The tackle had worked so marvelously well that Belladonna let out another cackle, another gleeful sound of her success. This was exciting! The only thing that could make this better was any sort of indication that Mort was enjoying nearly this whole lovely little game as much as she. The fact that this time he didn't immediately throw her off was as good an indication as any, as well as a half invitation. Quick to anchor both her knees on either side of him, Belladonna quickly straddled his stomach and latched onto his elbows. It wasn't graceful, and it wasn't easy, but she managed to use her weight to keep him pinned as well as keep him from knocking her off. With a forward lunge, accompanied with a jerky head nod that made two cards slice at his arms, the witch pushed his arms back and leaned forward, every indicator that she was going in for a kiss.

"Oh love, I'm already on you." She teased with a devil's smile before she nipped at his shoulder, perhaps a little harder than she'd originally, or ever off the battlefield, intended to.

The cackle was heartening to hear, but it was also the heralding cry of a woman in the flux of what he now considered to be a minor power trip. Which wasn't . . . bad, no, it was nice to see Bells happy and in control and loving every second of it but . . . Ow.

He triiiieeeeed to struggle again - no success. She had him pinned pretty well in more than one sense.

It didn't help that in a different situation this would be eliciting far different responses, and his body was too confused by the mixture growing within him. All Mort could offer was a spark as a weak protest as he eyed her with both curiosity and surprise, ignoring the sting in his shoulder. Jack damn, if she was fiesty enough to want to bite through his clothes . . .

Where had this Belladonna come from?

"S'not what should be doing in gym," he pointed out in a murmur, tense beneath her.

In a rather odd turn of the tables, Belladonna found that she rather liked this whole above angle. It was... Different, fun, still exciting. And excitement was an emotion the witch had not experienced in far too long. Long enough that it intoxicated her, made her feel heady and odd and made her continue to sit on him as though it were perfectly natural for a smaller ghoul to pin down her much larger boilfriend. Too much stress and negative emotions had found their way into her life and even if this was just a battle, it was still a form of very odd therapy.
That and the fact that now that he was back, Belladonna had really decided to throw away all remnants of hesitation. This battle was just a good excuse to do exactly as she pleased. Namely being, pin down Mort.
"We're still fighting..." She drawled with another head motion that flicked a card over his arm so she could push his elbows further back.
"And besides, I do not see a soul but you and I." So no one could scold them for their very scandalous and compromising position. His tenseness registered, but went unmentioned. Why ruin all the fun she was having?

"S'that what this is?" Mort gave a wry smile as his arms were pushed back further. "Feels more like s-something else." Like the little power play she had pulled in the forest, the last time she had forced him to the ground and sat atop him with a satisfied little smile before enticing him to take a deep bite.

It was the weirdest deja vu he had ever experienced, namely because now he had to wonder if she was going to be taking a bite out of him. The way her excitement played across her face . . .

"B-But s'true. Still fighting." And with a brief hum her only warning, electricity surged up his arms and through hers from where she pinned him, a look between apologetic and impish accompanying it as he tried once more to force her off and get away. There were risks to handling a conductive boilfriend with bare hands.

"Something else?" Belladonna echoed with a curious expression, before she quickly brushed a kiss against his cheek. "Do you not like this? Prefer being on top?" It was a comment that made her blush as she said it, but certainly didn't temper her from saying it. And it certainly did not stop her from keeping him down, from refusing to relinquish her hold on him. Even the little tell-tale hum of an incoming attack only made her grin grow before her face turned into a momentary wince.
It had hurt, but it had been exciting too. Perhaps at another time, when not in the middle of a battle, the witch might even dare to say it felt nice. But since they were in a compromising position mostly in public and still in the midst of a fight, the witch shook the thought off and did her best to move both his arms to one of her hands. Obviously this wasn't easily, or even very well, accomplished but she still tried.

With her now free hand she snatched a card from the air and tossed it above her, where a bright yellow moon bloomed at the back of her head. Similarly to a midnight halo she stared down at him, glad she still had the wherewithal to actually accomplish her spell, and quite well, actually. After a few more seconds of the cascading light, the moon burst into sparkles that settled onto the witch's head and shoulders, mixed in with her hair before they dissolved onto her too.
"I do so hope you've got a song prepared." Belladonna added in a sweet, but soft voice. Quick as she could her free hand returned back to his arms, though now she made her grip a bit more gentle, mostly because she was a bit worried that he really did not enjoy this. Despite her want of no hesitations, it was a habit not easily broken.

Aaaand...there was the utterly flustered, bruise-faced Mort returned from the long gone days of his second year self. "Wh-What?" Sweet Sally, what. This little power trip was starting to get to Belladonna's head. "I-I-I mean...guess s'n-nice... I-I don't...know...?" There was some excitement and intrigue to this compromising position, but Mort had hardly planned on such a thing occurring. Bells kicking a**, sure. But not in this manner.

And Jack, the bet! "Uhh...no? S-Sorry?" he answered with an owlish blink. He'd absolutely forgotten and had hoped she would have too, as Mort was not known for his singing: too much pressure for a serenade, though romantic, was probably going to make him melt into the ground.

