Zach had, at midnight, gone to Shannon's house to rifle through her things and get an idea of what she was like, something that the cold report could not give him. He'd finished after about an hour, and was taking a moment to think, leaning against the edge of a building, when Shannon appeared. "Well, hello," he murmured to the walking girl, walking alongside her. "It appears my luck is better than I thought tonight. Two encounters with the lovely lady. Perhaps I should try the lottery. Or calling my mother." He chuckled. "I don't think all the good luck in the world could turn the tide with Baba Yaga, though."

If it wasn't for the solid fact she didn't get scared easily, Shannon surely would have jumped and let out a scream when she heard Zach's voice. But she didn't, which she was thankful at the moment, so all that happened was her head snapped up, eyes widening before narrowing in a questioning manner as she toyed with the keys in her hand. "Hello to you too," she replied casually, looking at him for a moment longer before turning her attention to ahead of her again. With that, she nearly scoffed. But she had to give him points for the effort of the line. "Luck or a coincidence, and frankly the latter sounds more likely." Pausing, she turned to face him, cocking her head to the side again as she sized him up. "Do you normally lurk around the city at one in the morning, Zach, hmm?" Her questioning manner was teasing, letting him know it wasn't a serious question, more like something to throw him off his game.

"I rarely sleep." He shrugged a bit. "And I wanted to explain what happened earlier. I was intending to wait until you called me, but now should suffice. When I was in Moscow, my father didn't place many restrictions on me. As long as I was home by eleven, he didn't care what I did after my lessons. So I became sort of a... free spirit, is the term? I think. I was with many women. I continued that lifestyle for a few years when I came to America, and then I grew up and out of that. But there are those who I hurt who have legitimate grievances with me. But I promise I won't cause any more problems in your bar."

Shannon frowned, staring at him for a moment before she gave a shrugged of her shoulder. Some people could run on a few hours of sleep so she couldn't question him on that. She opened her mouth to cut him off when he brought up the explaining what happened earlier, about to tell him he didn't need to, but she clamped it shut once she realized she shouldn't waste her breath. "You didn't have to explain, it's really none of my business, but it's good to know you won't be making problems in the bar any more. It wouldn't be as fun to work there if fights were breaking out."

He shrugged. "I felt I should, though." Zach smiled warmly at Shannon. "I have a feeling we're going to run into each other again, and it wouldn't do for that to go without being addressed." He reached out and squeezed her arm. "I just didn't want you to think that I'm some sort of womanizer that sleeps with any woman that will accept me. I don't like my friends having the wrong impression of me."

"Ah, I see." Shannon said slowly, a small smile of sorts spreading across her face. Part of her felt bad for even thinking that he was womanizer now, since he seemed sincere enough with his words. She was silent for a moment before she pointed at him. "Well I don't think that of you know, but we aren't friends. Not yet at least, if running into each other is going to become a thing."

Zach smiled quickly and gave her a quick, hard hug. "Well, I prefer to think that everyone is my friend. Except, perhaps, Anna." Then he said goodbye and was off, whistling cheerfully. He didn't go directly home; first he went to a pay phone to call a few friends, and then his sister (not by blood, but by mutual choice), and they spoke of work and Russia. And then he went home, taking a strange path so that anyone following him would get lost, and finally fell into bed and asleep, curious about the next day.

After they said their goodbyes, Shannon stood there for moment, thinking to herself how strange the encounter with Zach was. Or just how odd he was compared to the people she usually surrounded with. Eventually she made her way into her apartment, dumping her keys and bag on the table by it before she marched herself straight to bed, flopping down on it while kicking off her boots. In no time she was asleep.

The next day, Zach read up some more on his target and started looking at the place she worked, and the area around it. Just in case. Checking out vantage points and the like; from a decent roof he could put a round through her chest as she walked out, and be out before anyone noticed. He checked the place out in a very inconspicuous way for a while, then went into the bar and had a few drinks. Nothing that would actually affect his judgment, of course. He went outside and got into a bit of a scuffle with the locals, and stayed there while the police came. He explained his case concisely and honestly and got out without anyone particularly noticing him or entering anything into any database, which was lovely. He'd hate to be one of those people who burned off their fingerprints. By the time he was free, it was late enough that he was pretty sure Shannon would be at the bar, and returned there.

For a good part of the morning Shannon remained in her apartment, catching up on some cleaning and reading, nothing too exciting. With her being out of school, there really wasn't much else she could do with her mornings. It was rather sad that she missed school because of this, though she knew very well once she went off to college, she'd be wishing she was done with it like she had with high school. And middle school. Just in general, really. Around four, she finally escaped into the city, stopping at a few shops before she headed to the bar. Unlike yesterday, she arrived earlier than the time her shift started. That didn't stop her from discarding her bags behind the counter and start with getting orders from the few people seated at tables.

Zach found Shannon at the bar, and smiled before sitting down near her. "Privyet, Shannon. I'm incredibly sorry, but I broke a few bones outside here earlier. The man from yesterday came with some of his friends, and injuries were unavoidable." The regret in his voice was real. He didn't harm unless he was contracted or forced, and he didn't like the latter situation. "I'm assured they will be fine, and now they know not to try and harm me." He absently glanced around, getting a feel for the current customers of the place. He didn't see anyone that looked harmful, although the blonde woman in the corner was a temptation that he chose to ignore in favor of watching Shannon's reaction.
