Eitri was surprised when the War messenger had found him; given at the time he was off in the mountains mining. He wished he hadn't been found since the meeting seemed urgent enough that Eitri wasn't allowed to collect all the materials he'd just spent the day mining - it was an effort to let him collect his tools. So to say he was a little ticked off when they arrived in the meeting area was perhaps a bit of an understatement. He grunted as he pushed past a few clansmen, making his way to a seat where he stretched out his legs and rest his feet on the chair in front of him.

He hadn't bothered cleaning the dirt off himself - or to put on a shirt for that matter. His hair was at least presentable; kept in the usual braid it was always in. He expected this to be a boring 'let's get the Hunters!' meeting as per usual and so it took him a while to notice Death standing in the middle of the floor and when he noticed, he rose a brow, put his feet on the floor in front of him and leaned forward, resting an elbow on his knee. Huh. He wasn't expecting this, that was for sure and when Death started talking, Eitri listened intently and he couldn't help but feel a little excited. A chance to go home. A chance to redeem themselves and their past failings.

He might have slapped his knee, stomped his feet and hooted in excitement if it wasn't for the present company. Oh, this would call for a drink later on no doubt. Questions were asked and Eitri folded his arms behind his head, grinning perhaps a little too much. It might be too good to be true but for now it was all they had and it was better than nothing. He didn't bother asking any questions; it wasn't his style and he probably still wouldn't understand the science behind it.

Shik's only question would have been why can't we mangle bodies, but there was an obvious answer already and he just sighed all over the place.

One day, humans. One day he'd assemble a murder party. Possibly on his birthday.

The scowling executioner stood off to the side as he always did, wings tucked but shifting impatiently. It was a meeting of three powerful figureheads, and all he could fixate on was that in a crowd of the Lost Clans, he could pick out maybe two faces he knew. Astounding.

Maybe he ought to try and socialize.

Or he could just keep his brow furrowed and taps his claw-like nails against his arm.

Thera wasn't one to back down.

"Then allow me to be the first of many Lord Death, to ask you to Prom, should you find time for the event."

"Ah yes indeed," the elder horsemen tapped his chin thoughtfully, "what exactly is it about Distortion that makes it so effective. Well, if I had to summarize I would say of course, the nature of what it is. We have Fear, and Joy, and then Insanity, and these are all created from emotions. So, applying the same logic, what exactly do you think Distortion is?"

It was probably something pretty big if he was being as ambiguous as he was about the topic. Yet considering the nature of his warning regarding Distortion, he had all rights to be reserved.

Smiling, the Horsemen of Death opened his mouth to reply to Thera, "If your lady would kindly accept me as your escort I would be more than happy to-"

-SCRAPE-

- Both he and Medea suddenly turned to stare at Charon, who had stood right up, still holding all the stuff in his arms, chair pushing back behind him. The attendant of Death, wearing a surprisingly blank expression, sat back down and pretended that that didn't just happen.

-"... visit if I have the time." Death amended. Satisfied, Charon seemed to relax just a bit, though he was watching you Thera, he was watching you.

Nirva perched cautiously in the background of the whole meeting, she had done little in her own way to help with the harvesting of fear, her job wasn't to collect, it was to kill with purpose, to defend and destroy the enemy. Humans weren't enemy, they where mindless cattle that some sought to slaughter for Fear.

Still she had poked about the town and camps and very rarely found hunters worth, well, hunting. So she stayed near the grounds watching and waiting thankful to have some resemblance of a home... for now. Though talk of distortion caused her wings to ruffle curiously.

"M'lord, distortion, it is a trait held only by us and those who allied with us earlier. What of the rest of Halloween that is tainted by Insanity? Are they too able to use Distortion to cure themselves?"

Wherever Ying went, it was safe to say that Jing was not far behind, the horseboil did not sleep in this time as he weaved his way through the mob of lost clan members, robe fluttering and making the boil clinch the cloth repeatedly until he got to his sisters sitting place and made his own place there.

There was nothing much to say as he listened intently, calmly as the newly appointed leader began to hash out the way he wanted to run things, that was different than Medea. Just the memories of her plans, the schemes that did nothing but fuel her own whims of revenge and nothing for their survival made his mouth go sour. There was never a choice for speaking out against it, just blind obedience because the head priestess was not a being to be trifled with. Jing would not put it against her to lash out at defiance, whether it be to the turncoat or a relative to them.

Ying's safety trumped his own sense of will.

there was still the feeling of apprehension in his stomach, with the lead Death's plans, there was a chance that he could be a wiser leader than the one before, on the other hand, he could be even more volatile with his actions. The even toned rumble of the being that answered their questions left him feeling less on edge.

The seed of doubt was still in his chest. Just who was this Charon?

"And if we do get to return to our former homelands, just what then? How exactly do we rebuild in accordance to our new unity? Is the land even salvageable?" If it was one thing the Zheng siblings wanted, it was their true home back.