He had to get out from under her before things escalated further. But he did pause to admire her in the brief moonlight, the night of his return and the accompanying emotions flashing through his mind. Mrr...She looked every bit as lovely as she did fierce here. It was a shame he had to keep attacking.

So Mort concentrated his Fear, gathered energy, braced himself, and did a full system shock from his arms down to his legs, and through both of hers as well. The residual energy livened him up to attempt a much stronger escape, even if he had to crawl and shove his way out.

That was certainly not the reaction Belladonna had been looking for.
It was so drastically not the response she wanted that she visibly wilted and all but let his arms go to sit back. Still on his stomach she averted her gaze to the floor near one of his shoulders and frowned lightly. They had come so far, but still had to trip their way through every little thing. It was just a fight! Belladonna wasn't going to try anything! Really!
And his reply to her little tease was disheartening enough that the witch fixed him with a saddened gaze.
"You've forgotten!" So, maybe yes, he'd had other things on his mind lately, but the witch had hoped that he would have remembered that bet. Or at least recalled it when they began the fight. Or at least when she immediately challenged him after her graduation to Hobhood.
Unfortunately for her there was no time in which to pout as a large enough shock to make her cry out interrupted all those thoughts.

It was enough to have knocked her off anyways, but along with the unceremonious shove from Mort, really only furthered to hurt her. With a frustrated noise she crashed down to the ground where she was content to lay, glaring up at the ceiling.
This was going very, very poorly when it had once been going so well!
A card was tossed, haphazardly and without care, so it wasn't any wonder it didn't really hit hard. Unfortunately this only served to further dismay the witch and she let her head fall back against the floor with a dull thud.

Mort scrambled back on his feet in seconds, twitchy from the system shock. It had been an age since he had last tried that move and he remembered why: it did awful things to his nervous system even as it was beneficial in battle to keep him moving. Thor's light dimmed as he tried to shake it off, putting up a defensive posture against...

...She was still on the ground. Pouting. A card had been flicked his way, but Mort was fixated on that skyward glare and her saddened exclamation. Was...was it that bad to have forgotten? It was one of their things, sure, but so many other things had filled his mind - not counting the confusing signals going off in his brain from this fight alone. It was far too strange to see a ghoul go from confident battler to semi-domination to this disheartened red and pink mass on the floor, especially of it was because of him.

It just...what was he supposed to do when this was a spar? Mort had already shown how one-track minded he could be when she was being distracting.

"Y-You, uh, ok-k-kay?" he asked with a little concern and a little more guilt, his stammering pronounced from the shock. "D-Didn't hit you hard-d, r-right?"

A vaguely clipped and huffy "Fine" was tossed out as Belladonna clambered to her feet. Sure to keep her eyes off him she busied herself with brushing off what dirt had accumulated on her clothing. A few steps backwards were taken, just to put some distance between them, but curiosity got the better of her and the witch's eyes swept over him briefly. Just a quick glance, nothing special.
But they soon returned and Belladonna stopped to look Mort over.
"Seems like you hit yourself for much worse... You alright?" She asked, concern for him clearly written across her features. Normally she had a much better handle on displaying her emotions, but she was tired, and a little bit hurt, so it didn't really matter.

The defensive posture made the witch roll her shoulders back, give a quick little flap of her hand and then with a dramatic swing, send a rather hefty hit Mort's way. It was possibly fueled by a number of her conflicting emotions, but Belladonna only continued to look mildly worried for him after her hit struck.

His attempt to wave her concern away was a little more jittery than necessary. "S-S'fine!" he assured the witch in a quick, higher-pitched voice. "S'fine, s'fine, s'f-fine, s' -" he shut his mouth and shook his head vigorously, knocking a few knuckles against his temple. "M'good," he said at a normal tone, wincing. "J-Just an overload, n-n-nothing-g fancy. Used t-to happen lots as f-f-first year."

Mort was lucky he had defended himself, however, as the mad rush of cards tearing into him nearly knocked him off his feet all over again. He was pretty sure by the pain he felt that she had ripped open not only the old scars on his arms and face but some new ones as well, and a pained note escaped him before he could hide it. "Jaaaack...J-Just turned third year n' a-already beating me b-b-bad," he grumbled, good natured but also reflective as well. "Mrrr...S'good. Real good. C-Can defend self well." He wondered, briefly, if he wasn't as good a fighter as he thought he was, even as a third year.

He tried to banish the wall of questioning doubts behind that thought and again concentrated his Fear. Despite the fact that Bells pretty much had the victory in her grasp and despite the fact that he was slouching and tired, Mort was going to continue battling. He always was a sucker for one-sided fights sided against him. "Keep going," he urged her with a little smile as green bolts materialized in his hands. "N-Not quite beaten yet. Want the song? Need to...t-to make me cry uncle f-first." And he let loose a barrage of bolts her way, each fling draining him just a little bit more.

