Mort was soaking up the compliments like a sponge, grinning as he saw the ends of her hair go up; oh how he knew that feel, bro. "Thanku!" he replied, shaking an arm and flexing the fingers to release any extra energy in it. "All is thanks to brain, b-but not know why has it. Good here, but makes talk'n hard."

He then brought his arms up to brace for the appearance of the spear (finally!), an almost straight line cutting through above his elbows; very little blood ran, as most of it was congealed. "A-Also cin do this!" Mort announced, pulling the top of his head up and breaking some stitches that held it in place. The brain in question was lighting up with electricity almost, several crackling sounds heard as the zomboil concentrated and fitted the energy into a bolt.

And then he fired said bolt. And the bolt went about a foot forward before arcing towards the ground and dissipating with a small rumble of thunder.

The sound of his cranial top closing back down again muffled Mort's groan. "N-Not work yet . . . Hard control. Graaaaaaaaaaah."

His brain could do that?

…Hel didn’t know what to say, other than that she was really impressed. “Heh…no point in questioning where it came from as long as you can use it to your advantage, right? I think you speak fine, as well!”

The ghoul looked a but stunned as Mort just outright blocked the blade of her spear as opposed to dodging it. Seeing it go into his arms but not making it bleed reminded her that he was indeed, undead. The ghoul smirked a bit as she drew her weapon back, getting into a defensive position once the boil announced he had something to show her. She watched with a careful eye as he pulled up his cranium lid, exposing his brain. Woah. With complete honestly, the reaper could say this was the first time she had ever seen another being do that before…and for a moment was jealous she’d never be able to see her brain like that.

It was an odd moment that quickly passed.

The spear was held out defensive as he tried to send the lightning bolt forth, and she watched as it fizzled into the ground. Oh. “…Well, all you have to do is keep on honing your skill, friend! Not much more you can do than that.” But that reminded her…she needed to hone her new FEAR attack as well…the last couple of times she’d been using it, she’d be missing. Unacceptable.

The ghoul suddenly started to sing a song about war and victory, and her spear started to pulse with a purple aura. Hel pulled her spear back once more and lashed out at the zomboil.

Looks of awe were acceptable, though looking disgusted might have earned a snicker or two in lulz. Probably a throwback to his attempts to disgust the Hunters by hacking his own limb off.

Speaking of violence, Hel belted out a strong song with words he could not identify, though it reminded him a little of the language Freya and Herryk sometimes used. Norse? Nordic? Norseish? While Mort didn't know specifically what the valkyrie was saying, one thing was for sure:

Purple pulses were not a good sign.

He attempted to back up and cover his bro with the very protective fleshiness of his arms, but for naught. The spear pierced right through them and just barely nicked his chest to boot. The force behind it made him stagger back, unable to retaliate between righting himself and viewing Hel through the new tatters in his lower arms.

owx; "G-G-Good shot."

If Mort thought Hel was done, well, he had another thing coming.

Right after that strike, the purple aura faded, but Hel quickly spun her spear around to lance him in the side with a follow up strike. Hel grinned, and then leapt away from the zomboil. “Heh! Why thank you, friend!” She had to admit though…it was very interesting fighting an undead opponent…they didn’t take hits like other students she had fought…it was very different.

Ow . . . Ow . . . Owwww. He couldn't even attempt another shocking treatment. In the other fights he had gotten into, Mort had either been in a severe disadvantage (such as with the blue fire bits) or only nicked (during Christmastival). Sure, as an undead he had endurance and pain tolerance that excelled, but that didn't mean he couldn't feel each cut.

"W-Wish had weapon sumtimes," the zomboil commented, a hand covering his new side wound. "Could hold charge, m-more options." He took the stance again, but it was hard to maintain now, what with only one hand free and his legs beginning to show signs of trembling.

Unfortunately for Mort, Hel seemed to be on a damage-dealing roll.

Not long after that strike to the side, her spear swung in to deliver a blow to the other, and once again, she shot back after coming so close to him. The reaper chuckled at his words, and seemed thoughtful. “Ah…as with everything, there are the ups and downs though, friend.” To prove her point, Hel suddenly chucked her spear far off into the stands, and rested a hand on her hip as she watched it sore through the air before embedding itself somewhere in the stands.

She then turned to Mort, and waved her hands at him. “I can not do any FEAR attacks now…but…” She held out one of her hands, dismissing her spear from where it was, and summoned it once more, relishing in the feel of it in her grasp once more. “As long as I can summon it…I am good.” She tilted her head at the zomboil, waiting for his next move.

Guuuuuh, he should probably call it quits. Probably. If Mort had an HP bar visible, he was sure it would be somewhere in the red zone by now, accompanied by frantic music, maybe a dimmed screen, muffled sounds. As it was, the scrapes he'd gotten thus far were very minor to what would happen if his FEAR shield went down anymore.

He watched Hel's spear soar far over the stands with awe, only then possibly considering that she could do the same to him (being that he was rather stick-like himself). Gulp. He riveted his stare back upon her once the spear was re-summoned, free hand mimicking the grip of an invisible weapon.

