry," Jericho said. He wasn't done with his assault just yet as he stepped in and aimed to plant an uppercut to the underside of its beak.
