The Demon King's Contest 1: Finished!

[Silas Parrish]

Daisuke jumped back, caught off-guard. This Youkai was fast. A heavy blow struck him about the shoulder. He rolled away, massaging the spot, and springing back up to counter.

Undaunted, the young Shinigami willed his rigid blade to become flexible and whip-like, and snapped it several times in a circle, leaving scorch marks on the ground around him. He leaped and rotated in midair, turning about a diagonal axis, and attacking with the whip in a circular motion.  

[Chibi Kitsune Warrior]

Damn! thought Jek as he stumbled back, desperately trying to avoid the attack. He was completely caught off guard with this new attack. He raised his weapon, hoping to block, but his rising panic slowed him down. There was searing pain and a sharp clap as the end of the whip caught him in the torso. Jek jerked back and grunted in pain. He inhaled deeply, the smell of burned skin causing him to wrinkle his nose. Once he regained his balance, Jek charged the enemy once again. This time he dropped to the ground and swung his weapon in a horizontal arch aimed at Daisuke's ankles.

The hit was even and visibly damaging, but Daisuke knew better than to drop his guard. He saw the enemy's weapon whistling toward him once more. In an instant, he willed his zanpakuto to become rigid once again, and deflected the blow. In the same motion, he kept his momentum and lashed out with a downward sword-slash.

Jek rolled onto his back and knocked Daisuke's attack aside with a well-placed kick to his wrist. While the enemy was recovering, he rolled backward and regained his feet, preparing for another attack.
I think it's about time that I show my ace.
He tightened his grip on his weapon and felt his energy begin to spread from his hands to his weapon. Electricity ran down the metal handle and sparks burst from the barbs. Jek smirked as he swung his weapon vertically. A bolt flew from the weapon, straight at Daisuke.

Daisuke made quick use of Shunpo, and moved in a flash to stand on the other side of his opponent, watching bolts of electricity streak to bury themselves in the nearest metals on the other side of the arena. The crowd erupted. Daisuke tried to ignore them, and thrust forward with a palm from his position behind Jek.  

[Chibi Kitsune Warrior]

"Keh!" Jek exclaimed, upon seeing his attack miss. He couldn't currently see his opponent, but his instincts told him everything he needed to know. He rolled to the side, just barely dodging Daisuke's open palm, and countered with a high kick, the heel of his foot connecting with Daisuke's jaw. He attacked again, hoping to catch the enemy before he could recover. He swung his weapon around and thrust the handle at Daisuke's abdomen.

Daisuke cried aloud as he felt the impact of his enemy's counterattack. He was not through, however. He called upon his skills in Hohou to catch himself in the air, gliding gently down with plenty of time to see the polearm stabbing toward him. Daisuke swept his blade up and from the left, catching a fork at the end of the tsukubou and knocking it away.
"Hado number 63 -- Raikōhō!" he cried, extending a hand. A blast of golden lightning caught Jek in the chest and carried him some distance away. The Youkai twitched once as he lay on the ground. Daisuke gave chase using Shunpo, and willed his zanpakuto to become whip-like again. As he reached his target, he lashed out once with it.

Jek rolled out of the way, narrowly avoiding the attack. He found himself unable to shake off the aftereffects of the counterattack and could do nothing but kick weakly at Daisuke.

Daisuke stepped easily around the kicking of the Youkai's legs. He resealed his zanpakuto and sheathed it. The young Shinigami gave a sigh.
"I'm really very sorry--but I cannot let you stand in my way, or risk you bringing harm to anyone else. Perhaps you can find rest in the next life. Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man. Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hado number 33, Shakkaho." Crimson flames raged about the defeated Yokai and incinerated him in seconds.  

[Chibi Kitsune Warrior]

Flames engulfed the youkai as he lay defeated. He managed one shrill scream of terror and pain before he became nothing but ashes.

Faster. She wanted to go faster. The world turns too slowly for her. Cullingblade cleaned her claws with a long, rough tongue, hissing softly as she did so. The dead Youkai had been cleaned up, and the damnable Shinigami who killed it had moved to an observation box. Fast. She moved to stand in the arena, awaiting her opponent. The demon king could make her faster. She would kill him and take it. It would make her the fastest.

Kyaro scampered to the edge of the arena and used his abnormally large arms to launch himself into position. He blinked slowly, raising his head to sniff the air. This enemy smelt strong. Much stronger than himself.
A snakes tongue flicked from his mouth twice. No matter. He would beat this opponent, beat her and move closer to his goal. He "grinned", baring many of his sharp teeth. His tongue flicked once more from his mouth, and he spread his feet, lowering himself to a crouch.

She was fast... much faster than this little Youkai. To be fair, she decided to let him make the first moves. She had nothing to worry about. An ogre of some sort wearing stripes wandered too slowly to stand between them. She liked stripes. Reminded her of going fast. She stopped listening to him talk, beginning to pay attention only when he said, "Fight!"
