He was starting to get used to the sword in his hands, swinging it oddly for a sword but using it more as an extension of his arm. Familiars, samiliars, these things were going down.

Wave 3: Pass

He could feel it. He was warmed up and he was getting in the zone. They were starting to thin out again, just one more after this and then he could rest up and tackle the boss.

Wave 4: Pass

He did not try too hard, not wanting to waste all of his energy on these blows. The familiars were cleared out now, and he could see the boss just ahead.

Wave 5: Pass!
HP: 15/30

He walked slowly toward the boss as she flickered, taking a chance to catch his breath. There was no time to worry about what he was about to do that shell that looked like her. It was not her, and he was going to defeat it.

Healing!
HP: 15 + 18 = 30/30

Charging her would not work this time as she was on her guard. He advanced cautiously, lashing out with his blade but it hit her with the flat edge of the blade as she got her own attack in.

It was like she was reading him. He attacked and she dodged, almost toying with his blade as she lashed out, tearing his skirt. As much as he hated the skirt...he rather preferred to have it on.

He managed to get a decent stab into her leg, jerking back and taking bits of shadowy flesh out, but he could tell it was not enough. He was losing health, fast, and she was barely slowing down.

He kept whacking at her, and she kept coming, picking it up with her hands, hands even larger than his own. And she smirked. She knew that she had him, he was simply a play thing in her eyes.

He faltered as she looked at him, squeezing his eyes shut as she leaned forward and...licked him. Oh Great Mantis she licked him. Her teeth scraped against his neck and he went limp.

He forced his arm up, stabbing her through the stomach, but then the teeth were on his neck and...

he woke up. Back at the beginning but still in the trial room. Shaken, stirred...he was everything. And the familiars were starting to come toward him.

He was afraid. He did not want to admit it but he was terrified of the idea of facing that boss again. Shakily holding the sword in front of him he approached the first wave of familiars, swinging as soon as they were within range.

Wave 1: Pass

He swept the blade again, barely hitting one of the targets, but at least one of them was taken out by the attack. Move forward. Keep going.

Wave 2: Pass
HP: 24  

[ramenli]

He was faltering. He did not want to go forward and it was all he could do to keep his Fear in the sword and to keep his grip on it. He did not wish to keep going.

Wave 3: Attempt failed

He forced his arm to move, to lash out. Keep walking forward. The boss is at the other end. Just get to her so she can kill you.

He was doing pretty good at this. Nothing major, just forcing himself to keep moving, to keep swinging his sword. Keep forcing himself closer to death.