Mort was not one usually of prideful manner, especially in physical battles. But today, he didn't want to back down, he wanted to prove that even in the face of an obviously more skilled opponent he wouldn't fall back, stupid as it could be. And so once more he concentrated and built a little charge in his hand as Hel spoke, grinning once she finished.

"F-Funny 'bout spear: can be lightning rod." Several small bolts of electricity were aimed at the tip of her weapon, conducing the energy down her arm.

He was so dead. Probably.

Mort’s determination to not back down, despite his dire circumstances did not go unnoticed. Hel definitely approved, as that was a good warrior spirit. The zomboil’s grin had her wondering what was up his sleeve, though soon enough she found out, more because she felt it. The ghoul’s teeth chattered as electricity shot up her arm, causing the hairs on the back of her neck to stand up straight once more. The feel felt intensified…probably because she was still holding onto her spear…ah yes!

Determined to get rid the feeling, she needed to let go of her spear. Well, Merry Christmastival Mort. Hel took a bit of a running start, and then lunged forward as she chucked her spear at the zomboil now, relishing in the relief of not having that shock go up her arm anymore.

Oh FFFFFUUUUU-

SCHLURP!

The spear went right through him. Stuck in his torso about halfway, but right through him nonetheless.

"Oooowwww . . ."

If Hel hadn't shown him that she could resummon her weapon, Mort would have liked to pull it out and try the thing for himself. Problem was, he felt so shaky and, well, impaled upon, that he felt like he didn't have many options left. Hell, if he wasn't careful he might just trip and knock himself unconscious.

Weakly, he raised an arm in defense, wincing at what was probably to come. "Was . . . W-Was best shot?" the zomboil mumbled, once again proving that being hurt probably made him think less logically than normal. "C-C-Commmme . . . b-bro at me."

If Mort wasn’t undead, Hel may have felt a wee bit bad about impaling him.

The reaper cackled, as Mort was about to be cheeky all the way to the end apparently. Well, there was only one way to finish this, and Hel was a bit of a show off. The reaper took a running start at the zomboil again, and lunged at him with one of her feet outstretched. Her boot connected with the blunt end of her spear, and the weapon ended up being propelled, going all the way through the undead student and embedding itself into the ground.

With a gurgled moan, and perhaps a snap of bone, down went the zomboil, slumping to his knees before falling off to the side. His vision went darker and darker until his head went thump on the ground. No attempt at witty repartee this time, barely time to draw breath for it!

Mort was quite still and probably would be so until he got some patching up done. GG, Hel~

Hel dismissed her weapon as soon as the battle was over, and couldn’t help but look a bit sheepish at the fact she knocked Mort out.

Oops. That wasn’t exactly her intention but ah…it happened.

The valkyrie wasn’t about to leave him there though, whether he could patch himself up or not. Hel came over to Mort, and scooped the zomboil into her arms. Yup, he was rather stick-like, no problem at all to carry! Thus, with Mort in her arms, Hel made her way to the infirmary, and once there, gently deposited the boil on a bed. Heck, she even pulled up a chair and waited.

It wasn't very long before Mort was attended to, bandaged and perhaps given a small look of disapproval before the nurse left; this was one of the students who had come to her class and wasted resources on more than one occasion. Luckily, the zomboil didn't wake up until about five minutes or so after Cricket left, his awakening punctuated by a gurgling cough. "Gaah . . ." He swallowed down some blood and squinted against the light before noticing someone was beside him. "Mrrr . . . Oh. Ohai."

It took him maybe two seconds to recognize where he was. "That bad?" he asked, looking down to see his arms and side stitched. More interestingly, pulling the cot blanket up made him note that he had quite a hole in hist chest now covered in stitches upon stitches and Jack knew what else was now inside. He let the blanket fall back down with a sigh. Shirtless yes, but thankfully still in his pants. He didn't need to showcase how more decayed it was beneath the chest cavity.

"D-Didn't have to stay . . . But thanks. No more spear-rod jokes. Hurts a lot."

While Hel waited, she occupied herself by braiding some leather strips together to make a nice, intricate leather braid. As Mort started to come around, the valkyrie looked up from her little project and smiled. “Hello there!” She greeted, and her lips pulled into a small grin. “Heh…well, I was not about to just leave you on the gym floor unattended to until you came around.

The ghoul gave a chuckle, brushing her nose with her thumb. “I did not think it would be honorable to just leave you after that. Besides…I think you did pretty well today! You have certainly shown me some things I have never seen before…and the next time we meet…we can just spar and train, alright? I will show you more you can do to fight and defend yourself…without actually fighting again.” Lest this happen again.

Despite it hurting his chest to do so, Mort chuckled - and proceeded to cough a little. "Well i-is good know has honor . . . Will patch up, practice FEAR s'more, n'then m-more spar later, yes?" he asked. "Without, mrrr, so much p-pokey n' thru body?" 8D; The final attack had been pretty epic, but damn, Hel! He hoped the valkyrie didn't do this practice on both living and non-living students, or else the undead dorms were going to get preeeeetty crowded.
