She kept up her attack until her feet slid in the slick liquid along the floor. A combination of her own blood and his. Her shoulder throbbed painfully and she still couldn't move it.

With a puff of air, she slipped and missed, slamming painfully against her injured arm with a hissed growl.

Damn. Why did it have to be him?

LW scrambled back, tail curling around her leg as she worked to take a breath of air that didn't have a slight rasp to it.

Dragging himself upwards, Gale swayed unsteadily on his feet, his breathing shallow. The wolf herself looked no better - she was cradling one of her arms against her midsection as though afraid to use it, and Gale leaned on his rifle, trying to see straight.

He lifted the gun, aimed, and fired,

Jack, it hurt so bad.

She was on the ground, gasping for breath and holding her mid-section. It wasn't like...then. Not quite. But oh Jack was it close. Her stomach ached and bled - she could feel the blood slipping between her fingers.

....Ren. Help.

LW pushed with all her might, feet digging into the ground to keep from slipping. One...shot. One chance. Just like before...

With a pained snarl, she threw herself at him, talons extended to slash any part of him.

He was done. They were both done, and he could not afford to stay here any longer. With a last burst of effort as the wolf threw herself at him, Gale kicked upwards, pushing her away from him. It hurt - his entire body hurt, especially the scratches over the scar on his throat, and Gale rolled away, wincing horribly.

He knew what Jinhai was saying. Gale's fingers grappled beneath his scarf, fumbling beneath the collar of his coat until he found what he was looking for. His hand closed around the familiar shape of the pendant.

"Deus...Ex...Machina," he gasped out, and with a flash of light, he was gone.
