And then, just like that, after she had spent a good hour or so searching for them...Xiu finally found both Yin and Amrita.

Or to be more accurate, they found her. Both of them.

At the same time.

While she was with other friends who she so dearly wanted to protect.

Distracted by this sudden dilemma (and the fact that she really did not want to fight these two), the baku didn't realize that one of the creatures--Yin--was going for her until she felt his claws digging into her back as he tried to drag them in. Yelping, she immediately tore herself away, trying to pull Mitsu back with her. She staggered backwards as Shun rushed forward to drive the mantis back, flinching as she watched the reaper sink his daggers into Yin's back.

Jackdamnit, why? "Come on, Yin Cang, Amrita! Don't do this! Your home--it's with us in Amityville, isn't it?"

She knew that yelling probably wouldn't do anything--they were already too far taken in by the insanity--but she couldn't resist trying at least. Their only choices right now were to run or fight, and since she sincerely doubted their ability to outrun two insanity-corrupted students...

"Aniki! I...I'll go help Tybalt! Maybe we can...just drive them back or something!" It was unlikely that they would retreat, but Xiu could remain hopeful, couldn't she? As Shun was distracting Yin, the baku rushed over to where Amrita and Tybalt were, her ears drooping. She never thought that she would have to fight the undead ghoul under circumstances like these.

Hoping that she could keep her away from the three behind her, Xiu rushed forward and brought her leg up and around, attempting to kick Amrita back with some force. Run! Please just give up and get out of here! Perhaps they could find a way to free them given a little more time, but as past experiences had shown, having to fight them was never the "correct" answer. They needed more information!

Surprises were something Mitsu wasn't ready for, especially surprises in the form of attacks from behind. It was actually enough to startle an odd noise from her, the lycan thrashing as she tried to pull away from the mantis.

Xiu was helping to pull but Mitsu was in such a panic she could barely do anything to aid her. She wiggled and writhed to pull herself free trying to lash out at the offending mantis arm but to no avail. Maybe in a different situation she would have thought about the fact that she was attacking other students but at the moment she was being driven by fear and the need to eliminate the source of said fear.

One thing that was clear was that two were focused on him. So he let the other invader escape for now, knowing there was another to take them out before they endangered home, focusing on the two attacking him. Keeping him from Home.

Two figures, two claws, it was a good mix. The one had gotten behind him, and so he turned, putting his back toward the other monster, trying to get these two in his field of vision. The one he had initially attacked he swept into his claw's grip again, trying to squeeze her, to sink the spines of his claw into her as his other claw lashed out, pointed tip aiming for the boil's chest. To sink into his flesh and rip out a chunk if he could. To destroy those who tried to keep him from home. Who threatened his home.

"Alright. You do that," Shun nodded to Xiu before grunting in pain as he felt a claw dig deep into his chest. They hit hard. Then again, so did Riley. There wasn't much else they could do right now aside from try and stop them. Sorry Amrita and Yin.

Staggering back from the blow, he quickly looked towards Mitsu, who looked terrified now. Now wasn't the time to try and comfort her.

"Mitsu, shift if you can," he urged. Once this was done, he'll check up on her wounds. Grimacing, he quickly turned his attention back towards the fog mantis, shifting to the side before slashing twice with his blades.

Immobilize? Xiu shot a quick glance at Tybalt, taken aback for a second when she realized that he had transformed. Shaking herself out of it, she glanced back to Amrita, taking a deep, shaky breath. "Right. Right, that's a good idea. If we can just knock her out or stun her..."

The legs. That seemed like a good place to target, right? She rushed forward, staggering momentarily when the ghoul swiped at her with her claws, and then pushed onwards. When she was close enough, she swept her leg out and into both of Amrita's, trying to bring the other ghoul down.

Once again the mantis' claws came for her but this time it didn't come as much of a surprise. At least she was slightly prepared though that didn't help with the panic at all. Her thrashing likely only made the damage worse as the spines on his claws sank into flesh, tearing into her arm and side. Mitsu screamed, actually screamed, her voice dying out shortly after as she pulled free nursing her injured arm with her other hand.