Hands laced together with her sister, Lifen watched the three in front of her with a sober look, giving everything a look over. Seeing Medea sitting next to Death in a worried, pensive way made her wonder what was possibly coming to be - could it have been connected to . . . the battle with the hunters on the watch? Thinking about that was like thinking about taking poison and then stabbing her hands.

Neither of them were terribly appealing.

Clearing her throat a little, she raised her spare hand, dagger in hand, she turned to give both Mengyao and Shikoba a soft look, (one maybe a little longer than the other), she thought for a moment. Turning back to Death, she went along with asking her question, quiet voice travelling over the others.

"For those of us who were given these, must we offer our shards up to you also, Sir?"

It was a honest question.

Thera smirked.

A possible dance with Death himself and even better, a possible rival.

This was a good day.

Ying nodded very happily, eager to please Death. It was exciting to know that even if it would take hard work, it was still somewhat possible. "I will work very hard sir! I won't let you down, I promise!" If enthusiasm could've been converted into distortion power, Ying would've saved them all with her bright toothy smile.

Having pleased herself, Ying went back into the crowd and sat back down next to Eitri. "He said if we do what he says we might be able to visit home! Er- the old home, that is."

Did she understand most of what was said? That was questionable. But the horseman sat intently, staring at Lord Death himself, eyes serious. Or maybe she was just thinking too hard? It was definitely odd to see such an expression on the typically bouncy and chipper scavenger. She missed home, though. And the thought of perhaps returning there was intriguing. Or at least she assumed that was what all this meant. Right?

Saiyuri squirmed in her seat. He said yes, right? No wait. That they could visit their old home? Now she was confused.

And why was there talk of Prom again? Was this secretly some sort of mission?

And why did she have to give back her shiny things?!

Eitri turned to Ying and raised a brow with a grin. "Imagine the party that'll follow that, eh?" He nudged her a little with his shoulder, rocking to the side. "What if it's too good to be true, though?" He asked in a rare moment of seriousness. "What if we do all this work and it backfires? I don't think most of us can handle a failure like that."

He snorted and grinned. "I'm sure it'll work out. I hope this meeting ends soon, though. I need to have a bath, at least. I imagine I don't smell like roses and sunshine right now." Perhaps this wasn't exactly the best thing to talk about in the presence of a lady. But Ying was different and he wasn't concerned with etiquette around the nobles, let alone this tiny girl.

Invictus didn't like being on call.

He also didn't like not being timely. So really, he had to pick which demon was less of a pain in his a** before he made any sort of appearance.

Which he did, in time, looking as annoyed around the edges as he possibly could, lips drawn in a particularly straight line as he regarded the scene of those coming to gather around Death. Disgust. The taste of it seemed to settle in the poise of his shoulders. Anger lingered in his breathing whenever he exhaled. Annoyance smouldered in the small glances of his eyes across those who were assembled.

Those who were already willing to become Death's little greyhounds to send running in any direction to gain the prize first.

It was probably for the better of all that His Imperial Majesty wasn't even going to attempt to be civil and start any conversations when he would have just liked to have ripped the Ancient's throat out. Just wrap his fingers around that windpipe and.......

He did have to wonder if there was anybody who would greet the Nag if he did such a thing. Maybe if he thought angrily about it long enough.....

Mjoll had chosen her seat carefully, she was cautious of death unsure of him, more warmed to Medea and her ways. However, death was still her leader and the things he said, in essence made since. It wasn't easy to accept such things as becoming obsolete though, and the thought just seemed to chew at her a bit.

Shifting in her seat Mjoll finally sighed and just looked melancholy. This was why they were called? It was so depressing, she'd rather been back at her little tent making piddly jewelery out of scraps or something.

Shaheen had listened with rapt attention, mulling over what Death had to say and combining it with what Shikoba had already told her of previous events. She had slipped her way in beside him, silent and focused, her gaze never flickering away from those three figures in the center of this small crater of dirt.

When it was all said and done and the question period started, Shaheen kept her silence, then and only then flicking her eyes up towards Shik. She gave tall, dark and stoic a sharp nudge with her elbow, trying to grab his attention to give him a look, one that would tell him all of the things she wanted to say out loud and yet couldn't. Didn't he care about any of this new information? About the state of their previous homes and the fact that Death wanted them to give up their distortion shards? Shik might have been stuck on thoughts about killing humans but Shaheen had moved past that to the bigger picture. If they gave up their shards, what did that mean for Shik's pointy new toy that had worked wonders on Shaheen's complexion?

She didn't like this. Not one tiny, little bit. What Shik had done to her with that dagger had been horrible, and she still felt the phantom remnants of pain that made her fingers twitch, curling and resting on the area that had been stabbed, but it was all she currently had. What would they do if she got so close to the breaking point once again?

Yes, she told all of this to Shik with her eyes, and she damn well expected him to get it all.
