Sure, SRD content is fine with me. Some of the 3rd party content is kinda iffy IMO anyways.

And if nobody objects, I think I might actually want to take a crack at DMing first. I've had experience with a group using this episodic type of DM rotation before, and I've got a good idea on how to get the ball rolling.

As for character creation, I say a point buy of ?? and max hp... that way we throw out possible batched rolls for creation

But the botched rolls are part of the fun, are they not?
I say you should have the choice between standard point-buy and 5d6 rolling.

I'm fine with that.

Not raising my hand for this game but just my 2cp, the point of point-buy is that everyone is building with equal resources. Perhaps more to the point, you're mixing standard point-buying and above-standard die-rolling, which thoroughly defeats the purpose of point-buy equality.

I see your point...
:/ I don't usually use point-buy, but I'd still like to keep it open as an option.

Would a High Fantasy point system be more fair in this case?
Although, there's still the chance of getting poor rolls, even with 5d6.

I have no idea how you would even out a balance between different statgen types. I would guess standard and standard line up. Going all one way or going another is one thing, but mixing them can be problematic. If it's a group of DMs, put it to a vote.

Alright, so I went and researched this a bit.

I have to say, I find 4d6 D1 or 5d6 D2 as more realistic than point-buy.
In the end, I find neither one truly "fair", though....

Still, I'll take a vote.
I'll put it up above for anonymity.

Relastism is irrelevant, you're measuring people in a series of six numbers. Fairness occurs when everyone gets the same chances to succeed.

I agree with the others. Point buy IS nice because it gives everyone an equal chance at being effective. And if you're offering such a nice method of dice rolling, I would also recommend upping the points you have to spend in point-buy.

Yes I did see the poll and I cast my vote, just throwing my two cents in.

5 people, 5 votes.
Looks like we're doing 5d6 drop lowest 2.

I will be working on my Tengu Ranger now....

Tengu Ranger, what a coincidence, I've been considering making my Oracle a kitsune, lol