Shun didn't have to tell her to shift, the change was already happening on its own whether she wanted it to or not. Her form grew, bones shifting and rearranging as she finally stood on all fours as a large white wolf. Her eyes were wild with fear and anger which fueled her to charge forward. With a snarl she snapped at the mantis trying to take hold of one of his claws and shake it much like a dog shakes a toy.

It was hard to fight the intruders when the one kept dashing around, attacking him, forcing him to shift his attention from the other until she got a good hold on his claw. He hissed angrily, trying to pull his claw away.

Perhaps they were weakening the fog creature, but he did not show it. He freed himself, sweeping out with a claw, a backhanded motion to shove them away from him and give him room to maneuver, to see their attacks before the one darted around again.

Xiu and Tybalt actually did what they intended to do. It happened fast enough to stun the creature; Xiu's kick sent it to it's knees while the canine grabbed and twisted one of her claws, forcing her to brace herself on her free hand on pure instinct.

She was in no position to attack at the moment, but that didn't stop her from raging. Her form ripped and twisted, growling in somehow forlorn anger. Home...she wanted to go home.

That last attack knocked Shun clear off his feet. Grunting as he hit the ground, he felt a little stunned for the moment. It knocked some of the wind from his lungs too. Grimacing, he forced himself back to his feet. The feeling of being a little dazed or distant didn't leave him completely. It was almost like this wasn't quite happening. The pain and weariness he felt right now were enough, however. The battle needed to end soon, lest he ended up getting taken out. The mantis wasn't showing too many signs of wearing down, which wasn't particularly a good sign.

"Hang in there, Mitsu," he breathed out. Hopefully the other two were fine too, but he couldn't really spare a look at the moment. He needed to stay focused on his own target. Rushing back towards the mantis that might have been Yin at some point, he went in to try and stab it in the side of the neck before slashing upwards with his second dagger.

As the mantis backhanded her Mitsu went limping back, her front leg bloodied and injured unable to bear her weight entirely. It didn't keep her from lashing back though, turning on a dime as soon as she had her bearings and snapping at insanity Yin once again. Her teeth sank into whatever they could her ears barely picking up a word coming from Shun.

Had they managed to get her down? Xiu was shaking, her lips pressed into a thin line as she stared down at the insanity creature who had once been a sweet ghoul who she had considered a friend. Now that they had her...w-well, what now? They didn't know what to do with anyone who was infected with insanity--there wasn't really any known way to revert the process--but the baku couldn't bring herself to attack again.

At least, not until she noticed movement from the corner of her eye. When she turned to glance in the others' direction, she was horrified to see that both Shun and Mitsu were in rather bad condition. They were, however, still very much strong enough to land two more heavy blows on Yin--Xiu had to glance away from that, unsure whether to feel relieved or upset--but if they weren't taken care of now, and...and if Amrita managed to get back up and attack either of them.

Xiu swallowed. "Jackdamnit. Tybalt, I, um..." Her gaze flickered towards Shun and Mitsu, and then back to the ghost boil, "Could you...perhaps make sure that those two are alright? I'll catch up to you in a sec."

She looked back to Amrita. Did she feel pain from being attacked, Xiu wondered? Would she, like both Red and Riley before her, turn to stone upon being defeated? The baku had no clue either way, but if she did turn to stone, then she would cling onto the hope that the undead ghoul could be brought back. After all, Riley had come back--why not the others? She just...couldn't risk letting Shun or Mitsu receive a potentially lethal blow.

Xiu took a deep breath, and then steeled herself, curling one of her hands into a fist. "Sorry, Amrita."

His attacks were stronger, forcing them back, but the pair continued to come at him, daggers and teeth digging into him. A stab to his thorax, digging into his exoskeleton as the other dagger slashed upward, and then fangs digging into his front leg.

He was not focused on the pain, but his body simply could not hold up against such an onslaught. His dissipated, a last hiss all that remained as the fog swallowed him up once again.
