Shoukyaku allowed himself to be escorted along the road by the strange Spiderlings, although he could have stopped and attacked them. He played along until the sight of small, black demons entered his vision, and he theirs. How nice, a welcoming committee, he thought as he eyed the columns of smoke that had grown closer and darker as he approached the afflicted village.

While the Infernals rushed forward, the samurai drew his katana and turned on the Spiderlings following after him in one movement. This action caught the first of the demonic spiders, one that had been over eager and pulled ahead of the others, off-guard. The sharp blade sliced through it with little resistance. Shoukyaku bull rushed the group in an attempt to scatter them and emerge on the other side. If it succeeded, then he would be able to face both them and the Infernals from one direction rather than two.

Spiderlings, not demons known to risk their own lives, deviated from their pursuits of the warriors. The little red and black husks, the Infernals, took the Spiderlings' place following Shoukyaku, but both Rounin and Hotaru found themselves in an emptied forest.

It wasn't long then after that the Spiderlings reached the other side of the village. They carried in their midst an ugly little troll demon who, upon arriving at the general's tent stepped in. "My lord." It bowed as Kishu turned from his drink. "My lord, there seem to be intruders in the village. The Spiderlings have informed me that they carry a foul scent about them, nothing they've ever smelled before." The little demon's voice shook. "Should we end the current contingency and return to the protection of the brimstone?"

Kishu stood after the little troll had finish his quibbling. From his eyes came a fire, turning his sockets into pits of red embers which burned at his skin. The fire spread from his eyes to his cheeks, his hair, his jaw and on until his entire body save his armour was engulfed in the red flames. The tent began to burn as Kishu stepped out, Suberi already at the opening. He mounted his stead, drew his weapon and called to the troll. "Inform Kokutan that I'll have to engage." A fiery smile drew across his lips and he was in a mad dash to the village before long.

Raiko had been laying in a tree, the demons taking little heed to his presence. Not because he was invisible or anything, but because they were busy and he smelt like demon, so he simply blended in. The demon let out a yawn when some spiderlings accompanied by a single troll demon mnade their way into the head tent. Apparently the information had been quite intriguing as the fire face's head was aflame, which meant his stinking horse was all hot and bothered as well. Raiko's red eyes lit up as Kishu began to head off in the direction that the spiderlings had returned from. The demon, completely covered in black cloth from head to toe save for the openening for his completely red eyes, swung himself down to the ground, landing silently. When his feet it the ground it was a simple and light effortless motion to put him back in the trees, where he began in the same direction that Kishu had left.

One would think a horse, especially a demon one, would be too fast for a demon to catch, but they would be wrong. Raiko was lightning to the young lord's thunder, and he was fast. Most would even say incredibly so. It was a matter of moment before Raiko caught up with the galloping horse, and his silent jump from tree to tree may have gone unnoticed, but the next movement would not. Raiko gathered his will and upon the whisper of the word, the will would follow his goal. "Daburu." The word was near silent as it left his mouth, and in the next moment there was a second Raiko standing directly in the path of the horse and it's rider. "Hey hot sockets, where do you think you're going?" Riako didn't know if Kishu would stop or not, but should he decide to just plow through the doppelganger would disappear in a puff of smoke. Raiko smiled, and his teeth appeared seamlessly from the cloth that covered his body where his mouth would be, as though his clothing was his body.

Not only did his gamble seem to work, but it might have worked too well. Shoukyaku spun around as soon as he broke through crowd, full expecting the Spiderlings to already be upon him. Only the Infernals were there to advance; the shadowy demons had fled.

Just fewer demons to take care of, he reasoned, and he brought his katana to bear on the remaining threats. They were small, dark, and fiery, but there were only twelve of the things. No matter their nimbleness either, Shoukyaku cut down one Infernal on his first swing, and then two more on his backswing. They burst into smokey clouds dotted with bright but fast fading cinders. The nine left split into two groups, with five vying for his attention and throwing themselves at his legs, and the other four backing away. He kicked at the ones clutching onto him, sooty burn marks left on the armor from their hands. A downward stab killed two more, and the rest scrambled away from an intentionally poor aimed kick.