Despite his best efforts, nothing the zombie did made the witch feel any better. Had he really ever overloaded in front of her before? They'd only battled once before, and she'd only ever seen him fight something else once as well. And that had been a clusterfluff of terrible. So now that he couldn't quite speak well, Belladonna was not happy. Now her little pout turned into full out worry, eyebrows pulled up in abject worry.
His cry of pain made her cry out as well as she hurried forward to close the distance between them. But before she could fully reach him, Mort was up on his feet, wobbly, but standing. A bit of guilt raked through her stomach at how very badly she was beating him.
"Beginner's luck." The witch offered with a shrug, before Mort began to talk again. The smile made her expression soften a little, but the green bolts turned her mind back to the battle.

A tiny shriek of dismay burst forth as she was struck, a force that knocked her back a few steps. That had not only been a pretty powerful hit, but she was getting really tired.
"Uncle?" She asked with a full body shiver as she tried to stop that odd little twitch that had begun in the tips of her fingers. "I'd rather you cry something else. Uncle is so... Silly." A quick flick and one little card flew forward, hardly a hit at all. But he just looked so worn, it would have felt a shame to hit harder than she had...

Another round of suggestive words, another fierce blush. Mort wobbled in place and rubbed the back of his neck. "Ah...W-Well s'the express-ssion," he mumbled sheepishly, like it was something to apologize for. That shiver of hers didn't look good.

Then again, neither was his. Mort felt how weak his barrier was and, with Thor's trembling fingers, pressed a few to his chest. "Mrrr..." He wasn't sure how he pulled it off, but the zomboil managed to create a current counter to the rampant residual energy, canceling it out and giving his flagging body a much needed boost. "See? M'fine," he chirped. "Got some good luck too."

And a tenacity to keep going like only the undead had.

"Oh dear, I've made you blush." Belladonna observed out loud with a suddenly wicked smile. Honestly she hadn't meant her phrase quite in that manner, but his bashfulness over it did please her. At least a little. Besides, so rarely did she get to be so painfully obvious about her advances. After confessing her love, nothing else felt taboo. Nothing else felt like too much. Especially her own flirtatious manner.
Curious expression splashed across her face, the witch watched as Mort healed himself and gave him a little clap.
"Does that mean I'm your lucky charm, still?"

Well, even so, a sudden surge of wanting to win (and honestly perhaps hear him cry out something other than 'uncle') rose up within the ghoul and she reached out for a favored card. It would certainly end this battle quite quickly and with a devilish grin the witch tossed the card into the air. In a flash the skeletal Death Knight was behind her, suddenly much taller than ever before. Now he towered over the witch, surely the same height as Mort now.
The skeleton fixed his eyeless gaze on the boil and took one step forward before Belladonna held up an imperious finger.
"No lance." She told him. Without eyes, it was impossible to see the skeleton roll them at her, but if he'd had them, that would have been his response. Still her turned back and rushed at the zomboil. The lance was cast aside and instead a heavy, armored fist collided with Mort's midsection. Even from across the field the witch knew how hard the hit was and immediately rushed forward, in case she'd done something awful.

Oh yes, yes she made him blush all right. It was surprisingly easy to do given how literally Mort took things. And also how suggestible he was.

"'Ve course you are," he responded happily, though the second Mor saw that devilish grin and that one card he knew his fate was sealed. All the zomboil could do was star at the now eye-level death knight and swallow hard, regaining a tremble as he considered how large and very pointy the lance would be now.

Bells was courteous enough to have it discard the weapon, but Mort only got one word of his gratitude out before the metal fist collided with his midsection, easily caving his chest cavity as his Fear shield broke. The zomboil uttered a gurgling sound as half-congealed blood bubbles forth; when his head by the ground several feet away, he was out like a light.

It was a good thing he had given her at least one nice thing before the witch's Death Knight clobbered the zombie. At least Belladonna could recall that she was still his good luck charm, even if she didn't at all feel it right then. An agonizing crunch made her give off a note of dismay, and when he fell to the ground she screamed far too loudly. With a flash the Death Knight was gone, the cards put away and the witch racing across what distance separated them. All the while she cursed her own foolhardiness, her own brash want to win a damn fight that only meant a song, nothing she could even hold or keep besides in a memory.
Another noise exited Belladonna as she fell to the ground next to Mort and for one too long moment, only stared at him. But whatever other instinct that had generally kept her out of mostly dangerous situations took over.
With a loud noise of destroyed fabric, she ripped and tore at the pants she wore, glad to have chosen fighting bloomers, which meant there was a lot of excess material. Though she'd never dealt with blood loss in first aid, she at least knew the basics and set about wrapping what she could of his chest up.

It looked jacking awful, all bloodied and broken and oh Hecate, she'd begun to cry. A hand wiped away at the tears to clear her vision as she pulled his head into her lap and ripped off another long piece of fabric.
"Please wake up, please Mort. Oh Hecate, I am so, so sorry. Please, jacking ********, I am so sorry, Mort please." Was the odd little mantra she mumbled as she did her best to patch him up, at least enough to get him to the nurse's office.

Mort is healed for 2 HP!
