It was clear, judging by the fact that the ice began to crack and that the behemoth remained unmoved, that if she fell he wasn't going to stop it. This was her exam. If she was to fail then she would fail on her own and face the consequences of her failure. After all, it would serve well as a reminder to do better next time.

"Well done. There's room for improvement, but you cleared it with a passing grade." He held out his hand to the ghoul, helping her to her feet. Though when he let go, Gene would find a small something in her hand.
"You are dismissed."