The pounding of Suberi's eight hooves stampeding down the dirt road into the centre of the village was supplemented by Kishu's flaming lance, Kenso, dragging through wooden building, setting them alight. He caught a glimpse of Raiko standing in the middle of the pathway, not moving even as he drew nearer and keeping the same pace. 'The boy knows too well not to get in my way at a time like his.' Kishu thought to himself knowing that Raiko wouldn't let any harm come to him on purpose and even if injury were to become him, there were healers back at the general's tent. Even then, Kishu bounded to his right, raising Kenso well about Raiko's head so as to not bash his skull in. While not ready to fight, Kishu might have noticed the odd smell coming from the dummy, but it was far from important now. "You don't know how to fight boy, get out of the battlefield." He yelled back at Raiko without turning as it was just a passing thought, and one he held to be very true.

In the mean while, the Infernals proved to be of little use in keeping the visitors company as all those which were inside began to flee to the forests behind the feral beasts unleashed into it. The cavalry was seconds behind the Infernals as they fled though. Larger demons with the appearance of pig men who rode large hairy boars. Hardly a pretty sight, but the Orcs knew just what to do: keep the warriors around until the general got there. A party surrounded Shoukyaku. A smaller party was able to find Rounin and Hotaru.

Hotaru's glowing eyes stared at Rounin as he landed in front of her and soon after the spiderlings followed with a crash. She did not return the man's smile nor any choice of words. She turned her head after him as he ran by before sheathing her sword and following. She noticed that the forest slowly emptied out but didn't slow down. It would be best to get to the village now that nothing was holding the two of them back. It didn't take much longer for the company of two to find their way into the infernos. Like a ghost town, nothing was around except for charred bodies and homes falling apart. There would have to be survivors, why else would the goddess call on them if there was no one to save by the time they arrived? "We should look for survivors, surely they are somewhere." Hotaru mumbled just loud enough for the stranger to hear above the wail of the flames.

Just then a spear rushed by Hotaru's head, just barely missing because of her head falling to the side. She turned to see the approaching group of orcs. She drew her sword and her body tensed before she sprinted to meet the enemies. She squatted and jumped high into the air as a pillar from a home threatened to land on her. It landed between the two warriors and the orcs, the flames licked at Hotaru as she disappeared into them. She came out on the other side, her feet landing on the leader orc's shoulders. His beady eyes bore into her as she raised her blade and brought it down into his skull. She stepped onto the boar's back as the orc fell off and it seemed as if the others were mesmerized at the demoness that was fighting against them, not with them.

Shoukyaku charged at the regrouping Infernals, taking out two more before their fellows hissed in anger and fell back again. That left five to take care of, the warrior knew. With any luck, they would fall just as quickly as the others and he'd be back on his way to the assaulted village. The smoke rising into the air had formed a haze that hovered menacingly, turning the air in that direction a gray blotch against the cloudy sky.

He prepared to go on the offensive again and eliminate the rest, but the growing cloud of dust just down the path stopped him. There was too much of it to be only survivors fleeing the ruins of their home. His suspicions were affirmed when the remaining Infernals glanced back and cheered. The sight of piggish men astride large boars, and charging towards the samurai, made him rethink his battle plan just a little. Shoukyaku struck at the distracted enemies, taking them out easily with a sword thrust to their backs, and settled back into a defensive stance as the Orcs approached formed a moving ring around him.

((Sorry I haven't posted in forever))
Karasu snuck into the village as the demons were distracted in a different part of the village, she walked as quietly as she could, as to avoid distraction. As Karasu walked she heard a soft whimper, she paused, hand on sword. Karasu looked around the corner of some rubble, there she saw a family. She calmly came around the rubble, one hand in the air. "I mean you no harm," She said softly, "Please, you must not be loud, I shall help you to safety, but I will only will be able to stay with you a short time, for I am also needed elsewhere." The family was scared, but they nodded, and softly whispered thank you. As the family began to follow her, a rather large demon stumbled across their path, without thinking, she drew her sword and charged it, catching it off guard. She jumped off of some rubble, to gain more leverage in her leap. The demon swung, but so did Karasu, she brought sword down upon the creatures's arm, slicing a gash in it. The demon roared, stumbling back, she chose that moment to jump and slice the monster's jugular open. She turned to the family. "Run!" She yelled as the demon collapsed, Karasu ran with the family as they fled, to insure they made it safely way from the village.

Rounin made it to the village first, the smell or burnt flesh and the heat of the flames ever present as he was soon engulfed by them. He did not need to look to know that his fellow warrior was following, he could feel her presence behind him. The town was empty, and the girl spoke her first words. She seemed to be very hopeful, but Rounin knew better. He himself had brought about death like this, and there were no survivors.

Then an unfamiliar whistle came from his side, and the spear sunk into the ground on the other. In a flash the female warrior was on the other side of the flames, one of her sword deep into the skull of an orc. The momentary surprise afford Rounin time to make his own move. An agile leap backward gave him the advantage of being out of the distracted vision of his enemies, and he quickly and quietly ran sot hat he was now behind the foes. Again the katana did not leave it's sheath, but he swung his blade as though he were quick drawing with all his might. A sickening crack follow by an inhuman grunt of pain brought the attention to him. He leaped back and took a defensive stance, giving his new ally time to strike as she wished.

Raiko frowned as the man avoided his dummy entirely. With all the effort he put in to making it, the least the man could do was disperse it. He sighed, and once again began his chase of the man who seemed to think very little of him. The old man had been out of the game too long, he didn't know who could do what, and that Raiko was perhaps the fastest killer in the demon world. A perfect compliment to the strong, but lazy son of the Demon King. It didn't take the demon who moved as quick as lightning to catch up to the fire head once more. "You know, just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it never happens. I don't carry this toothpick for no reason." Raiko grinned, his teeth showing, splitting what appeared to be a mouth cover to smirk at the fellow demon. "I know you heard my question, but I'll say it again. Where do you think you're going, hmm? You must have your suspicions about these foul smelling warriors, and you're not even going to wait for Kokutan to receive your message?" Raiko was attempting to appeal to the general's sense of duty. There was a time and a place for all things, and now was not the time to make these movements.

((As per arranged, I shall kidnap yew now.))

[NPC]
The stench of one of the Sun goddess's chosen was tougher than she that it would be to smell, thanks to all of the smoke. But the naga was able to sift through the smells with her flickering tongue and grinned to herself when she spotted the warrior standing all alone. She gestured with the tip of her tail to two of her accomplices and slithered up silently behind her.

Shoukyaku held his stance and turned around in place, watching the newest enemies warily. Apparently, someone really didn't want him to survive. Well, he'd just have to, then. He struck out at one Orc in particular, sweeping his blade at the legs of the running boar. His sudden movement was a surprise to the foe and the boar went down squealing. It was nearly trampled by its fellows and by the time the Orcs veered around it and its rider, Shoukyaku had already taken care of the fallen Orc.

(yay! How'd I do on NPC?)
Karasu watched the family run off, glad they were safe. She turned and ran back to the village, She made sure her sword was in it's sheath, to keep it from harm, she planned in saving as many as she could. Unfortunately, she didn't see the three demons as they carefully hid from her as sh ran deeper into the village, and without knowing it, away from the other warriors as well. She continued to search, the smoke hurting her eyes, throat and nose. she held her hand over her nose to help keep some of the smoke away. She continued to look. The demons, once they figured out what she was up to, started to shift rubble, to get her to go where they wanted her to, Karasu, thinking it was another family in hiding, went to where the noise was, but with caution.

[NPC]
It was that moment the naga decided to strike, The warrior was close, close enough the naga could pratically taste her. Using her tail she whipped it around to hit she back of her head with such a force that the warrior went forward and landed on the ground with a thump, she struggled to get up, the naga motioned for the other to to be at the ready, but the warrior collapsed. The naga grinned, she would make a wonderful trophy.
